Well the game lived up to the hype I suppose! Spain have been the best team but as with all great teams they are beatable! I will be watching the England game with my three sons (15, 12, 8) so am expecting lots of shouting, tears (from me), pacing up and down the room, passion and nerves as we all have when we watch England! A few words for Garth Southgate - take a risk, attack the Netherlands, be brave and we win! 2-1 England, let’s see how many thumbs up for that! COME ON ENGLAND!

Is there even a point in playing tonight’s match? I can’t see England or the Netherlands beating Spain in the final. They have been brilliant from the start and the only criticism you can really have is they should have scored more goals. Thoroughly deserve to be in the final and, let’s face it, thoroughly deserve to win the trophy.

You are certainly right that Spain deserve to be in the final, but where is your optimism? Also, we would love a name to go with your thoughts.

  4. Hasselbaink 'will definitely tell them what we’re capable of'published at 07:49 British Summer Time 10 July

    Netherlands v England (20:00 BST)

Mario Melchiot was asked on 5 Live Breakfast whether he expected the Netherlands to beat England in tonight's Euro 2024 semi-final in Dortmund:

"Yes, if we answer them tactically and we understand exactly what to do because there’s going to be moments where we want to control the game.

"If England allow Holland to control too much of the game, important moments but in key moments, then Holland will show their strength and will win this game."

Former Chelsea and Netherlands defender Melchiot did, however, wish his countryman and former team-mate Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink the best of luck before tonight's game.

Hasselbaink is currently working with England's forwards in a coaching role.

“Jimmy is one of my close friends," said Melchiot, 47. "We spoke before the tournament to wish him luck.

“You always want to make sure people do well that you like. He will definitely tell them what we’re capable of and what our motivation is."

    Netherlands v England (20:00 BST)

To give you a picture, BBC Radio 5 Live presenter Rick Edwards is hosting today's breakfast show from the German Football Museum in Dortmund.

The museum is directly opposite Dortmund’s central train station and 200m from the city’s vibrant main shopping street, “Westenhellweg”.

From there, it is only three kilometres to the BVB Dortmund Stadium, where England will face the Netherlands tonight, kick-off 20:00 BST.

A green carpet leads you directly from the museum to the stadium and back.

For those who have not seen it yet, the Dutch fans like to walk en masse to the stadium before matches. That green carpet will lead the way later on...

  7. 'Expectation weighed heavily on us at start' - Southgatepublished at 07:31 British Summer Time 10 July

Netherlands v England (Wed, 20:00 BST)

Last night, England manager Gareth Southgate gave his most candid pre-match news conference yet, on the eve of a Euro 2024 semi-final with Netherlands (20:00 BST).

His side struggled to click in the early stages of the tournament and are yet to reach top form - with Southgate coming under fire from a section of fans.

Southgate admitted the players were inhibited by expectation and "the noise had never been louder" at the start of Euro 2024

"One of our strengths over the years has been having less fear, showing less inhibition," he said.

"But at the beginning of the tournament the expectation weighed heavily and the noise from outside had never been louder."

  9. You don't need motivation when playing England - Melchiotpublished at 07:24 British Summer Time 10 July

    Netherlands v England (20:00 BST)

    BBC 5 Live Breakfast

Former Chelsea and Netherlands defender Mario Melchiot has been on BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast talking about the challenge facing his national side:

"When you face England it is something extra, you don't need no motivation. You know them and you know what they are capable of doing. And you know also yourself what you need to be doing to win the game.

"I will give an example - like the battle between Bukayo Saka and Nathan Ake - your great talent against one of our great defenders. So this is going to be interesting.

"You hear Harry Kane speak about meeting Virgil van Dijk again. Kyle Walker is another one - if he is playing on the right who is he going to face? Cody Gakpo is our main scorer with three goals, but Walker I think is one of the great defenders, especially now in England. So him playing that well is going to be a problem for Holland."

    Spain 2-1 France

    Highlights: Spain 2-1 France

Lamine Yamal became the youngest goalscorer in European Championship history as Spain beat France in an absorbing contest to reach the final of Euro 2024.

After Randal Kolo Muani headed in Kylian Mbappe's cross to give France an early lead, Yamal curled home a stunning strike from outside the box to write his name into the record books by scoring at the age of 16 years and 362 days.

Yamal's goal came in the 21st minute, and Spain were ahead just four minutes later as Dani Olmo's shot was turned home by France defender Jules Kounde.

France had to come out fighting after a thrilling first half - and they did just that, with Aurelien Tchouameni having a header saved and Mbappe denied from an ambitious effort.

The France captain, playing without a face mask for the first time since breaking his nose at the start of the tournament, had a big chance to equalise late on - but he shot high over the bar in a moment that summed up his recent form.

While Spain have been the most attacking side at the tournament to date, here they showed they have the defence to match as they stayed on course for a fourth European Championship title.

France, for their part, came up short in attack against a side that will take some stopping when they face either England or the Netherlands in Sunday's final.
