    Phew. What a night.

We've seen, let's be honest, the Champions elect of League One, Birmingham, demolish Cambridge United, whose bleak night was made worse by Shrewsbury picking up a point at Reading and Crawley thumping Stevenage.

Their only solace is that local rivals Peterborough remain deep in trouble after being stung by a late winner by Charlton, who go into the top-five ahead of their clash with Birmingham on Saturday - looking to complete the double over the Blues, believe it or not.

In League Two, leaders Walsall can feel the hot breath of Bradford and AFC Wimbledon down their neck after the Saddlers' wobble continued with a home draw against Gillingham while Mark Hughes' Carlisle remain in the EFL basement after defeat at Newport.

We'll be back here tomorrow night for a host of mouth-watering Championship games including Sheffield United v Middlesbrough and West Brom v Blackburn.

Until then, thanks for your company this evening, goodnight!

Job done for the League One leaders, who go seven points clear of second-placed Wycombe.

Before the game I wondered if this might be a potential banana skin for Blues off the back of their FA Cup tie against Newcastle - but not a bit of it.

More like a delicious banana split with extra cream and chocolate sauce.

Birmingham cruised through this game as 22 shots to two suggests.

No surprise that the players received a standing ovation at the final whistle, even if St Andrew's was only two-thirds full by that stage with the game long won.

    League One top

The League One table makes for pretty reading for Birmingham City tonight after their resounding 4-0 win over Cambridge.

Blues are now seven points clear at the top with a game in hand over both Wycombe and Wrexham in second and third.

Stockport missed the chance to go third as they conceded a late equaliser at Bristol Rovers.

Charlton's fifth win in six games sees them climb to fifth, while Leyton Orient are now just two points off the top six after brushing aside Mansfield.

That play-off race is hotting up.

    League One bottom

Shrewsbury's valuable point at Reading tonight sees them move up to 21st and now just three points from safety after Peterborough lost at Charlton.

Crawley also boosted their survival hopes with an impressive 3-1 win over Stevenage.

Cambridge remain rooted to the foot of the table as they were thrashed by leaders Birmingham, while Mansfield's sixth straight defeat sees them slip into the bottom 10.

  5. Everyone closing in on Walsallpublished at 22:07 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February

    League Two top

Boy, things are tightening at the top of the League Two table.

Walsall's slump extended to a fifth match without a win, which means Notts County, with a game in hand, and Bradford City are breathing down their neck - the pair are only six points behind the Saddlers.

For Bradford, their 1-0 win over Accrington was an eighth home victory in a row, a best run for 71 years.

AFC Wimbledon are just a further point behind with Doncaster, as they downed Crewe - who are now five without a win.

  6. Another bad day for Carlislepublished at 22:04 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February

    League Two bottom

Things are starting to look very terminal for Carlisle, despite Mark Hughes' arrival last week.

Two defeats under the Welshman have them six points adrift of safety, with Tranmere's draw giving them a little bit of extra daylight.

Barrow were the only winners from the bottom 10 this evening, having beaten MK Dons - who are on the slide down the table.

Crawley have picked up a huge three points in the relegation battle, beating Stevenage 3-1 at Broadfield Stadium.

Stockport missed the chance to close the gap on the automatic promotion spots, conceding a late equaliser to draw 1-1 at Bristol Rovers.

Leyton Orient continued their play-off charge by sweeping aside Mansfield with a comfortable 3-0 win thanks to three first-half goals, while Blackpool and Rotherham ended goalless.

The big winners in League Two tonight have been Notts County - who didn't kick a ball - they are six points behind Walsall at the top with a game in hand.

They are closely followed in the happiness, and points, stakes by Bradford and AFC Wimbledon, whose wins over Accrington and Crewe respectively, put them third and fourth.

Newport County made it four wins in a row to down bottom-placed Carlisle, while Barrow came from behind to pile the pressure onto MK Dons boss Scott Lindsey.

Tranmere had the better of Fleetwood but couldn't find the net. A point takes them four points above the relegation zone.

  9. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:52 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February

    Reading 1-1 Shrewsbury

It ends all square and it's probably a fair result in the end.

A big point for Shrewsbury who edge closer to safety and will surely believe their great escape is well and truly on.

Seven points from three games now for Salop.

As for Reading, it's another two points dropped in the race to make the play-offs and now just one win in seven for the Royals (D3 L3).

  10. Postpublished at 21:49 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February

    Reading 1-1 Shrewsbury

Only Wrexham (12) have won more home games in League One this season than Reading (10) before tonight but this one might be about to get away from them.

    Halfway through stoppage time now...

  11. INJURY TIMEpublished at 21:48 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February

Four minutes added on at the end of this one.

  12. Postpublished at 21:47 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February

    Reading 1-1 Shrewsbury

It's all a bit scrappy in the closing stages... Time is running out for either to find a winner. One moment of magic, maybe?

  13. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:45 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February

    Reading 1-1 Shrewsbury

Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan's last involvement for Reading is the penalty shout... he's replaced by Abraham Kanu.

  14. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 21:44 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February

    Reading 1-1 Shrewsbury

Reading are convinced they should have a penalty...

Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan skips past Shrewsbury keeper Jamal Blackman and claims he was brought down.

But the ref and the assistant who had a clear view of the incident wave away the protest from the Royals players.

Hard to tell if there was indeed any contact...

  15. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:43 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February

    Charlton 2-1 Peterborough

Macauley Gillesphey's last-gasp header wins it for the Addicks, who are up to fifth.

They made rather hard work of it, needing a Matt Godden penalty to go ahead and then conceding an equaliser, to a Malik Mothersille penalty, after Emmanuel Fernandez had been sent-off on 58 minutes.

Posh remain deep in trouble at the foot of the table and have now taken just one point from 11 away games in League One.

  16. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:42 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February

    Reading 1-1 Shrewsbury

Off goes John Marquis for Shrewsbury, who will do well to sleep tonight after the missed penalty in the first half.

On comes Callum Stewart for the last five minutes plus stoppages.

  17. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:41 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February

    Birmingham 4-0 Cambridge Utd

    Quite simply a mis-match.

On this showing, especially the first half, Birmingham are closer in stature to Newcastle, who they faced on Saturday, than they are to Cambridge United, who occupy the same division... for now.

Jay Stansfield scored a first-half penalty but saw a near-identical one saved after the break, Liam Bennett scored an unfortunate own-goal, Kieran Dowell stroked home a glorious third and Luke Harris applied some gloss with a classy fourth.

  18. 'A strange game'published at 21:40 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February

    FT: Walsall 1-1 Gillingham

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM commentator

    A strange game for sure.

Just at the point it looked like Walsall were cruising for a win, an equalizer for Gillingham changed everything.

It was tight towards the end but a point is certainly better than nothing for Walsall.

  19. Postpublished at 21:40 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February

    Charlton 2-1 Peterborough

Six additional minutes for Charlton to see-out.

The home fans are singing Nathan Jones' name.

If they see this out it will be a first win in 14 matches for the Addicks against Peterborough. They're going to party like it's November 2012.

  20. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:39 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February

    Walsall 1-1 Gillingham

Five matches without a win now for Walsall.

Wins for Bradford and AFC Wimbledon mean things are tightening at the top of the table.

The Gills' wait for a win will go through two months before they face Crewe at the weekend. 10 matches without a win has them in 19th and looking nervously over their shoulders.
