A first win of the season is looking unlikely for Villa at this point, but can they salvage a point?

She slides in and sends the ball out for a corner to put a halt to Chasity Grant's darting run.

The corner comes to nothing, though. Time is running out for Aston Villa.

A crunching tackle from Lucy Staniforth, who slides in at the perfect moment to stop Ceri Holland from breaking forward at pace.

Robert De Pauw makes one last roll of the dice, too.

Adriana Leon and Kirsty Hanson are replaced by Chasity Grant and Kenza Dali.

Aston Villa have been very good in this second half, just as they were very good in the first half against Manchester City - and good in spells through most of their games this season.

The problem has been putting together a decent 90 minutes. As it stands, that will cost them once again.

More changes for Liverpool.

It's a case of hit and hope for Liverpool at the moment as they try and get out of their own half.

Villa are doing a good job at pegging them in as they push for an equaliser.

Kirsty Hanson has been a real livewire in this second half, she drifts in from the left before taking aim, but the strike isn't troubling Rachael Laws.

More handball appeals - this time in favour of Aston Villa as the ball bounces off Jenna Clark's knee and up to her outstretched arm.

Matt Beards makes his move, bringing off Leanne Kiernan and Grace Fisk.

On come Cornelia Kapocs and Lucy Parry.

That was an audacious effort by Olivia Smith as she sees Sabrina D'Angelo off her line.

But the Canadian is well off the mark, missing both the distance and the direction.

Boos and cries of "the referee's a Scouser" as Phoebe Cross blows her whistle after Liverpool keeper Rachel Laws collided with Jenna Clark, her own defender - thus ending a Villa attack.

In fairness to Cross, it could have been a head injury to Clark so she had no choice but to stop play.

Ouch. Rachael Laws is the demanding figure in her box and she comes out to punch an incoming Aston Villa cross, but she clatters into team-mate Jenna Clark.

The centre-back clutches her head and the medics are quickly on, but she's fine to carry on.

That's brilliant from Olivia Smith, who is so strong as she steals the ball from Miri Taylor and the referee shows the substitute a yellow as she pulls at Smith's shirt to stop the counter.

Aston Villa look like a completely different side.

They're pushing forward with intent and Rachael Laws suddenly has a lot more to do in the Liverpool goal.

A big, big save from Rachael Laws to stop Kirsty Hanson's strike.

The Liverpool goalkeeper had to get down quickly there, and she makes the save by sticking out her feet.

There's definitely much more speed and coherence to Aston Villa in this half, and the game has benefitted as a result. A very engrossing watch now.

The fans have responded too, a huge reaction to Rachel Laws being forced to save with her leg there.

A quick reaction from Sabrina D'Angelo denies a glancing header from Gemma Bonner, although it was straight at the Aston Villa keeper.
