Former Tranmere striker Andy Cook hit a brace against his old club as Bradford moved into the play-off spots with victory at Prenton Park.

Both sides were limited to shots from distance in the early exchanges, with Cameron Norman and Kieron Morris firing over for Rovers, and Jamie Walker doing likewise for the visitors.

But Cook broke the deadlock after 23 minutes, finding the bottom corner from the edge of the area for his sixth goal of the season.

Omari Patrick fired straight at Bradford goalkeeper Sam Walker, while Tom Davies headed narrowly wide just before half-time as the hosts looked to respond.

Tranmere threatened after the break, with Connor Jennings and Lee O’Connor going close, while at the other end, Calum Kavanagh’s fierce shot stung the palms of Luke McGee.

The points were secured for the Bantams in the 72nd minute when Cook raced onto a Kavanagh pass to slot his second of the game and seventh of the campaign.
