Stockport became the first side to win away to Huddersfield this season in League One as they claimed a 2-1 victory at Accu Stadium with 10 men.
Both sides had their moments in the first half, but the stalemate remained until the dying seconds of the half, when Joe Low pulled Brad Hills' shirt inside the box.
Former Terrier Oliver Norwood stepped up to take the resultant penalty and send Lee Nicholls the wrong way.
Stockport were reduced to 10 men soon after the restart, with Tyler Onyango earning two yellow cards in five minutes.
But even with that advantage, Huddersfield failed to give Stockport anything substantial to worry about, and if anything the visitors looked more likely to score on the counter-attack.
That is exactly what happened after Jack Diamond got the better of two challenges and then sent away Odin Bailey to charge into the box and fire into the top corner.
Bojan Radulovic headed home a corner in added time to set up a tense finale, but it proved a mere consolation for Huddersfield.
