Summary

  1. 'We can damage City'published at 14:48 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February

Bournemouth v Man City (Sat, 17:30 GMT)

    Bournemouth

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola on confidence in his side before they face Manchester City: “We are in a good moment. The Newcastle game was one of the best games we’ve played this season, not even just in the last month.

“I finished really happy with the game, even after reviewing it, we were very good against a very good team. It’s true that we are probably not as good in the boxes as we’ve been in the previous run, but I think overall, the team is doing good things and I think we can also be good tomorrow.

“It’s obviously one of the most difficult games you can play, they are a team with more possession and you have to be ready mentally to be a lot of time without the ball and defensive. You go to the press and the next one again, get beaten, then the next one again with the same intensity and mentally be ready to wait for your moment; to wait for your chance. I think we can damage them but it’s obviously a very difficult game in a lot of areas.”

  2. 'We must be doing something right'published at 14:42 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February

West Ham v Brentford (Mon, 20:00 GMT)

    West Ham United

David Moyes on Monday's opponents Brentford, who are 14th in the Premier League table, 11 points behind ninth-placed West Ham: "They’ve always been a really tough opponent. Thomas Frank has done a really good job, but we’re quite a few points above them so we must be doing something right.”

On Brentford striker Ivan Toney: "The games I’ve seen Toney play, he’s played really well. He’s a big player for them, I’ve been impressed by his performances, by his football intellect. He’s missed a lot of football but he’s come back in great condition."

West Ham United manager David Moyes also gave news on his future at the club, after confirming he had been offered a new contract: "I've had really good conversations with the owners, with David Sullivan and Karren Brady.

"There's a contract there for me and I'm the one deciding I want to wait until the end of the season."

The Hammers' current eight-match winless run has seen Moyes come under pressure from some supporters.

A "Moyes Out" banner could be seen in the away end last weekend as West Ham fell to a 2-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest, which followed a 6-0 home loss to Arsenal a week earlier.

West Ham United manager David Moyes on having nine days off between matches, following their 2-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest on 17 February: "We have all enjoyed the chance to get a break and now we are back and training well.

"It has been a good period and we hope the players are now fresh and ready for the next game.

"We have missed some really senior players and there is no question that the Africa Cup of Nations has not helped us.

"We have also picked up injuries to some important players, but if you look at how many changes we had to make in January to where we are now, it is good."

"But Lucas Paqueta is back in training and very close to returning, so that will give us a boost.

"He’s in contention [for Monday] and we’ll have to see where he is."

On loan signing Kalvin Phillips' reaction to red card against Nottingham Forest: "Kalvin is doing really well in training. I thought the sending off at Nottingham Forest was really close to being harsh."

  6. 'It is a tough game' - Moyes on Europa League drawpublished at 14:25 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February

West Ham v Brentford (Mon, 20:00 GMT)

    West Ham United

West Ham United manager David Moyes started his news conference by reacting to their draw against Freiburg in the last 16 of the Europa League - a team they beat twice in the group stages: "I don’t think it makes it any easier. The group was very tight, the games were close, I don’t see a huge difference.

"There are some huge teams in the competition – top of the English league, top of the German league – so you want to avoid them, but it is a tough game.”

He added: "The manager has done a great job at Freiburg, he’s had a great length of time at one club. We’re looking forward to going back and playing them again.

"I thought they were the toughest team in the group and we’ve got to try to go back there and win for a second time."

On using the experience of last season's Europa Conference League success: "We’ve always known that we’ve got European football after Christmas. It’s the third year in a row we’ve had it. We’ve had a brilliant three years in Europe and we want this one to be good as well."

  8. 'We can deal with pressure - we love it'published at 14:19 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February

Man Utd v Fulham (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

    Manchester United

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag was asked if he is concerned by the impact of injuries on the squad: "Of course that is an issue but other clubs have this and we have to deal with this. I feel we can deal with it better."

Ten Hag added: "All the players will have the opportunity to show their qualities. We have the confidence that they can. This is why we constructed this squad. We see players that are progressing that didn't have a chance in the first half of season or were injured. Now they have the opportunity to fit into the team, but they have to prove it.

On how his players' experience will be key in the season run-in: "By the end the points will be more expensive. Everyone will be fighting [for position] in the league table. We are used to it and have the experience with many players across the team who can deal with pressure situations. We love it, actually, and are looking forward."

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

Manchester United coach Eric Ramsay has been at the centre of stories suggesting he is set for an immediate Old Trafford exit to take charge at MLS outfit Minnesota United.

Although there is evidently an option there for Ramsay, I have been told he will be in the dug-out for tomorrow's game Premier League game against Fulham and could still be there for the trip to Manchester City on 3 March.

Man Utd v Fulham (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

    Manchester United

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag on whether he or his players feel increased pressure following changes at the club: "No more pressure because we have the same ambition and targets. I see the process, I see this team is developing and progressing.

"We have the right age group across the squad now and can make it even stronger. They will grow."

