Danny Collinge's late equaliser salvaged a valuable point for Barnet in a spirited draw at home to Colchester.

Jack Tucker gave Colchester an early lead after a clever free-kick routine involving Teddy Bishop and Jack Payne.

Arthur Read's effort was blocked, but the loose ball fell to Tucker who drilled it into the bottom corner.

The Bees equalised in stoppage time following a dangerous counter-attack. Idris Kanu's low cross found Collinge who beat the last defender to drill the ball home and share the spoils.

The U's almost made a dream start when Samson Tovide threaded a brilliant pass to Read whose low shot was superbly saved by Barnet goalkeeper Cieran Slicker.

However, the visitors did take the lead in the eighth minute when Tucker poked home to stun the hosts.

Payne nearly doubled the lead with a long-range effort, but Slicker recovered to save. Barnet responded as Ryan Glover headed narrowly wide from an Anthony Hartigan corner.

The hosts started the second half strongly and came close when Glover's curling shot was superbly blocked by Tucker.

Ollie Kensdale had a powerful header straight at Colchester goalkeeper Matt Macey before Collinge's equaliser saw both sides share the spoils.
