Match Facts
Crvena Zvezda and PSV have met just twice before in European competition, with both of those coming in qualifying for the 2004-05 UEFA Champions League. After winning 3-2 at home in the first leg, Crvena Zvezda were eliminated in the third round, following a 0-5 defeat in the second leg on the road.
This will be just the third time that teams from Serbia/Yugoslavia and the Netherlands have faced off in the European Cup/UEFA Champions League, with the previous two games coming back in the Last 16 of the 1956-57 European Cup - Crvena Zvezda won 6-3 on aggregate against Rapid JC Heerlen (4-3 away, 2-0 at home).
Crvena Zvezda have won just 11 points in 24 games in the UEFA Champions League since their debut in the competition in 2018 (W3 D2 L19), though all 11 have come at home, including a 5-1 win over Stuttgart on MD5, their biggest ever win in the competition.
PSV have won two of their last three games in the UEFA Champions League (L1), while with a win here, could record their most victories in a single campaign in the competition since 2015-16 (3).
Crvena Zvezda are on the longest current run of UEFA Champions League games without a clean sheet (20), with their last one in the competition coming against Liverpool in November 2018 (2-0).
PSV haven’t kept a clean sheet away from home in the UEFA Champions League since March 2016 (0-0 draw with Atlético de Madrid), conceding 29 goals in their last 13 away matches in the competition (an average of 2.2 per game).
Four different Crvena Zvezda players have played every minute for the club in the UEFA Champions League this season (Nasser Djiga, Seol Young-Woo, Timi Elsnik and Uros Spajic); the joint-most for any team in 2024-25, along with Club Brugge (4).
Malik Tillman has been directly involved in five goals in six UEFA Champions League appearances for PSV this season (two goals, three assists); the most by a player for the Dutch side since 2004-05 (both Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink and Phillip Cocu involved in six that season).
PSV’s Johan Bakayoko has had the most shots following a ball carry (12) and created the joint most chances following a ball carry (8) in this season’s UEFA Champions League, while only three players have carried the ball a further distance than Bakayoko (1,450m).
Nemanja Radonjic has scored three goals in just 73 minutes of football for Crvena Zvezda in the UEFA Champions League this season, with all three coming as a substitute. Only five players have ever netted more goals off the bench in a single campaign, with Real Madrid’s Rodrygo in 2021-22 the last to do so (4).
