The Hearts fans are fuming again as Kenneth Vargas is clearly fouled by Ben Davies but decides to play on.

    However, his cross is blocked.

    Davies stopped completely there.

    Hearts 0-0 Rangers

Up the other end, John Souttar heads the ball out of the grasp of Jack Butland then Cammy Devlin looks for a penalty after a challenge from Mohamed Diomande.

No chance. Kye Rowles is in the book seconds later as he catches Connor Barron with a high boot.

  3. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 13:42 British Summer Time 3 August

    Hearts 0-0 Rangers

    You don't get much closer.

Cyriel Dessers could have a hat-trick as his close-range header hits bar then post.

Sorry but he should score again.

  4. CLOSE!published at 13:39 British Summer Time 3 August

    Hearts 0-0 Rangers

    Rangers look more assured.

They get a corner which results in another.

The second delivery is outstanding from James Tavernier and Lawrence Shankland has to flick it just over.

The third is exactly the same but this time Shankland heads out for a throw.

Miles off target. His team-mates are not impressed.

Remember, these are the first minutes Oscar Cortes has played since February so this will be a worry.

Rabbi Matondo will replace the winger.

  10. 'Hearts must be mindful of Rangers threat'published at 13:26 British Summer Time 3 August

    HT: Hearts 0-0 Rangers

    Michael Stewart
Former Hearts midfielder on BBC Sportsound

Rangers have obviously got players that can go and hurt Hearts and that's what they've got to be mindful of in the second half.

The first goal is going to be massive for Hearts. If they get it themselves, the crowd is going to be so noisy and so energetic which feeds on to the park.

If they don't and they concede it just ebbs away very quickly.

  11. Taylor's half in numberspublished at 13:22 British Summer Time 3 August

    HT: Hearts 0-0 Rangers

Tom English has just been waxing lyrical about Hearts' star man Gerald Taylor.

Here are some numbers that stand out from an impressive first half:

    • Touches - 32
    • Pass accuracy - 90%
    • Tackles - four
    • Chances created - one
    • Duels won - five out of eight
  12. Hearts hard done by?published at 13:20 British Summer Time 3 August

    HT: Hearts 0-0 Rangers

    Tom English
BBC Scotland's chief sports writer on Sportsound

Hearts will be very frustrated they're not ahead in this game.

It's been a very entertaining half.

  13. HALF-TIME Hearts 0-0 Rangerspublished at 13:17 British Summer Time 3 August

The half ends with Gerald Taylor winning another duel with Oscar Cortes, who looks like he's in a bit of pain.

The rest of the players head down the tunnel after an enthralling first half.

  14. 'Either side, it's 1-0'published at 13:15 British Summer Time 3 August

    Hearts 0-0 Rangers

    Lee McCulloch
Former Rangers captain on BBC Sportsound

It's down the throat of Zander Clark, either side of him and Rangers could be 1-0 up.

Hearts need a goal when they're on top because that's what Rangers can do, they can get up the pitch and score right away.

The full stadium will be dead after that, the momentum that Hearts have created will be gone.

  15. Postpublished at 13:12 British Summer Time 3 August

    Hearts 0-0 Rangers

    Another Cyriel Dessers chance.

Again, the first touch is magic. The finish, not so much.

He throws his left leg at it and Zander Clark gets his body in the way.

    Forty minutes in already.

It's flown by. Goalless but gripping.

  17. Postpublished at 13:09 British Summer Time 3 August

    Hearts 0-0 Rangers

Sportsound pair Mikey Stewart and Lee McCulloch seem to be in love with Gerald Taylor (I'm getting there).

The right-back has a long throw in him as well. The star of the show so far.

  18. Postpublished at 13:08 British Summer Time 3 August

    Hearts 0-0 Rangers

Gerald Taylor, playing a bit inverted now, smashes one from range.

It rattles the heid of Ben Davies. Ouch.

  19. 'Not a yellow'published at 13:05 British Summer Time 3 August

    Hearts 0-0 Rangers

    Lee McCulloch
Former Rangers captain on BBC Sportsound

I don't think that's a yellow card at all. I think he's pulled out of the challenge.

  20. YELLOW CARDpublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 3 August

    Hearts 0-0 Rangers

First yella of the new season is for Cammy Devlin. No real surprise.

The Hearts man catches Scott Wright late.
