Agree with Marc regarding Palace. We need to get new signings over the line quickly. We can't afford to lose key players at the end of the transfer window (e.g. Guehi, Eze, Mateta, Wharton) with no ready-made replacements. It's happened before where teams get into Europe for the first time and then struggle the next season due to selling key players and lack of squad depth to compete on both fronts.

Chelsea are exploring the option of signing two attackers this summer amid ongoing talks with Borussia Dortmund for winger Jamie Gittens.

Dortmund continue to hold out for 70m euros (£60m) and Chelsea are not in a rush to complete the deal given Gittens is cup-tied for the knockout stages of the Club World Cup.

Alternatives for the 20-year-old include Lyon's Malick Fofana, who has been sounded out for the position vacated by Jadon Sancho after he returned to Manchester United following his season-long loan for a £5m penalty fee.

Signing a versatile forward is seen as a lesser priority but would be done in conjunction with any potential sale of Christopher Nkunku, with Brighton's Joao Pedro and Eintracht Frankfurt's Hugo Ekitike among options considered.

The Blues are not currently interested in Randal Kolo Muani despite recent links.

  3. What's happening with Tete to Everton?published at 15:32 British Summer Time

    Everton

Another player Everton are reportedly interested in is Fulham's 29-year-old defender Kenny Tete.

"I think the situation is that Everton probably thought they had a deal in place with Tete but Fulham are not quite letting go because he is very high value there," BBC Sport chief football writer Phil McNulty told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"I spoke to somebody around Fulham who said he'd be a real miss if he left, a very good right-back, very experienced and gives them something in terms of that experience and quality and it sounds like they might just make one last offer to try and keep him. Whether that diverts him away from Everton, we don't know," McNulty said.

"It certainly does reveal that Everton will be looking at the right-back slot with Ashley Young going and Seamus Coleman's future still uncertain. Nathan Patterson has been in and out and of course, Jake O'Brien was outstanding last season but ostensibly he is a central defender so it will be interesting to see what happens.

"I did think they had a deal lined up for Tete but as we know for all these things, Everton won't be taking anything for granted and nothing is done until he signs.

"Fulham will be clinging on a bit and won't be letting him go without a fight."

  4. What could Barry bring to Everton?published at 15:29 British Summer Time

Everton are yet to make a signing this summer but they have reportedly entered negotiations with Villarreal to sign France Under-21 striker Thierno Barry.

A Premier League move at the age of 22 would cement Barry's rapid rise in European football in recent seasons. Only three years ago, he completed his first season of senior football in France's fifth tier before moving to Belgian second-tier side Beveren in July 2022.

Twenty goals in 28 starts were enough to earn a move to Swiss Super League side Basel a year later and he subsequently finished as the club's top scorer on 12 goals in his first campaign of top-flight football.

A flurry of eight goals in the first four matches of 2024-25 convinced Villarreal to pay €15m (£12.7m) for his services in August. The 6ft 5in striker was an instant success, scoring 11 goals to help the Yellow Submarine finish fifth with their highest points tally in 17 years and qualify for the Champions League.

Barry was in an elite group of players aged under 23 to score 10 or more goals in Europe's top five leagues this season, sitting alongside the likes of Leipzig's in-demand Benjamin Sesko, PSG's Bradley Barcola and Eintracht Frankfurt's Hugo Ekitike.

    Barry statsImage source, BBC Sport

Barry's height makes him a huge threat in the air and he ranked second of all forwards in Europe's major leagues (and top of anyone in La Liga) for aerial duel success in 2024-25, winning 66.7% of his 153 challenges (minimum 100 aerial duels)

It is a facet of Barry's game that has undoubtedly attracted Everton boss David Moyes, whose sides typically get lots of crosses into the box. The Toffees ranked seventh for open-play crosses in this season's Premier League, although they struggled to convert crosses into goals, scoring just three times from such situations – the fewest of any club other than Chelsea (2).

As a Sunderland fan I think it’s reasonable to say that all of us have huge faith in the current owners and management. For the first time in a very long time there is a belief that we can stay up. Signings will follow we must trust the club to deliver.

  6. What do Aston Villa need to do before the end of June?published at 15:24 British Summer Time

Aston Villa are one of only two Premier League clubs, along with Fulham, not to have signed or sold a first-team player so far this summer.

Villa are widely considered to be the top-flight side most at risk of breaching the Premier League's profitability and sustainability rules (PSR).

