Ultimately, I've always said that Chelsea could have a second and third string team and probably win the WSL.
It's a non-negotiable that Chelsea win the Champions League this year. It won't be easy, but the amount of investment they've had, they have to win this competition.

Chelsea head coach Sonia Bompastor, speaking on Disney+: "We have a good squad with depth and talent, quality. We always want to start every campaign with ambitions and I think everyone knows the Champions League is the only trophy that is missing at the club, but again, we want to start with a strong start today, focus on the game. It's a new format, really exciting, and we are excited to start the campaign."
On using her squad depth tonight: "When you play in the most competitive league in the world, I think when you have three games in a week, when you have the Champions League and the English league, you need to make sure you bring quality in your squads but also some fresh legs."

Something I've really liked about Aggie [Beever-Jones] is that you can see her developing.
I think this season she's been Chelsea's most important player. This is a player who is full of confidence, and you can see that in every action in the game.

Chelsea only lost three games throughout the 2024-25 season, and they all came in the Champions League.
The Blues lost 2-0 to WSL counterparts Man City in the first leg of their quarter-final tie, before going through 3-2 on aggregate, before losing 4-1 in both the home and away legs of their semi-final with Barcelona.

The Dutch side faced Chelsea twice in last season's Women's Champions League group stage, losing 3-1 at home and 6-1 away under then-head coach Joran Pot.
Under Dekker, who took over as head coach this summer, Twente are unbeaten in four league matches and have navigated two rounds of qualifying to reach the Champions League league phase.
Speaking to uefa.com, Dekker said: "We want to do things differently than last year.
"The team gave away a lot of space because we pressed so high, then [Chelsea] just played through them.
"Chelsea are a world-class team, and we are not. That's not a bad thing, but it means you have to be a bit smarter."

But one trophy has continued to evade both her and Chelsea: the Women’s Champions League. Chelsea were runners-up in 2020-21 and have lost to Barcelona in the semi-finals in each of the past three years.
As another tilt for their maiden European title gets under way, Bright says the club’s “ambitions are clear”.
"It's exciting. It's a competition every player wants to play in, you dream of it as a little kid. To play in it is a privilege," Bright said.
"It's a competition which is never taken lightly. We've seen how hard the women's game is now to compete and to win. It's getting harder and harder each season, which is fantastic.
"Our ambitions are the same every single season. The journey always looks very different, but our ambitions are very clear.
"Our journey starts today, so we want to start in the right way and get off to a good start."

The Blues dominated both of those meetings, winning 6-1 at Stamford Bridge and 3-1 away from home.
However, she believes the typically high-pressing Dutch champions will be “ready to perform at home”.
“Twente look different from last season,” Bompastor said. “They have been working together one more year now, so probably they have more connections and more experience together.
“I’m sure they learned a lot from last season and in this new campaign. They will be ready to perform at home.
“Both Chelsea and Twente come out and want to win their games. I think there are some similarities in the way we want to play. I know their coach likes to use a high press.”

Chelsea cannot afford to take this team lightly as they are top of their league, scoring lots of goals. Peng's first proper start is a CL game? Always a concern for me when Cuthbert and Bjorn don't start, but hopefully Bompastor knows what she's doing.

Manchester United's match with Paris St-Germain at Old Trafford on 12 November will be the first game to be shown on the BBC, followed by Chelsea's meeting with Spanish giants Barcelona on 20 November.

Winless in their past four. Five points adrift of the top domestically. Struggling to keep clean sheets.
The team who were thrilling winners of this competition in May have lost their edge for now.
Losing 2-1 to eight-time European champion Lyon is not a worrisome result in isolation - there is plenty of time to make up for this opening setback and progress from the league phase to the knockout rounds.
But it compounds a sense that Arsenal are experiencing a "blip" and need to nip it in the bud before it becomes more than that.

Arsenal, looking to end the trend of victories by travelling sides, made a fast start and scored with their opening chance in the seventh minute.
Beth Mead bundled through a tackle on the edge of the area before showing quick feet to play in Alessia Russo who finished coolly across Christiane Endler.
But Dumornay turned the game as she scored twice in five minutes after taking advantage of loose passing in the Arsenal backline.
