Juventus' last 16 hopes hit by goalless draw at Club Brugge
Juventus' hopes of reaching the Champions League last 16 were dealt a blow by a goalless draw away at Club Brugge.
Thiago Motta's side came into the match off the back of a 2-0 Serie A victory over AC Milan on Saturday, but in Belgium they struggled to turn their dominance into opportunities.
The hosts spurned the first clear chance of the night early in the second half, but Ferran Jutgla was unable to convert after Juventus goalkeeper Michele di Gregorio misplaced a pass when under pressure.
Juventus should have taken the lead shortly after, but Nicolas Gonzalez completely miscued his shot when all he needed to do was convert Samuel Mbangula's ball across the face of goal.
Motta turned to Dusan Vlahovic, Francisco Conceicao and Kenan Yildiz on the bench but the trio were unable to inspire much creativity.
It took 84 minutes for the night's first shot on target to arrive - home goalkeeper Simon Mignolet was able to tip Manuel Locatelli's drive round the post.
The Serie A side have now kept three consecutive clean sheets in the Champions League, their longest run since 2016-17, when they reached the final.
Juventus' third draw of this Champions League campaign - their 16th in 29 games in all competitions this season - leaves them 14th in the table with 12 points.
Victory against Benfica - who lost 5-4 to Barcelona on Tuesday - next week would guarantee Juventus a place in the play-offs at least.