Clubs are only allowed a combined loss of more than £105m over three seasons, and Villa reported losses of £85.4m for 2023-24 and £119.6m for 2022-23. Their current financial year ends on 30 June.

The combination of PSR concerns and missing out on Champions League qualification means Villa will need to be shrewd in the transfer market.

It remains to be seen whether they need to make a big-money sale over the coming days or if the club has found another way of staying within the PSR limits - they are reportedly considering selling their women's team, a ploy used by Chelsea in April.

Regardless, Villa's squad may need significant reshaping this summer.

A right winger and right-back are believed to be priority signings, while the squad is light in central defence and up front. Ollie Watkins could be available for the right price, loanees Marcus Rashford, Marco Asensio and Axel Disasi have returned to their parent clubs and Leon Bailey and Emi Martinez are both expected to leave.

  7. More squad depth needed at Newcastlepublished at 15:19 British Summer Time

Despite the enormous resources of their Saudi owners, Newcastle’s ambitions have been hamstrung by Profit and Sustainability Regulations.

Their only signing so far this summer has been 18-year-old winger Antonio Cordero, who has joined on a free after spending last season in the Spanish second tier with Malaga.

Qualification for the Champions League means there is a little more wriggle room in the Magpies finances, which is just as well since new blood is needed to cope with the increased workload.

Last season Newcastle used just 24 players in the Premier League, the joint second lowest total in the top flight. When they last competed in Europe, in 2023-24, injuries and fatigue eventually caught up with them and a run of six defeats in seven league games over the winter torpedoed their season.

Newcastle United statsImage source, BBC Sport

With Sven Botman only able to start 21 top-flight matches in the past two years, a new centre-back may be amongst the priorities. A move for Marc Guehi was rebuffed by Crystal Palace last summer but he is entering the final 12 months of his contract so could be available for a sensible price.

If they are beaten to the punch by Liverpool, Atalanta’s 21-year-old Giorgio Scalvini has been mooted as an alternative. The 6ft 4in tall Italy international is highly rated but has barely played in the last year because of knee and shoulder injuries, so would represent a calculated gamble.

Jacob Murphy enjoyed an outstanding campaign in 2024-25, with his tally of 12 Premier League assists bettered by only Mohamed Salah, but an additional option is required on the right wing. Eddie Howe is a long-time admirer of Anthony Elanga but Nottingham Forest have rejected an offer for the pacey Swede.

Newcastle have also been linked with a move for Brighton forward Joao Pedro, whose versatility would enable him to cover for star striker Alexander Isak or slot into slightly deeper attacking roles. Meanwhile, Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford is also reportedly a target following a stunning Championship campaign in which he kept 29 clean sheets. However, any deal for the 22-year-old may be dependent on also finding a buyer for Nick Pope.

  8. West Ham overhaul off to a slow startpublished at 15:16 British Summer Time

A transitional summer for West Ham has been more notable to date for the players who have left.

Stalwarts Lukasz Fabianski, Aaron Cresswell and Vladimir Coufal have all been released, with Michail Antonio looking likely to join them when his contract expires on Monday. With 1,088 West Ham appearances between them, they leave a sizeable void to fill.

Danny Ings and Kurt Zouma have also departed as West Ham seek to overhaul an ageing squad. The average age of their Premier League starting XI last season was 28.8 years old, the joint oldest in the division along with Everton.

West Ham’s solitary signing during the off-season has been French central defender Jean-Clair Todibo, who made 20 Premier League starts on loan from Nice in 2024-25 as the Hammers finished 14th.

The priority for head coach Graham Potter will surely be a striker, regardless of whether or not Antonio stays. Niclas Fullkrug only made six league starts and scored three goals last season, while

Evan Ferguson’s loan spell from Brighton & Hove Albion didn’t work out.

The extent of West Ham’s rebuild will also be shaped by the futures of two of their most valuable players, Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus. Paqueta is awaiting the verdict of his recent spot-fixing trial and faces a possible lifetime ban if found guilty, while selling Kudus could be the club’s most effective way of raising funds to reshape the squad.

Among Premier League clubs yet to make a major signing this summer are Arsenal, Tottenham, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Everton, West Ham and Sunderland.

  12. 'In Moyes we have the perfect manager to lead us into a new era'published at 15:00 British Summer Time

    Everton

Seamus Coleman told the Everton website: "I love Everton so to continue playing for this special club means everything to me and my family.

"Like every one of our passionate fans, I’ve lived and breathed what has been a difficult past few years for the club and have put my heart and soul into doing all I can to help us get through it.