On whether qualifying for next season's Champions League is essential: "We know the reasons behind why we are not in the position and still have to catch up.

"In this moment every game is a final because have to be in the Champions League. The players want this. We believe, but we have to achieve it. I have the feeling we can deal with it better, but it is an issue when the depth of the squad is what it is.

"Last season we were third in the league and had two finals. You see in the last few games what this team is capable of. In particular, the potential in this team is very good."

Bournemouth v Man City (Sat, 17:30 GMT)

    Manchester City

More from Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola on whether jostling with Manchester United would be good for him: "What I want is Manchester City, my team, to be there. The rest I don't care. We want to be there. Only under Jose Mourinho were they second. I would say they have not be close like Liverpool in many years. But always I expected, when I arrived from day one, always, I expected Manchester United being there. Because of their story, tradition and many things.

"That didn't happen. I don't know the reason why. They know it, I guess. Maybe. It's their business, not our business. What we want is to be there for ourselves."

On whether it's flattering to hear Sir Jim Ratcliffe's words: "It's the truth. They will be closer to us. If they want to deny it because of things which are not their reality that's their problem. Not our problems. Always when we have been below teams I have admired them and 'what do you have to do to be close and challenge them?'. This is the real competitive people they want to be. when they want to judge on things they feel comfortable on one day they will not arrive at where we are today.

"When we were below and United were winning we were watching and admiring them. We learn from them. In the days of Sir Alex Ferguson and the generation from Roy Keane, David Beckham, Rio Ferdinand and Gary Neville. All the big players were there. I am pretty sure then City admired them and wanted to be there. Now we are there. So that's why I had the feeling they would be back."

"I had the feeling they know exactly what they have to do, appointing people they need. With his experience in the business world it can make the project better. But that is normal. All the teams want it [to be at the top] and we want to be there. As long as I am here we will try to be there again."

We are in that project.

"For me I am 19 months in. I see we go in the right direction. I can see a team coming, progressing and developing. We work hard on the training pitch and during games.

"It's very important to have players fit, sure. We will be even stronger when we add to this squad even more qualities."

Do you feel Sir Jim Ratcliffe has confidence in you?: "Absolutely, we have so many talks, we are very aligned, we have the same ambition and are very aligned in the process."

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola on whether Kevin de Bruyne will be fit to face Bournemouth: "He is good. Not injured. I don't know if he is 100% but we took a good decision [against Brentford]. We didn't take a risk. Apart from the result, if the result was not good, people would ask why he didn’t play. He didn’t feel comfortable.

“We have training at 16:00 (GMT). The day after the game he didn’t train and yesterday everyone was off, but he trained by himself. Today we will assess. I am sure he will travel.”

    Chelsea

Maurico Pochettino on Chelsea losing their last five finals at Wembley: "A final starts and finishes but that's it. You store it on the bus. Never has reference to this final will translate to his final. It's history. Of course people pay attention. But us, when we are preparing are not thinking what happened one year ago, two years ago and three years ago.

On no baggage from previous defeats in current squad: "Yes. It's possiblyy a good thing to not be affected by the past and in another way, they need experience to play finals. Always it's about the capacity to manage the game, but the preparation and the time you arrive."

Sympathy for Liverpool's injury situation: "Yes. I understand always. I never like to see your opponent, or teams, suffer with injured players and of course we empathise. I think we understand because we were dealing from the beginning.

"It's difficult, I understand. Always in the middle when the dynamic is positive. If you suffer some injuries, always you can manage because the dynamic is positive and you can find solution that can work easy. But when it's from the beginning, it's always to try to chase the rabbit. I understand, the circumstance are maybe not easy today for the opponent, but competition is the competition. We cannot blame or complain. the players are going to compete. Liverpool is going to be Liverpool."

The sporting director gives me big confidence that we can reach our vision."

On backing from the fans after recent protests: "When you have bad times you need support in those times. I am sure fans will support the team immediately in this next game. I really am convinced that they will be supporting us until the end of the season."

Any good news on the injuries to Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze?: "Not for tomorrow, we will be same squad than was at Everton - nobody coming back but nobody [more] out either.

"Eze had with us the last two training session and looked good. When he is ready he will be with us in the squad. So it is good news that Eze trained with us."

Crystal Palace v Burnley (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

    Crystal Palace

Oliver Glasner has been speaking for the first time as Crystal Palace manager before Saturday's key clash at home to Burnley.

He started by saying "I'm no magician, I am not David Copperfield" but spoke positively about the challenge ahead.

"The players are listening and are great characters," said Glasner. "We have had more meetings than training sessions on the pitch, but the important thing is the game tomorrow and to get the three points at Selhurst Park."

On his plans for the future: "The short-term goal is to get ourselves - myself and my staff - known. It is important what we want to do in terms of playing football - how we can improve and finish the season with as many points as possible. We can see what can happen in the future but I am a guy who lives in the present, working with this squad and preparing them to play games."
