Chris: I was loving the Onana stuff but then I just thought he is just a guy with 40,000 people booing him and the pressure of being at United in Europe in this awful time. They’re just human. As much as it amused me, I did feel sorry for him a bit. Money and career is great but people are still deserving of some compassion.

  3. 'That was a proper Rangers performance'published at 23:06 British Summer Time 10 April

    FT: Rangers 0-0 Athletic Bilbao

    Rangers

Rangers interim manager Barry Ferguson, speaking TNT Sports: "That was a proper Rangers performance, especially going down to 10 men. You wonder how we're going to react but that's the reaction I wanted. That's what I spoke about on Monday and the players showed heart, grit and determination."

On Robin Propper's red card: "It was a bit chaotic. I can see why the referee's given a red card and then you need to shuffle the pack. We had to drop deep with two banks of four. Some people had to put a real shift in. There was a real togetherness and I need to see that every single day."

On Liam Kelly's penalty save: "Jack [Butland] was great at saving penalties when he was in goal. Kelly came up trumps with a brilliant penalty save. He was really good tonight."

On the second leg in Bilbao: "We're still in the tie. It's all to play for now and we'll go over there and try and get a result. Tonight, they had a lot of possession and chances but we deserved what we got."

Goats-R-Us: I for one feel really bad for Onana. He's a human being and deserves a lot more compassion.

  5. 'Next week is a new opportunity'published at 22:59 British Summer Time 10 April

    FT: Tottenham 1-1 Eintracht Frankfurt

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham goal scorer Pedro Porro, speaking to TNT Sports: "I think it's a good game because the other team is good but it's the first leg, the second leg is open.

"My feeling for the team, for the fans, I wanted a victory today, but it's not possible, it's OK. Next week is a new game and new opportunity."

On scoring the equaliser: "I'm happy because it's the first goal for my baby. This is amazing but I missed the victory today."

Back-up goalkeeper Altay Bayindir was on the bench in France tonight. He has not played since Manchester United's 2-0 win in Romania against FCSB in the Europa League on 30 January.

If Ruben Amorim does decide to take Andre Onana out of the firing line at Newcastle on Sunday, it will be Bayindir's first Premier League start.

I don’t think Ruben Amorim believes that [his team are continuing to improve]. I don’t think he likes his team to be honest. I think he knows he hasn’t got a great football team. I think he wants better, he needs better.

I think you can see that from the way he is on the touchline, he always looks disappointed to me.

Should Turkey international Bayindir be in goal for Sunday's game at Newcastle?

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim speaking to TNT Sports: "We are really disappointed [to concede late]. We should have taken a one goal advantage to the next game but we have the next game at home - we will try to win that game."

On Andre Onana’s mistakes: "[It is] important to focus on the next game for the league and then think about the second leg against Lyon. When one player has a mistake, all the team has a mistake so we continue like that.”

On whether Onana retains his faith: "No we continue to do the same thing. Training, seeing the games, trying to choose the best eleven to win every match."

J: Disappointing to concede a late equaliser through more poor defensive work. Man Utd constantly shooting themselves in the foot with ridiculous mistakes all over the park. Should have won comfortably and made the second leg a formality.

Defender Leny Yoro speaking to TNT Sports: "I think this is the worst moment to concede a goal like that. We were winning 2-1, I think away this was a good score but we go with a draw and we try to win the game at home.

“We defended really well but they are a good team, a good striker, so we need to be ready for everything but unfortunately we concede the goal.”

On his first goal for Manchester United: “I didn’t enjoy too much - no celebration because it’s normal, we want to win. No time for celebration. Really happy to score my first goal. We don’t have the win but it’s okay.

“Honestly it was really quick, I don’t even think about anything, I just put my head, try to score.”

On what they can take from the performance into the second leg: “I think to be together like that, defend really well. I think we did really well. It was compact, we tried to block every counter attack, things like that we need to keep it and to give everything at Old Trafford.

“I think if we won 2-1 we would be more confident [to make it through] for sure we concede this goal, it's difficult but we need to keep our heads up. We didn't lose, we can win at Old Trafford.”

DT: Fed up with Onana. Is that 9 errors now in his short career at Man Utd that have led directly to a goal? That’s not just unacceptable, it’s pathetic. He is not United quality, he’s not even Premier League quality.

  17. 'Second leg will be cagey'published at 22:28 British Summer Time 10 April

    FT: Tottenham 1-1 Eintracht Frankfurt

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou, speaking to TNT Sports: "I can't ask any more of the lads. It was disappointing to concede the way we did, fair strike to the lad [Hugo Ekitike].

"Even before that I thought we were well in control of the game. I thought it would bare fruit in the second half and it did in every aspect but goals."

On the first goal: "Dom's [Solanke] done awfully well to hold it up, [James] Madders is really good in the box, you try and get him in those areas and then its about attacking the near post.

"It's a great finish to be fair to him [Pedro Porro].

"For us, the biggest blow we had was conceding so early. That kind of played into their hands, I always felt we'd finish the game strong.

"On any other night we go away with a comfortable victory. We have to go there and we knew it would get decided in the second tie. If we repeat that performance we give ourselves a chance.

"I don't expect the second game to be to open, it'll be cagey affair and it'll come down to moments.

"The second leg is going to be tight for sure, it might even go to extra-time, we're going to need all the lads ready to go. The good thing is we have most of them back and healthy which is important."
