Sheffield Wednesday survived a scare as they came from a goal down to win 5-1 at Grimsby Town in the second round of the Carabao Cup.
Cameron McJannet gave the League Two side an early lead as he glanced home Charles Vernam's corner, and they were almost further when Kieran Green headed against the bar.
The Championship side levelled soon after the break through Ike Ugbo's low shot before he set up substitute Jamal Lowe to give the Owls the lead a minute later.
Callum Paterson secured the win with Wednesday's third before he headed in the fourth goal with eight minutes to go.
Pol Valentin finished off the job in stoppage time with his side's fifth goal as Wednesday made the third round of the EFL Cup for the fourth time in six years - a stage they have not progressed past since they made the quarter-finals during the 2015-16 season.
Wednesday boss Danny Rohl changed his entire starting 11 from the side that lost to Leeds United on Friday night and it showed in the first period.
Having seen Vernam fire a 14th-minute shot wide, the Grimsby midfielder's corner was headed home by McJannet three minutes later.
Wednesday felt Ugbo should have had a penalty after 28 minutes but the referee waved away his claims, and the score was almost 2-0 to Grimsby when Green hit the bar 12 minutes later.
Rohl brought on Lowe and Valentin at half time and the pair made an impact - first Valentin's driving run set up Ugbo to finish nicely before Lowe's deflected effort looped in after Ugbo had set him up.
Wednesday's class continued to show as Marvin Johnson squared for Paterson to score his first goal since Wednesday's 5-1 League One play-off semi-final second leg win over Peterborough United in May 2023.
Seven minutes later Paterson got his second when he headed home Olaf Kobacki's perfect cross. Barry Bannan's pass then found Valentin on the right side of the penalty area and his low effort nestled the opposite bottom corner.
