A debut brace from striker Mani Dieseruvwe earned Rochdale a 2-0 win at National League new boys Boreham Wood.

Both sides enjoyed early chances, with Wood goalkeeper Nathan Ashmore keeping out Devante Rodney's effort with his legs before Charles Clayden's header was saved by Rochdale stopper Oliver Whatmuff.

Dieseruvwe brought another save from Ashmore with a fierce drive from distance after 32 minutes but he did break the deadlock early in the second half with a neat backheel from close range.

The former Hartlepool frontman grabbed his second of the game shortly afterwards, turning smartly before finding the bottom corner, and although Femi Ilesanmi hit a post late on for Boreham Wood, Rochdale held on.
