Peterborough have named the same side which started last weekend's win over Wycombe.

    Cardiff 0-0 Bradford

Cardiff have dropped skipper Calum Chambers to the bench today along with Perry Ng and Joel Colwill.

The rain – and boy is it raining – hasn’t dampened any spirits for this one. The earlier results may have robbed the fixture of its the ‘first versus second’ billing, but both sets of fans have seemingly bought into the early-season significance.

More than 2,000 Bantams have made the long – presumably wet – journey from West Yorkshire and are already making their voices heard and flags seen away to our right on their first ever visit to Cardiff City Stadium.

As for Cardiff, the negativity that swirled around the city for a good while before relegation last season has very much disappeared thanks to the youthful revolution being overseen by Brian Barry-Murphy. More than 21,000 packed in. Miserable weather, exciting times.

Salford City host Swindon Town this afternoon in a top of the table clash.

The Robins are the current League Two leaders while the Ammies sit just two points behind their opponents in third place.

With 18 points from their opening eight league games this season, Swindon have made their best start to an EFL campaign since the 2006-07 season – one in which they were promoted from the fourth tier.

Salford have lost just one of their past seven league meetings with Swindon - a 2-1 defeat in February 2023.

    Strap in, folks!

  6. Elsewhere in League Onepublished at 14:50 BST 20 September

In addition to the top two at the start of the day facing off in Wales, there are other sides bidding for those automatic promotion spots come this evening.

Fast-starting Doncaster and Stevenage are two of those teams, and they host Wimbledon and Exeter respectively.

Two sides at opposite ends of the table meet in Yorkshire, as second-bottom Burton travel to sixth-placed Huddersfield.

Back in May, Reading and Leyton Orient were hunting the final League One play-off place. The Royals (21st) and the O's (14th) haven't hit those heights so far this season. They meet today both searching for three points to help try and replicate the lofty ambitions of last season.

Stockport County were another side in the thick of the third-tier play-offs in May, and will look to keep in touch with the early running for the top six away at Rotherham this afternoon.

Only goal difference keeps Port Vale out of the bottom four going into today, and Darren Moore's side will look to pull clear of danger at home to Mansfield, who are winless in three.

Cardiff v Bradford City (15:00 BST)

    Top v second.

    Relegated v promoted.

A lot of soul searching was done at Cardiff over the summer following relegation to the third tier for the first time in 22 years.

Brian Barry-Murphy is the man entrusted with guiding them to a swift return to the Championship - five wins and two draws from an unbeaten start is certainly one way of stamping your mark.

Only four of last week's squad in the draw at Stockport didn't feature in the final game of last season - it's been evolution rather than revolution under the new boss, and maybe just changing mindsets rather than personnel.

Avoiding defeat today would make it the Bluebirds' best unbeaten start to a campaign in 25 years, but with second-placed Bradford the visitors, it might be easier said than done.

The Bantams continue to use the momentum of last season's dramatic last-second promotion to propel them forward.

Graham Alexander has had to add some League One know-how to his squad. In Bobby Pointon, he has a five-goal homegrown forward drawing admiring glances from those higher up the food chain.

    This should be good...

  8. Chairboys seat Duff at the top tablepublished at 14:47 BST 20 September

    Wycombe v Northampton (15:00 BST)

New Wycombe boss Michael DuffImage source, Getty Images

Wycombe became the first League One club to make a managerial change this season when they sacked Mike Dodds and replaced him with the former Huddersfield, Swansea and Cheltenham boss Michael Duff.

Losing in the play-off semi-finals last season having spent much of the campaign vying for automatic promotion has raised expectations in Buckinghamshire.

Defeat at Stevenage spelt the end for Dodds, who said the club needs time to settle: "Right now, what the club doesn't need is a change. It doesn't need to scrap everything and go, 'Right, let's panic.' What it needs is a period of stability."

That stability lasted under a week with Duff now charged with finding a second win of the season and a climb back up the table.

Northampton took just one point from their opening four games - they've earned nine from their past three and are looking to win four in a row for the first time since October 2022.

Despite the change in management, victory for the Cobblers might make the Wycombe natives even more restless...

    Plymouth v Peterborough (15:00 BST)

The clouds of poor starts might just be clearing for these two.

Plymouth arrive at Home Park having won back-to-back league games, but victories over Stockport (4-2) and Luton (3-2) also highlighted their biggest problem.

Goalkeeper Luca Ashby-Hammond has made the most saves (29) of anyone in League One - Plymouth also have the worst defensive record with 17 goals conceded so far.

