Four-goal Hamilton Academical thrashed Lanarkshire rivals Airdrieonians to leave Rhys McCabe's struggling side rooted to the foot of the Scottish Championship.

The hosts were two down by the ninth minute at Excelsior Stadium when Connor Smith's opener for the visitors was followed by a Sam Graham own goal.

Kevin O'Hara then fired in a third early in the second period before Dylan McGowan's late fourth sealed a convincing victory for John Rankin's men, who jump up to sixth.

Meanwhile, Airdrie, whose winless league run has stretched to 11 games, remain four points adrift at the bottom and have now conceded 24 goals in 12 Championship matches.
