Club World Cup prize money clearly has a significant impact on club's finances.

Chelsea have spent £198m on reinforcements so far this summer on the likes of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap and £84m of that has been covered by their impressive run at the Club World Cup.

And despite Manchester City's surprise exit to Al-Hilal, they still earned enough to cover about 35% of the summer business they have conducted so far.

In more simple terms, it has paid for their £31m acquisition of Rayan Ait-Nouri from Wolves.

  4. Who pocketed the most?published at 10:01 British Summer Time 14 July

Unsurprisingly, Chelsea have come away with the most money after winning the competition.

Enzo Maresca's side earned £84m in total, of which £21.3m was for participating and £62.7m in performance based prize money.

PSG earned the second-highest with £78.4m and Real Madrid slightly less at £66.5m.

Manchester City, who were knocked out in the last 16, still pocketed £37.8m.

I must say, I was a bit sceptical over our recruitment of buying inexperienced young players and so many of them but if it's winning us games and trophies then why not.

One of the main talking points throughout the Club World Cup has been the prize money available.

The new look competition had a prize pot of $1bn (£726m) to give out to the 32 competing clubs, with $525m divided between all clubs for participation and $475m awarded on a performance-related basis.

European clubs were handed between $12.81m and $38.19m just for turning up, while teams from other continents were given a set fee - that was $15.21m for South America, $9.55m for North and Central America, and Asia and Africa, and $3.58m for Oceania.

Fifa has not confirmed the individual amounts given to European clubs for taking part, so we have used estimates from football finance website The Swiss Ramble based on Uefa's club coefficient system

  7. Chelsea's financial boostpublished at 09:45 British Summer Time 14 July

Enzo Maresca will no doubt be delighted to add a second trophy to the cabinet during his first season in charge at Stamford Bridge.

But the Chelsea board will be waking up this morning just as pleased about the boost to the club's finances.

Let's take a look, shall we....

  8. Palmer 'confused' by Trumppublished at 09:34 British Summer Time 14 July

If you were confused by Donald Trump's antics during the trophy presentation, you weren't the only one.

"I knew he was going to be here but I didn't know he was going to be on the stand when we lifted the trophy,” said Palmer.

"I was a bit confused, yeah."

Chelsea looked good going forward didn't they?

They were there to pounce every time PSG turned the ball over - which was a lot in the first half - and winger Pedro Neto showed impressive work-rate to nullify one of the world's best full-backs in Achraf Hakimi.

Malo Gusto, who has been criticised in recent months, had PSG's Nuno Mendes on toast and Chelsea thrived down that left-hand side.

Cole Palmer reaped the rewards of that and was able to produce an almost carbon-copy second goal, much to everyone's surprise.

Joao Pedro has fitted in perfectly and fellow summer signing Liam Delap was a nuisance when he came on with just over 20 minutes to go.

Chelsea nullified PSG in a tactical masterclass from Enzo Maresca.

That's what we want to know.

Speaking after the Club World Cup victory, captain Reece James said the club's ambition next season has to be to win the Premier League.

But is that a realistic target? Are Chelsea ready to challenge for the Premier League or are they still short in areas?

  14. 'It was a very stressful situation'published at 09:05 British Summer Time 14 July

    Chelsea 3-0 Paris St-Germain

Luis Enrique could face action after his part in the incident, with the Spaniard appearing to slap Joao Pedro in the face.

But the former Barcelona boss said he was merely trying to separate the two sets of players.

"I have no problem expressing my feelings at the end of the game in a high level of pressure. It's very stressful for all of us and it's going to be impossible to avoid that," said Enrique.

"Everybody was involved. It was not what was best and the end result of the pressure of the match.

"I have seen Maresca. I saw he had pushed others and we had to separate all the players and I do now know where that pressure came from.

"But this situation was to separate the footballers so the situation did not become worse."

  15. 'PSG lost their heads'published at 08:59 British Summer Time 14 July

    Chelsea 3-0 Paris St-Germain

Chelsea striker Joao Pedro was at the centre of the full-time fracas that saw PSG boss Luis Enrique having to be dragged away by his own players.

But the Brazilian was calm after the incident, saying the French side 'lost their heads'."I don't need to talk about them," said Pedro.

"Everyone wants to win the game and, in the end, I think they lost their heads.

"This is football. This has happened. Now we need to enjoy it because we won the tournament, that's it.

"I don't want to talk too much about them because you know how it works."

  16. 'We won the game in the first 10 minutes'published at 08:52 British Summer Time 14 July

    Chelsea 3-0 Paris St-Germain

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca, speaking to Dazn: "I have no words for the players. They all deserve this and it's a good moment. For me, we won the game in the first 10 minutes. We set the tempo and we were very good at pressing them. The conditions made it hard to keep going but the boys did well."

On Cole Palmer: "Today we found a position for him where there was more space to attack. Obviously Cole played really well but the effort from all the players was fantastic."

On the future for Chelsea: "Of course I am very excited [about the future] but I'm more excited that we have three weeks off."

  17. Ruthless Chelseapublished at 08:44 British Summer Time 14 July

    Chelsea 0-3 Paris St-Germain

It's rare that Enzo Maresca's Chelsea have as little of the ball as they did against Paris St-Germain.

The Blues had a 33.5% share of possession in New Jersey, with the Ligue 1 side dominating the ball.

But, after two early goals, the Blues were happy to give up the ball and to stay in shape.

It helps, of course, when you score with three of your five shots on target.

  18. Palmer's finals recordpublished at 08:32 British Summer Time 14 July

    Chelsea 3-0 Paris St-Germain

Cole Palmer wasn't lying when he said he 'likes finals'.

His brace and assist in New Jersey means he's now scored or assisted six goals in his last three finals.

It's a run that stretches back to the Euro 2024 final when he scored against Spain and includes a brace of assists in Chelsea's Europa Conference Final win against Real Betis.

But, including the Community Shield and Super Cup, the England playmaker now has eight goals or assists across his six 'finals' for Chelsea.
