Kamari Doyle and Josh Magennis were on target to help Exeter to an away win at Shrewsbury and move them up to fourth in the League One table.

The victory means the Grecians take their unbeaten run to six games, with Gary Caldwell's side also setting a club record of six straight clean sheets with on-loan Crystal Palace goalkeeper Joe Whitworth outstanding for the visitors.

Toto Nsiala gifted Exeter a goal in the opening stages. The centre-back was disposed by Doyle, whose powerful shot found the bottom corner.

Shrewsbury came close just past the 20-minute mark but Funso Ojo shot straight at Whitworth, whose parried save found John Marquis, and his short-range effort was pushed away for a corner by the 20-year-old.

Just before half time, Marquis threaded a ball into Jordan Rossiter in the danger zone, but Whitworth saved his effort.

Exeter reassumed control in the second half as substitute Jack Aitchison received a pass in the middle of the box just before the hour mark but his effort went way wide.

Tristan Crama then found Aitchison in the box in the 65th minute to finish the hosts off. The forward drove a low ball to the back post for fellow replacement Magennis to fire home for his first goal in a red and white shirt, which sealed the Grecians’ victory.
