Shamrock Rovers came from behind to beat The New Saints 2-1 and maintain their unbeaten record in the Europa Conference League.

Jordan Williams fired the Welsh side ahead after just 14 minutes at the Tallaght Stadium.

But goals from Celtic loanee Johnny Kenny and Dylan Watts earned the Irish Premier Division side all three points in south Dublin.

It means Shamrock Rovers have taken seven points from their opening three fixtures in the European competition.

TNS have three points at the midway stage of the league phase of the tournament ahead of matches against Djurgarden, Panathinaikos and Celje.

Stephen Bradley's side controlled proceedings from the outset, and Kenny lashed wide after just 17 seconds in what was an early warning sign for The New Saints.

However, as they did in their 2-0 triumph over Astana last time out, Craig Harrison's side slowly grew in confidence.

German goalkeeper Leon Pohls had to be alert to claw the ball to safety after Declan McManus' header deflected off Lee Grace.

And the Saints took the lead from the very next attack as Ryan Brobbel's cross fell to Williams who drilled beyond Pohls in the 14th minute.

But the hosts needed just nine minutes to level proceedings as Neil Farrugia flicked Watts' pass into the path of Kenny who rifled beyond Connor Roberts via the underside of the crossbar.

Having regained control, Shamrock went ahead six minutes before half-time as Darragh Burns' cross was poked home by Watts.

The home side looked the likelier to get the game's fourth goal, but Watts was unable to guide his effort on target just after the hour mark having jinked his way through the TNS defence.

The Saints pushed for a late equaliser as they look to remain in the hunt for a top-24 spot that will earn them a play-off place, but Harrison's men saw their seven-game winning run in all competitions come to an end as the hosts held on for victory.

Post-match reaction

The New Saints boss Craig Harrison told Sgorio:

"We've performed well in patches of the game. If we'd have got through to half time in front or at 1-1, it might have been a different story.

"You've got to be honest, I thought Shamrock Rovers deserved to win on the night.

"At this level, it's only our third game, so it's really important that we don't get too down and negative."
