Is today the day, after nearly four months at the summit, that Walsall are finally knocked off top spot?

The Saddlers have been living dangerously, winless in their past seven matches dating back to 22 February, though their promotion rivals have all suffered blips of their own, allowing them to stay top by a point, despite having been 12 clear with a game in hand at one stage.

Tonight the leaders head to fourth-placed Doncaster, who could close within two points of them with a win, while third-placed Port Vale entertain Bradford, who sit second, and could overhaul the Saddlers if they can return to winning ways after a stalemate at Accrington.

At the other end Carlisle are looking increasingly doomed ahead of their trip to Chesterfield, with an effective 10-point gap to Tranmere to close, with in-form Rovers on the road at fellow strugglers Harrogate. Second-bottom Morecambe are slightly better off ahead of their home game with Cheltenham.
