Match Facts
Galatasaray and Bodø/Glimt will meet for the first time in European competition, while the Turkish side have previously only faced one Norwegian opponent in the UEFA Champions League (won 3-0 at home and lost 3-0 away to Rosenborg in the 1998-99 group stage).
Galatasaray have won their last two games against Norwegian opposition, beating Molde 5-3 on aggregate in the UEFA Champions League play-off qualification round in 2023-24 (3-2 away, 2-1 at home). However, in major European competition (excluding qualifiers), they have only won one of their four matches against Norwegian sides (D1 L2).
Bodø/Glimt have faced Turkish opposition on seven occasions in major European competition – after failing to win any of the first four between 1996 and 2004 (D1 L3), they have won each of the last three, all played since the start of the 2023-24 campaign and all versus Besiktas.
After beating Liverpool last time out, Galatasaray will be looking to record back-to-back wins in the UEFA Champions League for the first time since December 2012 (a run of three victories).
Both of Bodø/Glimt’s matches in the UEFA Champions League this season have ended in 2-2 draws. They could become just the second team to draw their first three matches in the competition (since 1992-93), after Villarreal in the 2005-06 campaign.
Galatasaray’s win over Liverpool came with having just 33.4 percent possession in the match; the lowest of any side to win during the first two matchdays of this UEFA Champions League campaign, as well as their lowest on record for a single victory in the competition (since 2003-04).
Victor Osimhen has scored in each of his last six appearances in major European competition (seven goals); the joint-longest run by a Galatasaray player, along with Burak Yilmaz, who netted in six in a row between Octobre 2012 and March 2013.
Håkon Evjen assisted both of Bodø/Glimt’s goals in their 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur last time out in the UEFA Champions League, becoming the first Norwegian to assist twice in a match in the competition since Valencia’s John Carew in October 2002 (two v Basel).
Galatasaray’s Lucas Torreira has won possession 12 times in the middle third of the pitch in the UEFA Champions League; the most of any player across the first two matchdays.
Bodø/Glimt’s Odin Bjørtuft made 16 passes breaking the opposition’s attacking line against Tottenham (first line of their defensive shape); the second most by a player in a game across the first two matchdays of this UEFA Champions League campaign, only behind Sven Botman versus Union Saint-Gilloise (17).
