Match Facts

  • This will be the first ever meeting between Barcelona and Brest. The Spanish side have lost their last two games against French sides in the UEFA Champions League, both of which have been in 2024: 1-4 v Paris SG in April and 1-2 v Monaco in September.

  • When facing a team for the first time in European competition, Barcelona are unbeaten in their last 20 such matches (W17 D3). The last team to beat them in their first such European meeting was Rubin Kazan in October 2009 (1-2).

  • Barcelona have won each of their last three UEFA Champions League matches by at least a three-goal margin. Only four sides have ever won more consecutive games in the European Cup/Champions League by three or more goals: Paris SG in 2017 (5), Bayern Munich (4 in 2020 and 2021), Leeds United in 1969 (4) and Reims in 1958 (4).

  • Brest are one of just six teams who are yet to lose a game in the UEFA Champions League this season (P4 W3 D1). The last French side to go unbeaten in their first five matches ever in the competition was Bordeaux, who didn’t lose any of their first six in 1999-00 (W3 D2).

  • Barcelona have scored more goals than any other team in the UEFA Champions League this season (15), while their shot conversion rate (25.9%) is also a tournament high. Half of the players to have scored 5+ goals in the competition this term have done so for Barcelona (2/4): Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha.

  • In the UEFA Champions League this season, Barcelona have netted the most goals in the 15 minutes leading up to half time (5) and the joint-most in the opening 15 minutes of the second half (4). However, Brest have conceded just one goal in either of those two time periods in the competition this term (1 against in the 45th minute against Sturm Graz).

  • Brest have scored the joint-most goals from outside the box in the UEFA Champions League this season (3 – level with Aston Villa and PSV), and have netted from range in three different games in the competition this term (v Sturm Graz, RB Salzburg and Bayer Leverkusen).

  • Barcelona forward Robert Lewandowski is just one goal away from becoming the third player to score 100 goals in European Cup/UEFA Champions League history (99 goals in 124 games), after Lionel Messi (129) and Cristiano Ronaldo (140). This would be Lewandowski’s 125th appearance in the Champions League, with only Messi (123) reaching 100 goals in fewer games (137 for Ronaldo).

  • Barcelona’s Raphinha has been directly involved in 11 goals in the UEFA Champions League in 2024 (8 goals, 3 assists). If he scores or assists in this match, he’ll equal the record for goal involvements by a Brazilian player in a single calendar year in the competition (12), previously achieved by Neymar (2015 and 2017), Giovane Élber (2001) and Rivaldo (2000).

  • Abdallah Sima has netted three goals in three appearances for Brest in the UEFA Champions League this season. The only Senegalese player to score more in a single season in the competition is Sadio Mané, who did so on three occasions (10 in 2017-18, 5 in 2021-22 and 4 in 2018-19).
