Elsewhere in League One, it is hard to avoid major implications in every game.

Blackpool host Reading knowing that defeat could all but end dwindling play-off hopes. The Royals are in sixth, five points better off with a game in hand over Steve Bruce's side, who have won four of their last five.

Leyton Orient are also in the play-off hunt, three points off the pace, and they face a trip to face relegation strugglers Burton. They are currently six points adrift of safety in 21st.

Crawley are level on points with Burton and they'll hope to build upon two successive wins when they host Peterborough, who need a few more wins to guarantee their own safety.

Managerless Huddersfield's form has barely picked up since Michael Duff's departure last month. They've lost two of three since, including a 4-0 hammering against Charlton at the weekend. But a win at Lincoln will keep their play-off flame burning.

Charlton are flying in fourth under Nathan Jones, and they travel to Mansfield in confident mood having won four of their last six outings.

Steve Evans-less Rotherham face a Northampton side who also fond themselves locked just above trouble, with both side needing results to maintain the gap to the bottom four.

Stockport host Stevenage with a six-point cushion in fifth and they'll feel confident they can get a result against a side with one win in sixth.

It's a derby under the lights as Bolton and Wigan meet with the home side looking to keep pace with the play-off chasers and the visitors aiming to stay clear of trouble. But the Trotters, who haven't won at Wigan since 2011 and have lost their last three, could be vulnerable.

And finally a chance for Wycombe to put pressure on Wrexham in the automatic promotion race as they host bottom club Shrewsbury. Successive wins will mean confidence is high, and they'll be buoyed by their visitors' five defeats in six.

  15. Wealthy Wrexham look to boost Championship hopespublished at 19:27 British Summer Time 1 April

    Cambridge v Wrexham (19:45 BST)

Phil Parkinson remonstrates with a fourth officialImage source, PA Media

If there's one thing we've learnt this week, it's that Wrexham, in this challenging financial climate, know how to make a bit of money.

Does this come as much of a surprise? Not particularly. Given their Hollywood owners and their much loved TV series, the Red Dragons attract plenty of sponsorship and fans to fill the seats.

But since they brought in more money last season than some of those residing in the Championship, does it mean they have the funds to really compete in the second tier?

We could be finding out soon though the Welsh side will need to take all three points from a desperate Cambridge United side if they are to hold onto their automatic promotion spot.

The U's can't afford more losses if they are to even have a chance at staying in League One but a win over the second best team in the league? Sometimes desperation can lead to the most unexpected of celebrations.

There's been some changes to the Bristol Rovers backroom staff this week with the appointment of new director of football Ricky Martin (not that one) to replace George Friend, but it's not the only one they will be hoping to make this evening.

Three points could see them out of sight of 21st-placed Burton Albion as well add a team or two cushion between them and hovering above the dreaded drop zone line.

But lose today and, so long as things go right for the Brewers, they could be within striking distance to drop into the bottom four with Burton holding onto a game in hand, not forgetting improving Crawley who have also closed the gap to six points.

Their future is on a knife's edge and tonight they get to be the headline act thanks to a meeting with Birmingham, a team looking to set their ascension back into the Championship in stone as quickly as possible.

Nervous times for those who frequent Filton Avenue but a big win could have them feeling a whole lot calmer.

In League Two, there are plenty of connotations which could impact the table later.

Accrington's form seems to be picking up at the right time; they have lost just one of their last six and they now sit nine points clear of the bottom two. They face a Fleetwood side with slim chances of a play-off position.

Mark Hughes' Carlisle, currently bottom of the table, need wins at this stage of the season despite a clear improvement. But they face a Chesterfield side with four victories from their last five.

Grimsby travel to Crewe in the final play-off spot looking to fend off their hosts, who are just two points and places adrift. But while Crewe are winless in exactly a month, the Mariners have won their last two.

Colchester will be interested onlookers on events in the north west, as they sit between both sides in the table heading into their trip to Gillingham.

Although neither are in immediate danger given a healthy gap to trouble, fourth-bottom Harrogate host third-bottom Tranmere needing to maintain distance. Harrogate's loss to Newport on 15 March is the only one for either in their last six.

AFC Wimbledon go to Swindon needing to win in order to keep the pace in an incredible play-off race. They sit fifth with 10 points separating Doncaster in fourth and Salford in 10th.

  18. Time for the Saddlers to show their bottle...published at 19:18 British Summer Time 1 April

    Doncaster v Walsall (19:45 BST)

Mat Sadler sips waterImage source, Rex Features

The clocks went forward 60 minutes on Saturday night but Walsall fans would be forgiven for wishing they had gone back 60 days.

A seven-game winless run, albeit featuring five draws, has just about kept Mat Sadler's men in pole position, where they have sat since the first week of December.

However, after snatching a point against Wimbledon on Saturday, his team face another stern test at a Doncaster side who could gatecrash the promotion places themselves with a win, and still have a game in hand which could take them to the summit.

The Saddlers won the reverse fixture 2-0 on Boxing Day, but one of their goalscorers that day was much-missed Stoke loanee Nathan Lowe. Walsall's leading scorer across their past nine games? Centre-back Taylor Allen with three, including the lovely late free-kick equaliser on Saturday.

Doncaster have picked up 35 points from 19 home games but if Saddlers fans are looking for hope, nine of their 10 home wins came against the current bottom nine with the other against 12th-placed Fleetwood.

Walsall have won just one of their past eight on the road, but have won at Doncaster on six of their past eight visits.

Do not take your eyes off this one for a moment...

  19. It's all up for grabs at Vale Parkpublished at 19:15 British Summer Time 1 April

Port Vale v Bradford (19:45 BST)

Another huge game in the promotion race which has seemingly slowed down to a crawl in the final straight.

With seven games remaining second-placed Bradford visit third-placed Port Vale with anything from the title to the play-offs looking realistic for both sides.

Jayden Stockley’s late winner in the derby against Crewe on Saturday was the perfect way for Vale to bounce back from their nine-match unbeaten run ending at home to Barrow a week ago.

The win took them within three points of the Bantams, who were held to a stalemate at Accrington – their third game in four without scoring.

They'd need a five-goal win to overhaul their rivals tonight, while a point might be enough for Bradford to go top, should Walsall get thumped at Doncaster.

The Valiants have lost just of their past 10 home games against Bradford, collecting 19 points, but the Bantams do shine brightest under the floodlights – they are unbeaten in their past 10 midweek games, going back over a year, taking 22 points.

Box office stuff in the fourth tier tonight...

  20. Can Chairboys unseat Wrexham?published at 19:12 British Summer Time 1 April

Wycombe Wanderers have the opportunity to go back to to an automatic promotion spot if they beat bottom-of-the-pack Shrewsbury Town, but will also have to bank on Wrexham losing out to another struggling club in Cambridge United.

Meanwhile, there are four clubs vying to end the day in a play off position, with Reading looking to hold off Huddersfield, Bolton Wanderers and Leyton Orient with a victory over Blackpool.

The bottom four, however. will see the same occupants come the end of the evening no matter what but Bristol Rovers will want to ensure the distance is kept the same - though they will have to register a win against league leaders Birmingham City to do so.
