The cross was just floating away from Alessia Russo. If the cross had come in earlier from Mariona Caldentey, Russo could have met it on the run and gotten some real power on the header.

Arsenal needed a finisher on the pitch, is Beth Mead the answer? The likes of Caitlin Foord and Frida Maanum had half chances in the first half that they didn't take, Alessia Russo had a few too. Mead will naturally drift inside towards the box and take up those central positions.

Alessia Russo has to do better there. She's unmarked in the box and has all the time in the world to figure out where to place her header, but she nods it straight at Phallon Tullis-Joyce.

Arsenal are piling bodies forward to try and get an early goal in this second half.

Manchester City boss Gareth Taylor said Manchester City will get an "enhanced version" of Vivianne Miedema when she returns from her latest injury setback.

The 28-year-old forward has not played since 9 October and has since had surgery on her left knee.

"It was a really minor procedure," Taylor said. "A slight niggle Viv had that we felt might have gone away. But after discussions with the surgeons they decided to do a small procedure and I think it’s really going to help Viv."

Crystal Palace make two changes following the draw with Liverpool last time out.

Katrine Veje and Mille Gejl drop out of the starting lineup with Josie Green and Shanade Hopcroft coming in.

Manchester City are looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the season and boss Gareth Taylor makes three changes from the 2-1 win against Aston Villa.

Khiara Keating replaces Ayaka Yamashita in goal, while Alanna Kennedy and Aoba Fujino come in for Laia Alexandri and Mary Lopez.

Tottenham's only win in the WSL this season came when they beat newly-promoted Crystal Palace 4-0 on the opening weekend.

Since then, they have picked up just one point in the league and sit eighth in the table.

Spurs boss Robert Vilahamn spoke to the media ahead of this fixture and said: "We want to bounce back, make sure we have a good game and a good result against West Ham.

"No matter what result is in that game, we will play in even more games in the league but, obviously, it’s an important game to make sure we start winning again and make sure we get some points in the table as well.”

West Ham are one of three WSL sides, along with Aston Villa and Everton, without a win after their opening five games.

Hammers boss Rehanne Skinner said on facing Spurs: "I think it's important that we go into the game really prepared to put up the fight that we've shown in every game.

"I've got no doubt the players are 100 per cent up for the game, and I think in all instances, when we play London teams, everybody is really up for the fight.

"This is a window of opportunity for us, and regardless of what's happening with them [Tottenham], I think we're in a good place, and that's the only thing that we can really control.

"If you look at that chunk of teams that are really close, it's always the same, and there's not a lot of difference within it. So, these games kind of help you to create a little bit of a gap between yourselves and other people.

"It's important that we do take points from these types of games. I think there will be goals in the game, for sure."

Robert Vilahamn makes two changes to his Tottenham side that suffered a 5-2 defeat to Chelsea, with Ella Morris and Martha Thomas coming in for Amanda Nilden and Olga Ahtinen.

Rehanne Skinner also makes two changes as West Ham look to bounce back from a 2-0 loss to Arsenal. Defenders Li Mengwen and Shannon Cooke drop out for Camila Saez and full debutant Manuela Pavi.

Brighton are on a brilliant, mini run.

Since losing to Manchester City a few months back they have beaten Birmingham in the League Cup, bruised past Aston Villa 4-2 and edged out rivals (can we call them that?) Crystal Palace.

Last time out they managed to get a cheeky draw against Manchester United and are, impressively, up to fourth.

Leicester were on a mini-slump, losing two and drawing two. That was until their last match when they got a neat, narrow 1-0 win over Everton.

Earlier this week, Leicester boss Amandine Miquel confirmed Noemie Mouchon will miss the rest of the season after rupturing her anterior cruciate ligament.

The 21-year-old is the latest player in the Women's Super League to suffer an ACL injury this season after Everton duo Aurora Galli and Inma Gabarro, and Liverpool's Sofie Lundgaard.

"We weren't sure straight away, but we have now assessed the injury to Noemie Mouchon. It's probably the longest injury she could have," Miquel said on Thursday.

"We can't say a time right now but she'll be out for the season."

Dario Vidosic has made two changes to the Brighton side that drew 1-1 with Man Utd before the international break.

Maria Thorisdottir and Pauline Bremer drop out of the side while Madison Haley and Rachel McLauchlan start.
