  1. HALF-TIMEpublished at 18:15 BST 11 October

    Oldham 0-0 Barrow

Robert Massey-Ellis blows up almost exactly on 45 minutes - which kinda tells the story of the half.

Barrow started well, Oldham looked on top for a while, but ultimately it has been very even.

55%-44% on the possession. Oldham have had six shots, but none on target. Barrow have had one shot, but that was on target.

    Oldham 0-0 Barrow

This time Ben Whitfield does get on the end of Elliot Newby's cross.

The ball is stood up for so long it is a defender's nightmare, especially when they get stuck underneath it.

Whitfield is coming on quickly, but can't keep the ball down. He wants a corner. He doesn't get one.

    Oldham 0-0 Barrow

Two tantalising crosses from Elliot Newby, two tantalising crosses not gambled on by the Barrow strikers.

    Oldham 0-0 Barrow

This short corner very nearly worked.

Tom Petts recieves the ball on the angle of the box. He fires towards goal, and it takes a deflection one way and then the other before cannoning off the advertising hoardings.

Barrow are riding their luck here.

  5. 'They are causing Barrow problems'published at 18:00 BST 11 October

They are worryingly giving a few of these Oldham players a little bit too much respect.

They are causing Barrow one or two problems.

    Oldham 0-0 Barrow

It is all Oldham at the moment.

But for all their four shots, none have been on target.

Joe Quigley the latest to miss the target as he bends one over the crossbar.

    Oldham 0-0 Barrow

After that early scare, Wyll Stanway has been brilliant coming for crosses.

His latest voyage off his line sees him punch Ryan Woods' free-kick from safety.

Stanway isn't tested a few moments later when Luke Hannant fires wide from 20 yards.

Barrow are playing the more attractive football, and are almost rewarded for their aesthetics.

After a quick passing move, Ben Whitfield is sent down the right channel of the box, but doesn't get hold of his shot.

Matthew Hudson gratefully dives on the powerless shot...which is our first on target this evening!

  9. Postpublished at 17 mins

    Oldham 0-0 Barrow

Much more confident this time from Wyll Stanway.

Off his line with authority to catch Ryan Woods' dangerous cross.

    Oldham 0-0 Barrow

Wyll Stanway's heart is beating fast.

The Barrow goalkeeper came a long way not to claim the ball.

Instead, Joe Quigley nods down to Luke Hannant, who can't keep his shot down - to Stanway's relief.

    Oldham 0-0 Barrow

That isn't what Mickey Mellon would have taught on the training ground.

Ryan Woods' corner picks out Kai Payne on the edge of the box.

It looks like it is sitting up nicely for a volley, but the midfielder controls and tries to return to Wood, but only knocks out of play.

Their centre back partners must wonder why they trudged up the pitch for the corner...

    A bright start from Barrow.

And we're not just talking about their yellow shirts, which would stand out in the dead of night.

Ben Whitfield's early corner doesn't pull up any trees but the visitors have been camped in the Oldham half.

  13. Postpublished at 3 mins

    Oldham 0-0 Barrow

Oldham have made four changes for this one, including the enforced alteration of Tom Conlon - who is going to miss the majority of the rest of the season with an ACL injury.

Donervon Daniels is also absent with a knee problem, while Jake Caprice and Kane Drummond move to the bench.

In come Will Sutton, Reagan Ogle, Tom Pett and Luke Hannott.

  15. 'We like that underdog tag' - Barrow boss Whingpublished at 17:25 BST 11 October

To round out the day, Barrow head to Oldham.

Oldham have spent 115 of the last 118 seasons in the Football League. Barrow returned to top four tiers five years ago after 48 years in non-league.

There is little surprise, then, that the Bluebirds boss Andy Whing, who was a sofa salesman three years ago, is holding onto underdog status.

"A club the size of ours, the owner has done brilliantly to get us to where we've got to, but we rent a training ground while other clubs have got bigger squads, bigger budgets, even academies they can use, so we're on the back foot already," he said.

"You're squeezing every little last drop out of players and staff to keep going and keep building. We're really fortunate that we've got a really good group of players willing to work hard and staff who work their absolute socks off and that's how we try to build day in, day out.

"We like that underdog tag, going away to clubs like Oldham and beating them, especially at their places."

Both sides are hovering around mid-table, and both know a good run will put them into play-off contention.

The Latics have only scored four times at home this season but have the most clean sheets in League Two, while Barrow are on a three-match unbeaten run.

We aren't done in League Two just yet so make sure to stick around to see Oldham take on Barrow for a late afternoon match.

