1. 'Arsenal are capable of it' - Laurens on Gunners' chances in Parispublished at 07:42 British Summer Time

    Arsenal 0-1 Paris St-Germain

    Julien Laurens
European football expert on BBC Radio 5 Live

This is part of your learning curve as a young team and as a young manager, which Mikel Arteta still is.

That doesn't mean that Arsenal can't go to Paris and qualify, but I probably think they will be better the next time they are in this position in the semi-final, whether that is next season or whenever, for what happened tonight and what will happen in Paris.

But, for example, PSG did that when going to Liverpool [turning around a first-leg deficit to beat them at Anfield and progress to the quarter-finals].

Of course they believed before, but not many other people believed, not even me, that they could go to Anfield and do that there.

So Arsenal can go to the Parc des Princes next week. They will have to put in their best performance of the season, there is no doubt. Everybody will have to be at their best - the coaching, the mentality, individually, collectively - they will have to put in their best performance, but I think they are capable of it.

PSG were superb, but it's far from over. Arsenal can and will be better in the return leg.

At 1-0 down, it's hardly tie over. Arsenal have the players to turn this around, plus not as though PSG are playing football from another planet. Come on Arsenal. From a Leeds fan.

Do you believe that early goal, coupled with Arsenal's inability to at least get back on level terms at Emirates Stadium, will prove terminal for their chances of making the Champions League final?

Click thumbs up if you believe Arsenal can get back into this tie, or thumbs down if you think PSG will finish the job in Paris.

In his news conference afterwards, Mikel Arteta said that in the early stages of the match there was something small and specific that wasn't right but very important and he said he corrected it.

He didn't elaborate on it but it looks as though that little difference there might end up costing them a place in the final in Munich because they have a real uphill challenge now.

Those quotes from Mikel Arteta on the changes he made to the team after 20 minutes are intriguing.

What do you think those changes were and do you believe they made a difference to Arsenal's performance?

There is no doubt that the Gunners finished the first half stronger than they started it.

Also, we would love your general reaction to Arsenal's display and what you believe they need to do to turn the tie around.

Paris St-Germain beat Premier League champions Liverpool and Aston Villa in the earlier knockout rounds and claimed a statement win at home to Manchester City in the league phase.

So their high-energy pressing and counter-pressing style will have come as no surprise to Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.

But the Gunners boss admitted to having to make an early change following PSG's storming start at Emirates Stadium, which he believes helped to put the home side on a more equal footing.

"I think the game had phases - the first 15 to 20 minutes especially, with them scoring so early and with great combination play, when the margins are so slim and the finishing is unbelievable," said Arteta.

"We had especially one issue that we corrected after 15, 20 minutes and we sustained that for the rest of the game, which I think it turned the game around."

Arsenal must come from behind to reach the Champions League final after Ousmane Dembele's early strike gave Paris St-Germain victory at Emirates Stadium.

Dembele stunned Arsenal when he swept home a low finish from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's delivery only four minutes into the semi-final first leg.

PSG dominated the early stages with a relentless attacking assault, which saw Arsenal keeper David Raya make a superb save from teenager Desire Doue.

The hosts survived without further damage to work their way into contention, and once again giant Italian keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, as he was against Liverpool and Aston Villa earlier in the competition, was PSG's hero.

He saved brilliantly from Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard either side of the break, while Arsenal saw Mikel Merino's header from a Declan Rice free-kick ruled out for offside.

PSG had chances to extend their advantage late on, but substitute Bradley Barcola shot wide and Goncalo Ramos hit the bar.

  9. Arsenal lose first leg at home to PSG - reaction & analysispublished at 07:07 British Summer Time

    Arsenal 0-1 Paris St-Germain

Arsenal endured a difficult night in a 1-0 first-leg defeat at home to Paris St-Germain in the Champions League semi-finals.

The French champions enjoyed the perfect start, when 33-goal leading scorer Ousmane Dembele put them ahead in only the fourth minute.

Conceding an early goal undoubtedly put the Gunners on the back foot and they were unable to produce the first-leg heroics that helped lay the platform for their quarter-final victory over defending champions Real Madrid.

But Mikel Arteta remained defiant that this tie is not over - it is merely "half-time".

Stay with us for full reaction to Arsenal's defeat as we analyse how they could turn around the tie in the second leg in Paris.

  10. 'We are going to have to do something special in Paris'published at 06:57 British Summer Time

    Arsenal 0-1 Paris St-Germain

"We are half-time and my message is exactly the same as [when we beat] Real Madrid at home 3-0 - we have to go to Paris and win the game," said Mikel Arteta, after watching his Arsenal side lose 1-0 at home to Paris St-Germain in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final.

"We are more than capable of doing that because I saw two very good teams where the margins are so small.

"They had efficiency in front of the goal and their keeper as well made a difference to see the result we have seen tonight.

"You want to be in the Champions League final, you have to do something special, and we are going to have to do something special in Paris to be there."