That's a hangover from last season when they shipped 88 goals. The personnel may have changed but head coach Tom Cleverley must find a way to stem the tide.

Peterborough finally got their first win of the campaign over Wycombe last weekend to ease the growing pressure on boss Darren Ferguson.

Sixteen new faces arrived during the summer transfer window as Posh look to improve on last season's 18th-place finish, but they head to Devon propping up the table.

Oh, and they have the second-worst defensive record in the division - should be goals then!

  10. 'Really impressed with Bolton's performance'published at 14:38 BST 20 September

    FT: Bolton 4-1 Wigan

    Keith Hill
Former Bolton and Barnsley boss on BBC Radio Manchester

It was brilliant from Bolton, and absolutely superb for Steven Schumacher against one of his closest friends in football.

You have to be really impressed with Bolton's performance, especially in the first half and the professionalism in the second half.

There was desire, determination, grit and then the footballing ability to exploit the space that Wigan gave them, it was a joy to watch.

    Bolton deserved the victory.

    FT: Lincoln 3-1 Luton

Top of the league, and a Carabao Cup date with Chelsea to come on Tuesday.

It's a good time to be a Lincoln fan. Enjoy it, Imps!

  12. FULL-TIMEpublished at 14:32 BST 20 September

    Lincoln 3-1 Luton

They left it late after a fast start, but the Imps are top of League One!

Two goals from Ben House - one in the first half - bookended a Jordan Clark equaliser for Luton and an immediate response from Justin Obikwu in the final 15 minutes.

Back-to-back defeats for Luton, who remain on 12 points after eight games.

A first home league win over the Hatters since an 8-1 triumph in 1966.

  13. FULL-TIMEpublished at 14:30 BST 20 September

    Bolton 4-1 Wigan

This was over by the interval with goals from Thierry Gale, Marcus Forss and Mason Burstow giving Bolton a 3-0 cushion.

Forss added a fourth just after the break following some awful Wigan defending.

Paul Mullin grabbed a consolation for the visitors who can count themselves fortunate not to lose by more.

    Very impressive from Bolton today.

At least Wigan fans only have 11 miles to travel back - some may have started well before the final whistle.

  14. FULL-TIMEpublished at 14:28 BST 20 September

    Blackpool 1-0 Barnsley

There's barely time for Barnsley to kick off before the full-time whistle goes and Blackpool have their second home win of the season.

Jordan Brown's 98th-minute strike wins it.

The home side limited Barnsley's potent strike force of David McGoldrick and Davis Keillor-Dunn to fleeting sights of goal despite more than 63% of possession.

A big win for Steve Bruce and his players.

  15. FULL-TIMEpublished at 14:25 BST 20 September

    Cambridge 2-1 Fleetwood

Six minutes of injury time have been concluded and Cambridge take all three points.

Fleetwood pushed and applied plenty of pressure on their opponents in the final moments but they were unable to find an equaliser.

The U's showed tremendous character to come from behind in entertaining fashion to claim the win.

  16. goal

    Jordan Brown (90 + 8 mins)

    Right at the death!

They've defended so well and kept Barnsley at bay despite all their possession and Blackpool have stolen it in the eighth minute of stoppage time.

Oliver Casey tees-up substitute Jordan Brown who finds the net from the edge of the box.

  17. Postpublished at 14:24 BST 20 September

    Lincoln 3-1 Luton

There's nine minutes of injury-time being played, but the Luton fans have had enough and are heading for the exits.

Town fans have only seen their team win or lose this season, and this is a second defeat on the bounce.

  18. FULL-TIMEpublished at 14:24 BST 20 September

    Harrogate 2-0 Shrewsbury

That is the end of the game and Harrogate take all three points!

Goals from Jack Muldoon and Conor McAleny sealed the win for the Sulphurites as they returned to winning ways in League Two.

After a run of four defeats in a row, this result will come as a welcome relief to Harrogate, Shrewsbury remain second from bottom after nine games.

We will have seven added minutes.

This has been over for a while though.

  20. goal

GOAL Lincoln 3-1 Lutonpublished at 14:20 BST 20 September

    Ben House (90 mins)

    Game. Set. House.

The icing on the cake for Lincoln, and it's a fine finish by Ben House. The forward plays a one-two with fellow goalscorer Justin Obikwu on the halfway line and then bears down on the penalty area.

There's options ahead of him but he goes it alone and curls a beauty into the far corner.

Surely this one is done and dusted now?
