Kieran Maguire was on BBC Radio 5 Live to speak about the proposed changes. He said: "It's one football association affectively saying to the senor authorities in the game can we make the game more appealing? We are always conscious there are alternatives to football. Can we make the game more dynamic? Can we make the game fairer going forward?

"One of the suggestions is we take a move like rugby and hockey where you have a clock for what is happening in play. That could potentially reduce time wasting. What they would do if these rules were introduced, you would always do it at a lower level, get the feedback to see what does and doesn't work."

The Dutch FA have proposed five new law changes to the game. Here is what they have set out:

• Kick ins instead of throw ins
• Time penalties (like sin bins in rugby)
• Self-pass (taking a free-kick to yourself)
• Flying substitutions
• Net playing time of 60 minutes

England are not the only home nation who have Euro 2025 qualifiers coming up with Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland also involved.

Wales face Ukraine tomorrow and on 4 June in back-to-back qualifiers. they then face Croatia and Kosovo in July.

Scotland have two games against Israel and then compete against Slovakia and Serbia in July.

Northern Ireland play Portugal back-to-back and then are up against Malta and Bosnia & Herzegovina.

Manchester United are weighing up a move for Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah, according to the Independent. , external

United are expecting a major shake-up in the centre-back department with Raphael Varane leaving when his contract runs out in the summer and Chalobah, a Chelsea academy graduate, is viewed as an ideal sale for the Blues to meet profit and sustainability rules by 30 June.

The report states a transfer fee of about £25m for the 24-year-old Englishman is being considered by United, who are monitoring players under the age of 25 as part of new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe's sweeping changes.

Chelsea striker Armando Broja has interest from multiple clubs in Europe, including French side Monaco.

The Albania striker, 22, is available for sale this summer and is ready to take the next step in his career.

This year Broja had an unsuccessful loan spell at Fulham, who paid a £4m penalty fee for not starting the former Vitesse and Southampton striker in 10 or more matches.

Fulham are not interested in making the loan spell permanent after a superb end to the season for Rodrigo Muniz but long-term admirers AC Milan and Wolves could join Monaco in the race for Broja's signature.

Monaco are seeking a replacement for outgoing striker Wissam Ben Yedder, with Red Bull Salzburg's Karim Konate and Ajax's Georges Mikautadze also on the club's list.

The Blues valued Broja at close to £50m in January but the fee could drop to between £25m and £30m. Chelsea could look to leverage any discounts by adding a substantial sell-on or a favourable buy-back clause to make any deal more worthwhile.

Norwich City

New Norwich City head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup said: "I'm excited, I hope that the supporters are excited as well. I hope that we can create something together, it's so important that they are proud of the team.

"I have my ideas and I have my principles in the way that we are going to play, but I am also here to listen to some of the good stuff that has already been done.

"I have to make sure that I am very clear that this is something that we do together and everyone has to have that feeling."

Norwich City

Championship side Norwich City have appointed FC Nordsjaelland manager Johannes Hoff Thorup as their new head coach on a three-year contract.

The 35-year-old Dane replaces David Wagner, who was sacked following the Canaries' 4-0 defeat by Leeds United in the Championship play-offs.

Norwich finished sixth in the table under Wagner and his replacement will prepare the Carrow Road club for a third successive season in England's second tier.

Thorup has been in charge of Danish top-flight side Nordsjaelland since January 2023, having been promoted from his role as assistant coach.

He guided Nordsjaelland to a second-place finish in 2022-23 to earn a spot in the qualifying rounds of the Europa Conference League, and in his first full season in charge this term, Thorup took the club to the group stage of the European competition and oversaw a fourth-place finish in the Danish Superliga.

Chelsea are believed exploring the market for goalkeepers as they work to finalise Enzo Maresca's appointment as manager.

The imminent arrival of the Italian, 44, from Leicester City has impacted Chelsea's transfer activity, as goalkeeping options are being assessed.

Blues officials are understood to have made contact with representatives of Villarreal goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen, 22, over a potential summer move.

Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic both had spells as Chelsea's no1 last season under Mauricio Pochettino, with Marcus Bettinelli acting as a good no3 option.

Kepa Arrizabalaga went on loan to Real Madrid last season but the Champions League finalists are unlikely to exercise an option to buy in his contract. He will likely be sold to another club this summer.

Gabriel Slonina, 20, had a successful loan spell in Belgium at Eupen and is seeking another temporary loan move away.

Maresca previously made Danish keeper Mads Hermansen his fourth summer signing, with a comfortable ball-playing option key to his possession-based style of play.

Chelsea have been looking at potential strikers and defenders, including centre-backs and left-backs, in recent months.
