  1. Saka to miss Liverpool clash and internationalspublished at 09:19 British Summer Time 25 August

Bukayo Saka is set to miss Arsenal's visit to Liverpool on Sunday and England's World Cup qualification double-header against Albania and Serbia next month.

Saka limped off with a hamstring injury in Saturday's 5-0 win over Leeds, raising fears he could face a long spell on the sidelines.

It is expected that Saka will be unavailable for around three to four week, ruling him out of this weekend's clash with Liverpool at Anfield and the forthcoming round of international fixtures.

It remains to be seen whether Saka is available for the Premier League tie versus Nottingham Forest on September 13.

Much of the pre-match build-up at Selhurst Park yesterday focused on off-field matters.

The match was played out amid a hostile atmosphere, with Palace fans unhappy with Forest's involvement in their demotion from the Europa League for breaching multi-ownership rules.

Meanwhile, there was plenty of speculation about Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo's future this week after he admitted his relationship with owner Evangelos Marinakis had "changed" and they "are not as close".

On the pitch, though, Callum Hudson-Odoi scored a second-half equaliser for Forest to earn a 1-1 draw, after Ismaila Sarr's opener - leaving both unbeaten after two games.

Utd started well, fortunate for their goal but got bossed in midfield after 20 minutes. Fulham more than matched Utd and could have gone on to win it. Burnley a must win game for Utd which I think they will but it won't be easy. Draw unacceptable and damaging.

Manchester United's goalkeeping situation is the subject of huge debate because there is so much uncertainty about it.

United have kept abreast of Senne Lammens' situation at Royal Antwerp for most of the summer. They have advanced talks over the past few days to the extent Antwerp opted to leave the 23-year-old out of their Belgian Pro League victory against Mechelen a couple of hours before United took the field against Fulham.

The precise reason for that is not known. Neither is it clear if anyone will leave to make way for the former Belgium youth international.

It had been assumed Andre Onana would return at Craven Cottage, but when the teams were confirmed it emerged that Altay Bayindir had kept his place.

The Turkey international duly showed both sides of his character. Calm with the ball at his feet, but also looked weak when dealing with corners. Even with his saves, there were good and shaky moments.

For Manchester United, the opening two games of the season have offered up one defeat and one draw, placing them 16th in the table. Manager Ruben Amorim thought United were the better team against Fulham and deserved a bit more than a draw.

A stat that Amorim may want to work on, though, is he now has a Premier League win percentage of 24.1% (7 wins in 29 games), the exact same percentage as Neil Warnock (won 27 of 112 games), who was twice relegated from the Premier League.

  7. Marco Silva demanding three new playerspublished at 08:42 British Summer Time 25 August

Fulham boss Marco Silva has steered his side to a couple of draws in their opening two Premier League games.

Silva probably regards that as being quite good given Fulham have not made a significant signing this summer.

It is a situation he does not feel can continue.

"We have to sign players," he said.

"We lost two wingers and a striker and the plan we said in May has not happened.

"We have eight or nine days to correct things. We have to sign at least three players before the end of the market.

"We are short in some positions, as simple as that."

Fulham boss Marco Silva speaking to BBC Match of the Day about the club's transfer window: "Of course, I am praising our boys, but we are short in numbers in many positions. I said before the game the plan that we had didn't go through.

"We have so many things to do. The players need competitions inside."

Fulham need to back the manager. The players that Silva has got to come off the bench are talented individuals who think they should be starting, the likes of Robinson, Smith Rowe and Wilson.

They probably need a few bodies to go out and then they can strengthen. They have a good manager in Silva and they don't want to lose him. They need to bring players in and make him happy.

Back-to-back 1-1 draws with Brighton and Manchester United puts Fulham 13th in the ridiculously early Premier League table. Marco Silva looked disappointed yesterday, "sometimes the face speaks more than the words", but overall he was "proud" of the club.

Here is a thought, maybe don't take penalties like you are auditioning for Strictly and a little bump won't put you off. Look at Gyokeres penalty on Saturday, no complicated run up, place ball, hit it hard. I know which way I want my pen taker to take them.

That's what Rob Green and Troy Deeney made of the VAR calls yesterday at Craven Cottage, but how did Calvin Bassey see his tussle with Mason Mount?

"Of course, looking back maybe a bit too much force. One of those ones I have got to protect myself and get in a position to attack the ball," he told Match of the Day.

"You have seen them given, and you have seen them not.

"When you look at everything back in slo-mo, it is always going to be a foul.

"The ref has to take into consideration the difference in strength. If someone is my size, it doesn't look as bad."

Is it an ugly head? I'll let you decide. Match of the Day pundits Rob Green and Troy Deeney criticise the "dubious" VAR decisions that the officials got "the wrong way round" in Fulham's 1-1 draw with Manchester United.

It was an even contest in the second half but in the last 15-20 minutes Fulham were the better team. Their substitutions had a better impact on the game.

A draw is probably a fair result. United might disagree because of the penalty miss from Fernandes and the Cunha chance in the first half but all in all a fair result.

Once the dust had settle on Bruno Fernandes' penalty miss, a deflected Leny Yoro header put Manchester United ahead at Craven Cottage, which officially went down as a Rodrigo Muniz own goal, before substitute Emile Smith Rowe pounced on an Alex Iwobi cross from the touchline that had bounced into the visitors' six-yard box.

Fulham were not particularly pleased that United's goal was given, however, as Calvin Bassey was adamant he had been unlawfully pushed by Yoro.

"That goal... I think everyone in the world saw what happened there," Fulham boss Marco Silva told Match of the Day.

"Everyone that watches the game on TV and everyone who saw it in the stadium saw it."

Bassey added: "For me, it is clear and obvious. He has got two hands in the back and he [Yoro] has created an advantage for himself.

"If there is no contact, I get up there and fight with him. He has clearly stopped me from getting to the ball.

"For me, it should clearly be a foul."

  17. 'Referee didn't apologise' - Fernandespublished at 07:32 British Summer Time 25 August

Straight after the game and speaking to Sky Sports, Bruno Fernandes was slightly more annoyed with referee Chris Kavanagh.

"I was upset. As a penalty taker, you have your own routines, your own things that you do," he said.

"It upset me because the referee didn't apologise. That is what triggered me in that moment, but that's not the excuse for missing the penalty.

"I had a very bad hit on the ball. I put my foot too under the ball and that's why it ended up going over the bar."

  18. Fernandes 'kicked the ball very badly'published at 07:24 British Summer Time 25 August

    Fulham 1-1 Man Utd

Let's start at Craven Cottage and the draw between Fulham and Manchester United.

Bruno Fernandes' missed penalty in the first half, given after a long review by referee Chris Kavanagh for Calvin Bassey's challenge on Mason Mount, was a major talking point - and not just because it sailed over the bar and high into the summer sky.

As United captain Fernandes prepared to take his spot kick, he was bumped in to by referee Kavanagh. He did reset himself after the knock but he was unable to hand United the lead.

"As everyone has their own routine. I missed the penalty because I kicked the ball very badly," the Portugal international told Match of the Day.

It was Fernandes' first penalty miss since December 2023.

  19. Arsenal lead the waypublished at 07:16 British Summer Time 25 August

Newcastle and Liverpool are still to play but the top of the table is all London after two games. Arsenal are top on goal difference from Tottenham, with Chelsea sitting in third, level on four points with Nottingham Forest in fourth.

Down in the basement, West Ham and Wolves are yet to get off the mark while Brighton occupy the other relegation spot. But it's only August, so a long way to go.
