    Man City 1-1 Everton

Manchester City have put a lot of decent crosses in to the Everton box without having the players there to meet them.

They'd give a lot to have Khadija Shaw or Vivianne Miedema playing at the moment.

    Ohhhh!

Kerstin Caparij makes a great overlapping run and meets a well-threaded ball from Yui Hasegawa before bursting into the Everton box.

She drills a low delivery to the back post but Lily Murphy can't hit the target.

Aston Villa have planned "for the two possibilities" with their safety in the Women's Super League still not mathematically secure, says manager Natalia Arroyo.

Victory over Liverpool in their last match gave Villa a boost and moved them four points clear of bottom side Crystal Palace.

As they prepare to travel to Tottenham on Sunday (14:00 BST), Arroyo says the last two weeks have given the club a chance to plan for the future a little.

"We have had to plan for the two possibilities – that we stay in the competition which we are fighting for until the end, or the maths that say we still have an option not to stay in this competition," she told BBC Sport.

"We are having these conversations to try to plan the two lines and think about the squad we want to have, the style we want to build and the different things we need as a club to be better, stronger and to keep building for the future."

But despite not securing safety just yet, Arroyo says there is "positive energy" in the squad following victory over Liverpool and with the return of captain Rachel Corsie, who has been back in training this week.

"She has been fighting over the last few months with injuries and trying her best. Now she is enjoying training," added Arroyo.

"She is our captain, one of our leaders and it is very good news. It is helping us to have very positive energy in the last few weeks."

Another Manchester City effort. Yui Hasegawa has the ball on the edge of the area but sends it over the crossbar.

    Man City 1-1 Everton

Argh. Kerolin Nicoli just couldn't get a clean strike away.

Jess Park slides the ball forward to Kerstin Casparij, who cuts it back to Kerolin Nicoli in the middle, but the Brazilian gets the ball tangled in her feet and her eventual shot is tame and easily stopped.

City go up the other end as they look to quickly restore their lead, but Jess Park's shot from a tight angle is palmed behind for a corner.

    Karen Holmgaard (33 mins)

    Everton are level!

Toni Payne does well to win the ball back initially and keep hold of possession on the left-hand side, then it's something you won't see very often which leads to the goal.

Sara Holmgaard is given the ball by Payne and she hangs a cross towards the back post, where her identical twin sister Karen Holmgaard nods home.

It's Manchester City's Jess Park who gets the first booking of the game as she drags Sara Holmgaard to the ground.

    Fair decision.

Robert Vilahamn arrives for Spurs' match at West HamImage source, Getty Images

Tottenham boss Robert Vilahamn says he is "extremely disappointed" at how his second season in charge has gone at the club.

After finishing sixth and reaching the FA Cup final in his maiden campaign, Spurs are currently ninth in the Women's Super League with just five wins from 18 games.

"I'm not going to lie. I'm extremely disappointed at this year and how we have not really taken the steps we were supposed to do," Vilahamn said.

The club are on a seven-match winless run across all competitions, having not won since beating Crystal Palace on 26 January.

Vilahamn added: "The main thing is to not just be very sad about this season, but actually learning from this season. Perhaps we can take two steps forward next season by learning from the mistakes this season.

"It's been a struggle this year in many ways, but it's also sometimes you need those struggles to make sure you can take the next step forward."

    Man City 1-0 Everton

Nothing comes from the corner, but Everton have a shot on the board.

Clare Wheeler hits it from distance - it might, in fact, have been a pass - and it whistles wide, causing little trouble for Khiara Keating.

Better from Everton. Karen Holmaard beats Lily Murphy on the right and gets to the byeline before drilling a pass towards the middle.

Rebecca Knaak turns it behind for a corner.

Nice idea, poor execution. Yui Hasegawa spots a gap to send a low pass towards Laura Coombs in the Everton box but there's far too much weight on it and Emily Ramsey collects.

It's been a tough season for both Tottenham and Aston Villa, who have failed to hit the heights of previous years.

After finished sixth and reached a first-ever FA Cup final last term Spurs have struggled for consistency throughout 2024/25. They sit in in ninth place in the WSL table having suffered premature exits in both domestic cups.

For today's visitors Aston Villa it has been a turbulent campaign. From the outset they have lingered perilously close to the relegation zone and are still yet to firmly secure their top flight status for next season.

Natalia Arroyo arrived in January to succeed Robert de Pauw as head coach but their struggles have continued. With just three league wins all season the Villans sit just four points clear of rock bottom Crystal Palace with four games left to play.

City can't do anything of note with the corner and now Emily Ramsey is down and in need of some treatment.

A cynic would mention the fact this gives Everton a good chance to stop the hosts' momentum and receive some instruction. Ramsey's smile supports that assumption.

This is fantastic stuff from Manchester City. Jess Park sends the ball to Kerstin Casparij in the middle, who has an effort blocked.

It then falls to Kerolin Nicoli but her shot is also blocked and it goes behind for a corner.

What a move that would have been.

Kerolin Nicoli is in down the right again and produces a wonderful run to meet her marker, running behind the byeline after knocking the ball round the Everton player before getting it back.

Yui Hasegawa can't make the most of the chance in the middle.

Nearly another! City send a cross into the six-yard box and it falls temptingly in the goalmouth, but Martina Fernandez manages to hook it clear.
