With football success comes admiring eyes and with each rung on the ladder Crystal Palace move up, Oliver Glasner's name gets thrown in the hat for other jobs.

As pressure mounts for Manchester United Ruben Amorim, whispers are Glasner would take job at Old Trafford 'in a heartbeat', according to talkSPORT's Ben Jacobs. , external

Speaking to the Austrian publication Kicker, external earlier this week, however, Glasner said: "I follow all the rumours - and that’s all there is - neutrally and completely relaxed."

  3. What are fans saying on social media?published at 11:48 BST

It's not just us discussing how far Oliver Glasner can take Crystal Palace, with plenty of football fans also taking to social media to sing his praises.

Lots are suggesting Glasner isn't given 'enough credit' for his managerial achievements, with Arsenal fan Paddy writing on X that the 51-year-old is 'arguably a top five manager in the world'.

Elsewhere, popular fan account HLTCO - who supports the Eagles - said on X that the Austrian has 'changed lives in South London'. A big claim, right?

Perhaps not, according to HLTCO, who highlights that Glasner's loss percentage of 21.1% is 'the lowest of any permanent manager since the club was founded'.

Glasner seems to have also caught the eye of A-list celebrities, with his 'red carpet crossover' with American actor Matthew McConaughey also recently going viral on X.

    Probability of Champions League qualification

Crystal Palace are the only remaining unbeaten side in the Premier League and are undefeated in 18 games in all competitions, the joint-longest run in their history. Manager Oliver Glasner is deservedly taking many of the plaudits but just how far can the Austrian take his side – and is this form sustainable?

There’s some statistical evidence to suggest there could be more to come from the Eagles.

Opta’s prediction model, which simulates every single Premier League match 10,000 times, believes the south Londoners will finish fourth, rating their chances of Champions League qualification at 43%.

That figure may raise eyebrows, given it is significantly higher than the likes of Chelsea (22.6%), Newcastle (15.2%) and Tottenham (13.9%), but it underlines Palace’s improvement under Glasner that they are even in the conversation.

As the season matures, Glasner will be faced with the dilemma of sacrificing Europa conference game resources for the league. With a greater prize at stake in the league it will surely win over. The squad is indeed light, but there is a togetherness at Palace rarely seen.

We've mentioned that Crystal Palace have become a bit of a bogey side for Liverpool of late and the two teams are facing eah other again next month, this time at Anfield, with a date for their Carabao Cup fourth-round tie confirmed for Wednesday, 29 October at 19:45 BST.

These are the teams left in the competition, and the usual suspects are there, but if Oliver Glasner comes away from Merseyside with a win, can Palace make it to Wembley?

    • Grimsby Town v Brentford
    • Swansea City v Manchester City
    • Newcastle United v Tottenham
    • Wrexham v Cardiff City
    • Liverpool v Crystal Palace

The real test will be juggling multiple competitions and trying to minimise injuries. It's a new experience for them and Glasner knows that this year will be a learning curve for him and Crystal Palace. Hats off to him though, for all the criticism he got when he started he stuck to his guns and they are reaping the rewards.

  8. Palace's squad 'too thin' to mount title challengepublished at 11:08 BST

    Chris Sutton
Former Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live's Monday Night Club

Crystal Palace's squad is too thin [to mount a title challenge], but granted their starting XI is superb.

They are well-organised with their back three of Chris Richards, Maxence Lacroix and Marc Guehi but they are missing Eberechi Eze, there's no doubt about that.

Oliver Glasner did an interview where he said there is too much onus on systems and not enough on habits. His philosophy is to go in, assess the players that he has and try to get the best out of the group.

That's exactly what he has done at Crystal Palace, and they are so good at what they do. They may well finish high up in the table if they keep everybody fit and keep Guehi in January.

  9. Palace stars move onpublished at 11:03 BST

Eberechi Eze and Michael OliseImage source, Getty Images

Losing star players can be a huge blow to teams trying to crack the top four but for now, Oliver Glasner has navigated his losses well.

