GOAL - Man City 1-0 Evertonpublished at 13:13 British Summer Time 20 April

    Kerstin Casparij (13 mins)

Kerolin Nicoli is slipped in down the left by Kerstin Casparij.

Lily Murphy meets Kerolin Nicoli's cross and nods it along the line. Emily Ramsey nearly gets to it but not before Casparij - who started the move - has got herself into the perfect position to tap home.

Casparij picks up a Mary Fowler shirt from the side as City celebrate, holding it in the air for her team-mate who has recently suffered an ACL injury.

    Crucial defending!

I've no idea what Emily Ramsey was doing there. She charged out of her box to try and close down Kerolin Nicoli despite the fact she had team-mates back.

The Everton goalkeeper slips but, thankfully for the Toffees, Martina Fernandez slides and stops Kerolin getting a shot away.

Kerolin Nicoli goes down the left, moves past Elise Stenevik and cuts the ball back into the middle, but Jess Park can't make the most of her opportunity and her tame shot is cleared.

There's the first moment of slight danger for Everton.

Kerstin Casparij lofts a cross into the box. It's cleared almost immediately and although City momentarily get the ball back Everton have it under control.

    • Manchester City have lost three of their past four WSL home games (W1), after losing just two of the previous 35 (W29 D4).

    • Manchester City have won each of their eight WSL home games against Everton by an aggregate score of 21-5, netting multiple goals in seven of those victories.
  13. Where will WSL teams finish?published at 12:50 British Summer Time 20 April

Man City v Everton (13:00 BST)

Manchester City have a 28% chance of finishing inside the WSL's top three and a win this afternoon would help to keep the pressure on Manchester United.

Everton, meanwhile, are safe and look set to finish mid table.

Manchester City are currently on 149 all-time wins in the Women's Super League, so they could achieve a milestone today.

They would be the quickest team to do so if they won today on their 213th league match. It took Arsenal 218 and Chelsea 225.

  15. Everton 'sympathise' with Man City injury crisispublished at 12:46 British Summer Time 20 April

Everton assistant manager Stephen Neligan says the club's recent history with injuries means they "sympathise" with Manchester City's current injury crisis.

Neligan took charge of Everton's pre-match media duties on Thursday as manager Brian Sorensen spent time with his family following the birth of his son.

Sorensen is expected to be on the sidelines for Sunday's WSL game at City, who have had extensive injury problems with key players such as Lauren Hemp and Alex Greenwood missing for large chunks of the season.

Their injury list became even longer this week after Mary Fowler ruptured her anterior cruciate knee ligament in Sunday's FA Cup semi-final defeat by Manchester United.

"Understanding the situation that they're in, it's never great to see any players injured anywhere," Neligan said.

"Then when it starts to accumulate across the board and it starts to to impact your ability to put squads out, then we definitely sympathise with that because it's a situation that we've found ourselves in for the last couple of seasons."

Everton, themselves, have lost three players to ACL injuries this season.

  16. Fowler will 'come back stronger'published at 12:44 British Summer Time 20 April

Man City v Everton (13:00 BST)

    Manchester City

Manchester City's torrid time with injuries recently was made even worse last weekend as Mary Fowler suffered an ACL injury during their FA Cup semi-final defeat by Manchester United.

Manager Nick Cushing said Fowler is "incredibly disappointed" but will "come back stronger".

“As you can imagine, [Mary’s] incredibly disappointed," he said in his pre-match news conference.

“One because of the magnitude of the injury but also because the type of person she is, she’s disappointed she can’t help the team for the remaining part of the season.

“We have an incredible performance department here who’ve shown her really good support, myself, coaches and staff are there for Mary.

“She’ll come back stronger with the support, work ethic and incredible talent she has. She’ll come back stronger. Everyone’s disappointed but now it’s looking forward.”

  17. Can City take advantage of Man Utd slipping up?published at 12:42 British Summer Time 20 April

Man City v Everton (13:00 BST)

What looked like a monumental uphill battle for a European qualification spot has become a tad easier for Manchester City.

That's because Manchester United dropped points yesterday when they drew 0-0 with West Ham.

If City win all of their remaining fixtures - including against Manchester United - then United have to beat both Chelsea and Arsenal to prevent their rivals getting into the top three.

They're still far from favourites for a Champions League place, but it will give some extra encouragement to Nick Cushing's side nevertheless.

Everton were victorious in the reverse fixture - beating Manchester City for the first time in the league.

Lucy Hope and Honoka Hayashi netted for the Toffees, while Mary Fowler slotted home an 89th-minute penalty for City.

City have been struggling recently and their woes are amplified by an injury crisis, so could there be another shock on the way today?

  19. Injuries mounting for Man Citypublished at 12:36 British Summer Time 20 April

Man City v Everton (13:00 BST)

Mary Fowler has become the latest player to join Manchester City's extensive injury list.

The 22-year-old ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in her right knee during last Sunday's FA Cup semi-final defeat to Manchester United.

City now have 11 players out injured, including England internationals Lauren Hemp and Alex Greenwood, top-scorer Khadija Shaw, and Vivianne Miedema, and were only able to name six players on their bench last weekend.

"With so many injuries, they can't be all bad luck and they can't all be down to bad practise," interim manager Nick Cushing said.

  20. Team news - Knaak starts for City, Gago out for Toffeespublished at 12:33 British Summer Time 20 April

Man City v Everton (13:00 BST)

Interim manager Nick Cushing makes just one change to his Manchester City side that were knocked out of the FA Cup semi-finals by Manchester United last weekend.

Rebecca Knaak returns from injury and replaces Mary Fowler, who ruptured her anterior cruciate knee ligament in the 2-0 defeat by United.

Man City XI: Keating; Casparij, Prior, Knaak, Ouahabi; Aleixandri, Hasegawa; Park, Coombs, Murphy; Kerolin Nicoli.

Subs: Annets, Yamashita, Startup. Layzell, Wienroither, Oyama, Thomas, Lewis, Davies.

Everton boss Brian Sorensen makes five changes to side that lost to United in their last WSL game back at the end of May.

Maren Mjelde and Lucy Hope are absent after picking up injuries on international duty, while Kelly Gago and Heather Payne also miss out.

Courtney Brosnan and Hayley Ladd drop to the bench, with Emily Ramsey, Elise Stenvik, Karen Holmgaard, Honoka Hayashi and Rikke Madsen all coming into the starting line-up.

Kenzie Weir returns to the matchday squad for the first time in almost a year after suffering an ACL injury.