But here's a couple of statistics to keep you busy until then.

    • Alfie Kilgour's own goal after 7:10 was the second earliest that Bristol Rovers have conceded on Opta record in the EFL (since 2013-14), after Luke Leahy's vs Ipswich Town in April 2021 (41 seconds).
    • No player across England’s top four tiers so far in 2025-26 has more assists than Grimsby Town’s Charles Vernam (5), with only Bromley’s Mitch Pinnock (35) creating more chances than the Mariners’ winger in League Two (23).
    • In their match vs Cambridge United today, Shrewsbury Town netted multiple goals in the first half of a home league game for the first time since November 2024. The Shrews had previously failed to score in the opening half of any of their prior 13 home matches.
    • Newport County kept their first league clean sheet of the season in their win at Accrington Stanley, leaving just Watford as the only one of the 72 EFL sides yet to keep one this term.
    • At 18 years and 337 days, Micah Mbick became the youngest player to score twice in a league game for Colchester United since Kwame Poku in March 2020 (18y 209d vs Carlisle).
    • Since the start of the 2024-25 season, Bromley’s Michael Cheek has netted 31 league goals, the joint-most of any player across England’s top four tiers alongside Manchester City’s Erling Haaland and Liverpool’s Mo Salah.

League One's action for the day may be over but we've still got some stats for you to feast on while we wait for the final game of the afternoon to get under way.

    • Sam Hoskins’ opener from the penalty spot against Rotherham was his 100th goal in all competitions for Northampton Town.
    • 20-year-old Dom Ballard is the youngest player to score a Football League hat-trick for Leyton Orient since an 18-year-old Josh Koroma against Newport County in March 2017.
    • Reading's Jack Marriott became the first player to score in each of their first five starts of a League One season since Nouha Dicko for Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2013-14.
    • Bolton are winless in their last nine away league games (D4 L5), their longest run without a win on the road since going 12 games between November 2019 and September 2020.
    • Doncaster Rovers 4-0 defeat to Leyton Orient today is the first time in 76 league games that the South Yorkshire side have lost by a 4+ goal margin, since a 5-1 home loss to Stockport County in January 2024.
    • With his strike v Wigan today, Wycombe's Sam Bell netted in successive EFL games for just the second time in his career, after completing the feat for Bristol City vs QPR and Preston North End in the Championship in 2023.

Stockport were the only team in the top 17 in this morning's League One table to win today.

Their slender home win over lowly Blackpool took them up to fourth, above AFC Wimbledon on goals scored after the Dons were pegged back by Port Vale late-on.

Barnsley moved up a spot without even playing, courtesy of Bolton's heavy defeat at Burton.

It was a good day for the basement-boys in general as Rotherham snatched a late win at Northampton in the early kick-off while Wycombe also picked up the points at Wigan and Leyton Orient moved clear of trouble with a thumping 4-0 win over Doncaster.

Reading slip into the drop-zone despite a draw at Exeter, with inactive Peterborough now effectively six points from safety, albeit with a game in hand.

  19. 'A point apiece felt about right'published at 17:16 BST 11 October

    FT: Crawley 1-1 Walsall

    Emily Herbert
BBC Radio 5 Live at Broadfield Stadium

A point apiece felt about right.

Crawley have struggled this season and sit outside the relegation places by one point after coming down last year, but they showed they can rise to the occasion by holding league leaders Walsall at Broadfield Stadium.

Scott Lindsey’s decision to start a front three of McKirdy, Loft and Tshimanga injected energy, caused problems for the Walsall back line and saw Crawley dominate possession.

Walsall weren’t short of chances, but lacked quality in the final third and were quiet for long spells. They remain top of the table, two points clear, but after slipping away last season, performances like this may give supporters cause for concern.

  20. League Two full-time headlinespublished at 17:13 BST 11 October

    #bbcefl

    • Walsall missed the chance to move four points clear at the top of the table but Connor Barrett's goal made sure they came back to draw with Crawley.
    • Gillingham move into the top three after leaving it late to draw 1-1 with Cheltenham. The Robins are now bottom of the table.
    • And that is because Newport won for the first time in the league since 9 August, by beating Accrington. Shrewsbury also won, as none of the bottom four lost.
    • MK Dons are up to fourth after demolishing Bristol Rovers 4-0, they overtake Grimsby - who threw away a lead to lose 2-1 to Colchester.
    • Wins for Chesterfield and Barnet put them into the play-off places. Fleetwood and Bromley also take three points.