"Thanks to the hard work of many people, we’ve been able to get into our magnificent new stadium and pave the way for a brighter future under ambitious new owners, which I want to be part of."

David Moyes signed Coleman during his first spell as Everton boss in January 2009, with the Toffees paying £60,000 to sign him from Sligo Rovers.

Injuries restricted Coleman to six appearances last season, during which Moyes returned as boss in January.

"In David Moyes, we have the perfect manager to lead us into a new era," Coleman added.

"It's well known we will have a lot of new faces in this summer and I hope I can help them settle in as quickly as possible. And after a disappointing time with injuries last season, my focus will be on working hard, spending as much time on the pitch as possible, and helping Everton any way I can."

Seamus Coleman is joint-12th on the all-time list for most Everton appearances with 428 - five behind Dixie Dean and Coleman's former team-mate Leon Osman.

"Seamus is more than just a player at Everton," said manager David Moyes. "He offers so many different qualities.

“His leadership, his professionalism and his humanity are second to none. He's helped carry the club through some difficult periods in the past few years and his influence in the dressing room has been key to that.

"He's had to deal with some really difficult injuries, too, but he has done that and still been able to help inspire inside the dressing room at the same time.

"This could be a period of real change at the club and I want somebody who can help deliver the messages of what it means to be an Everton footballer. Seamus has always done that and I know he will continue to do so as we move into a new era."

  17. How will Forest and Nuno juggle busy schedule?published at 14:39 British Summer Time

    Noel Sliney
    BBC Sport

Nottingham Forest were finally granted planning permission last night to redevelop the City Ground, while upgrades to the first-team squad this summer are also progressing.

Forest are about to embark on their first European campaign for 30 seasons and a squad with greater strength in depth is needed to juggle a crowded fixture list. No confirmed signings have yet been made but it has been widely reported the club has reached a verbal agreement to buy Botafogo trio Igor Jesus, Cuiabano and Jair Cunha.

Forward Igor Jesus has gone from helping his grandfather clean fish to sell at a local market to scaling the heights as a full Brazil international via a four-year stint playing in the United Arab Emirates. The 24-year-old, who describes himself as “good in the air and from close to goal”, has scored two winning goals at the current Club World Cup.

Jair Cunha is a 20-year-old central defender who has also started all three of Botafogo’s group games in the USA, while 22-year-old left-back Cuiabano was previously linked with Brighton & Hove Albion.

Juventus wingers Samuel Mbangula and Timothy Weah are both reported targets for Forest and were left out of their side’s squad for last night’s Club World Cup defeat by Manchester City. Weah, though, is believed to have rejected a move, while Forest have turned down a bid from Newcastle this week for Anthony Elanga.

Forest’s shopping list likely includes an experienced back-up goalkeeper, although Matt Turner’s proposed move to Lyon may be in doubt following the French club’s relegation this week because of financial problems. The only confirmed deal involving Nottingham Forest so far this season has been Andrew Omobamidele’s permanent switch to Strasbourg following a short loan spell.

However, with head coach Nuno Espirito Santo recently signing a new three-year contract, the club is in stable hands.

Fulham are one of two Premier League clubs yet to sign or sell a senior player this summer, along with Aston Villa, but it appears the London side are attempting to remedy last season’s lack of attacking incision.

They are pursuing a deal for 23-year-old Brazilian forward Romulo, who provided 17 goals and 10 assists in 33 matches last season for Turkish club Goztepe. Six of those goals were penalties but his tally still compares favourably with Fulham top scorer Raul Jimenez, who scored 14 times – including five penalties – in 43 games.

Overall, Fulham’s shooting accuracy was the third worst in the Premier League in 2024-25.

They made an unrivalled 894 crosses in last season’s Premier League, leading to 22% of their goals, but creative midfielders Andreas Pereira, whose Fulham future is in doubt, and Emile Smith Rowe often struggled to break down defences. Pereira created 20 chances from open play, four fewer than Smith Rowe – with both men lagging well behind team-mate Alex Iwobi’s impressive figure of 58.

Two attacking options, Willian and Carlos Vinicius, have left the club on free transfers, while Tom Cairney and Kenny Tete are both out of contract in a few days and are yet to accept the offer of new deals. Wrexham and Everton respectively are circling.

We have asked all day about what your feeling is about your club's transfer dealings so far this summer.

So let's take a look at what is going at those two clubs...
