Katja Snoeijs scores for Everton, who finish the season in eighth place

Bristol City’s miserable Women’s Super League campaign ended with home defeat by Everton.

The already-relegated Robins finish the season with only six points, the lowest from a side in a 22-game WSL season, and nine successive defeats.

Everton took the lead with a superb turn and finish from Katja Snoeijs after Sara Holmgaard picked her out.

Snoeijs turned provider for the Toffees' second after 23 minutes as she pulled it back for Holmgaard to side-foot into the far corner.

Early in the second half, Emma Bissell scored against her former club, volleying in from Katrine Veje's cross and Martina Piemonte added a fourth in injury-time, sweeping into the bottom corner from Eleanor Dale's cut-back.

The result saw Everton finish the WSL season in eighth place.

A tough end to a miserable campaign for the Robins

Bristol City had been relegated from the WSL in 2020-21, when they only collected two wins and 12 points, before returning to the top flight by winning the Championship in 2022-23.

But it has been a miserable campaign for the Robins this season as they have only gained one league victory, along with three draws and 18 losses from their 22 matches.

They last avoided defeat on 3 February with a 2-2 draw at Aston Villa, but this was another heavy loss in a run that has also included 5-2, 7-3, 5-0 and 8-0 thrashings by Leicester, Brighton, Arsenal and Chelsea respectively.

Lauren Smith's side end the season having conceded 70 goals and only scoring 20 for a goal difference of minus 50.

Everton, meanwhile, come eighth in the table after finishing sixth in 2022-23.
