Manchester United sporting director Dan Ashworth has been speaking to some UK journalists in Monaco following the Europa League draw.

He told them his phone 'had been buzzing' suggesting there may be some more transfer activity at Old Trafford before the window closes at 11pm.

However, I have just asked United manager Erik ten Hag if he thinks Jadon Sancho will stay, despite links with Chelsea and Juventus.

"As I know, yes," he said.

"He is in our squad and we are happy with him. We need a good squad, we need depth. We have to play many games until January. After the break we play every third day so we need options."

Man Utd v Liverpool (Sun, 16:00 BST)

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport's chief football news reporter

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag will speak to the media shortly.

I am sure there will be confirmation at some point this afternoon that Scott McTominay has left for Napoli and Manuel Ugarte is coming in from PSG.

Whether Ten Hag is willing to talk about either without official confirmation is open to debate.

He is bound to be asked about the future of Jadon Sancho as well - plus, maybe, an exciting Europa League draw including meetings with Rangers, the Fenerbahce side now managed by former United boss Jose Mourinho and his boyhood club Twente.

Oh yes, there may also be questions about playing against Liverpool.

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou provided a squad update ahead of Sunday's match: "Rodrigo [Bentancur] is all good, he's passed all the protocols we need to, and more importantly he feels really good and the medical team are really comfortable with him being available for Sunday."

On forwards Dominic Solanke and Richarlison: "Dom is close but we're going to be a bit cautious with him, we've got a big programme post the international break, so he'll miss out on Sunday. The only other one we got midweek is Richarlison, who unfortunately picked up an injury in training, so he'll probably miss the next few weeks."

Be interesting to hear how others feel but I’ve been messaged by a couple of Arsenal fans declaring sadness and anger at Ramsdale’s departure.

  18. Saint boss 'made me feel about eight feet tall' - Ramsdalepublished at 13:06 British Summer Time 30 August

Aaron Ramsdale says he is ready to hit the ground running at Southampton after agreeing a permanent move from Arsenal to the south coast, where he spent three years earlier in his career playing for Bournemouth.

“Coming back down to the south coast as well for me and my family, it would be an easier transition than most, so I feel like I can hit the ground running," said Ramsdale, after Southampton agreed to pay an initial £18m for the England goalkeeper, with the potential of £7m in add-ons.

Since Arsenal made goalkeeper David Raya's signing permanent, Ramsdale has made just six appearances in the Premier League. He also has five England caps.

Ramsdale added: “I’m absolutely delighted. The way the manager wants to play, the way he was when I spoke to him, he was just full of so much enthusiasm. I’d never met him before, but he made me feel about eight feet tall, which is just what you want."

Think Lopetegui is missing a very obvious trick here letting JWP leave. Signing Fullkrug and Kilman, trusting Soucek - all players who are very good in the air - and then doing away with the best set piece taker in the league. Very odd.