First, winger Michael Olise left Crystal Palace to join German side Bayern Munich for about 60m euros (£50m) in the summer 20204 then this year, England forward Eberechi Eze joined Arsenal in a deal worth £60m, including £8m in add-ons in August.

One player Glasner did keep hold of and who could prove central to any Palace success this season is defender Marc Guehi. The 25-year-old's deadline day move to Liverpool fell through when Palace refused to sanction the transfer, as they faced difficulties in sorting a replacement.

With Reds centre-back Giovanni Leoni out for a year after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament this month, will Glasner have to prepare himself for another Guehi bid in January?

Palace won’t be able to do a Leicester, as we can see the “big 6” are already ripping apart their FA cup winning team (or trying to) I’d say it would be like a Fulham when they made the Europa final and then edged themself back to relegation.

  12. 'Glasner never seems to bat an eyelid'published at 10:54 BST

    Rory Smith
Football Correspondent for The Observer on BBC Radio 5 Live's Monday Night Club

What's amazing is how well Oliver Glasner has drilled his systems into the players, how quickly he has managed that and how he has managed to do it consistently.

He lost Michael Olise last summer, Eberechi Eze this summer and he came really close to losing Marc Guehi, but he doesn't ever seem to bat an eyelid.

He accepts that stuff will change around him, sometimes the circumstances will be challenging and sometimes he will have to put his foot down, but it never detracts from the work he does.

There is genuinely no ceiling at the moment. I think the outcome of the season hangs with how many key players get injured. If everyone stays fit, there’s no reason why we don’t continue this form.

    Adam, Chelmsford

The way Palace are playing who's to say they can't do a Leicester? They are organised, don't concede many goals and in Mateta they have a powerful striker who if he stays fit could make all the difference in games. Ismaïla Sarr is quality too.

    Steph Houghton
Former Manchester City captain on BBC Radio 5 Live's Monday Night Club

Teams will be slightly jealous of Crystal Palace's recent success.

They kind of went under the radar but rightly so we're now talking about them. They are sitting second in the Premier League and are performing unbelievably.

To carry on their form after winning the FA Cup and Community Shield last season, and losing the likes of Eberechi Eze who was a key player for them, is massive.

They have been really good watch. You can tell they are really well coached and the players are desperate to win.

Crystal Palace are on a high in the early stages of the season as they sit third in the Premier League table, one point off second-placed Arsenal and three away from leaders Liverpool.

  19. Palace's unbeaten runpublished at 10:17 BST

    Longest unbeaten runsImage source, .

Crystal Palace may have been demoted from the Europa League last month but they're riding high in other continent-related tables, and are currently on the longest unbeaten run of any club in Europe's top five leagues.

Their streak of 18 matches without defeat is at least twice as long as that of giants Barcelona and Bayern Munich, who are next best in the rankings.

The run includes two wins and a draw against Liverpool, an FA Cup final victory over Manchester City, and draws at both Arsenal and Chelsea.

It's an incredible turnaround by a team that lost five of their first eight top-flight games last season, only registering their first league win at the end of October.

Only Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City have won more Premier League points than Palace in 2025, while the Eagles' defence have conceded just three goals in their opening six league matches this season, even though four of those six games have come against teams who finished in the top seven in 2024-25.

  20. Statement win against Liverpoolpublished at 10:09 BST

Eddie Nketiah celebrates scoring a last-minute goal against LiverpoolImage source, Getty Images

Crystal Palace fans were singing "we're going to win the league" on Saturday after Eddie Nketiah's last-gasp winner against Premier League champions Liverpool at Selhurst Park and while tongues may have been firmly in cheeks in the stands, can they actually challenge for the top prize this season?

In the first half against Arne Slot's side, only Brazilian brick wall Alisson Becker stopped Palace from taking a sizable lead before half-time. Oliver Glasner has become a slight thorn in the Dutchman's side in recent fixtures and he once again got his tactics right when up against Liverpool.

As cheif football writer Phil McNulty wrote: "Palace possess strength through the spine of their side - from Dean Henderson in goal, captain Marc Guehi in defence, Adam Wharton in midfield and a thrilling attack in which striker Jean-Philippe Mateta may be erratic, but a constant danger."
