I've just seen the replay of the goal back and I think there was a bit of a mix up between Jenna Clark and Rachael Laws, with each of them leaving the clearance to the other player.

I'd say Matt Beard will have some words to say about that.

The back three experiment is over for Villa.

They are lining up this half in a 4-2-3-1, with one of three half time changes being full back Sarah Mayling replacing winger Katie Robinson.

Miri Taylor and Lucy Staniforth are on as holding midfielders, replacing Jordan Nobbs and Missy Bo Kearns. Rachel Daly is the number 10, behind Gabi Nunes.

Crystal Palace

Finally from Crystal Palace boss Laura Kaminski speaking to BBC Radio London: "Every game has a specific game plan and the players need to understand it, digest it and apply it and you need to be clever to understand the instructions that we are asking them to do. The subs that came on were extremely effective, I was really pleased with them, I thought their attitude was great to finish us off. Got us higher up the pitch with pressure on the ball. For me, the positive signs are there and it is just steps now. It's not going to turn around overnight.

On Palace skipper Aimee Everett still being out: "Aimee is ok, we're just managing it in house. She took a bit of a knock in training a few weeks ago now and we are being cautious. It is a bit longer than what we thought initially but that's ok, we're coming to a close with that now as we enter the final stages of her rehab.

"We anticipated she would be back a little bit quicker but it's just taking longer and making sure we don't rush her. She's a player that has transitioned from the Championship to the WSL. We know the demands and we have to make sure that when players do get knocks and have some time out, we're not rushing them back.

"I need Aimee, she is a top, top player and the players that have filled in her boots have performed excellently, I think they have stepped up to the plate. When Aimee is back in and around the group, we will see."

Crystal Palace

More from Crystal Palace boss Laura Kaminski speaking to BBC Radio London on the chances her side had in the game: "Man City have quality in terms of if you switch off for one minute in the box, it's in the back of the net. We're talking about absorbing a high amount of crosses throughout the whole game. To focus and concentrate, to defend those crosses is very difficult for a player under fatigue, as well as getting out of low, deep areas. That's where Man City can pin you in those areas. We know there are small margins between us and some are larger than others but we just need to focus on, at this moment in time, the basics of our shape and how it works and how it can get results out of top sides."

On whether she is seeing improvements from her team: "Definitely. The scoreline suggests there has been a direct improvement in terms of conceding goals. We hit the bar, we've had chances as well so the quality is there, it just needs fine-tuning. We forget that only two months ago these players landed in the training ground in London and some of them have come from a long way apart and have had to relocate.

"These are not excuses but things don't happen overnight. These plans of where we want to take the club and where the club deserves to be because of its commitment to the women's team. It deserves to compete with these sides and there's no reason it can't but it won't happen overnight. We'll keep working on making the gap smaller between us and them."

On the progress her team has made when they get chances: "We had chances against Liverpool that we were disappointed not to put away as well. They need to stay confident in their ability in the box and

"I watch them train every day and I know they have got the technical ability to do it. The chances for me are not half-chances, they are clean cut so we need to make sure we are getting good contact on the ball, we are making good decisions and we putting the ball in the back of the net but as ever, it will come."

Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace boss Laura Kaminski speaking to BBC Radio London: "So proud [on what she saw from her side], we speak about closing the gap between us and top sides and that was as our plan and that is our journey. I think Manchester City are top of the table at the moment so playing that side is a huge challenge. It needs a battle mindset, it needs hard work. We asked them to be a little bit more aggressive and I think if we do that for longer bouts of the game.

"In terms of where we're at and our journey in terms of being a newly-promoted side, to go 3-0 into Man City, it shows direct progression against the game against Chelsea which was only five games ago.

"It shows that closing the gap and margins between us and top sides is on course and there is no reason why this team can't compete, draw or win against a top side but it might just take us a little bit longer. This league needs many attributes to be able to compete in every single fixture. It is chalk and cheese between some games so having the players that are tactically able to do that with the correct mindset, have a good group, there's no reason why they can't do it and for us it will come.

On whether she prepared for defeat against Manchester City: "No. Anything can happen on any day. We had confidence building into the fixture, we had great confidence in our shape and there is no reason why that shape can't compete against top sides."

Manchester City

Manchester City manager Gareth Taylor, speaking after his side extended their unbeaten start to the WSL season: "We always look at these games as being difficult after the international break because you get limited time with players and you're asking players to acclimatise to getting back to the things we do at club level.

"The squad coped really well today. It's important to get clean sheets and we dominated as we thought we would do. Palace have done well, they've caused teams problems and are dangerous on the counter-attack.

I was pleased with the performance today from a lot of players. We got some younger players on the pitch at the end and they look like they've got promising futures."

On winning an eighth game in succession: "It's 10 games in all competitions unbeaten, one draw and nine wins. When you look at some of the opposition in there it's pretty impressive, but we don't get ahead of ourselves, we try to stay humble and are aware of areas we need to improve on.

"We had a really good start to the season before the international break and it's important we pick up the baton and go again."

On the overall performance: "Players can be a little bit off it after the international break. It goes to show the level of quality we have and the learning of the players and how they can get back into sync with us pretty quickly. It was impressive.

"I'm always impressed with us in terms of when we dictate the play and control games. It took us a little bit longer than normal today but you have to give Palace credit for that. Our players stood up to it and it was a really good performance."

On whether he feels the Man City squad is at its strongest as the club marked its 200th WSL appearance: "If you think of some players I had in my first two seasons, we had some top players. We are have probably improved in myself having more time to develop the ideas and to do that we need to be spot on with recruitment and the players we are growing from the academy.

"Performance is what I'm about and results hopefully take care of themselves after that."

On Khadija Shaw taking the captain's armband: "She has done it well. She is an inspiring personality to work with. She is really determined to do well and make the best of her career. She's had an interesting journey, coming from Jamaica and having to battle really hard to get to the level she is at and prove people wrong. She's doing it now on a weekly basis.

"We have six captains. Lauren [Hemp] was excellent today too. She had the bit between her teeth and was so explosive from the left hand side."

It's been a good couple of weeks for Taylor Hinds.

She received her first call-up and made her debut for Jamaica in the international break and now she's netted two first-half goals for Liverpool.

Not bad going, that.

Whatever Robert de Pauw had his Villa squad work on over the international break, it has not paid off. A disjointed, limp, lifeless first 45 minutes from the Villans.

This could be a huge half-time team talk in De Pauw's reign.

Aston Villa are going to need something spectacular if they are to pull this one back and grab a first victory of the season.

Fewer boos this time, more a resigned sense of inevitability. Once again, it was too easy for Liverpool to cut the hosts open.

That would have been harsh had the referee gave that one.

Aston Villa’s Jordan Nobbs is the all-time top scorer against Liverpool in the WSL, with 10 goals against the Reds in her career.

She will have to do a lot better than that free kick to earn goal number 11.

The referee took her time with that one, but she eventually blows the whistle as Adriana Leon is brought down by Ceri Holland.

Villa have got themselves a free-kick in a very dangerous area, right in front of the penalty area, but it all comes to nothing as Jordan Nobbs skies it over the crossbar.
