It's swung into the near post area and cleared by Jan Bednarek.

West Brom get back on it and Johnston gets down the line and crosses to the back post where Darnell Furlong is thundering in.

He meets it on the volley but can't direct it on target.

There are 1,996 Saints fans among the 25,367 present at The Hawthorns today.

Less than a tenth of the total attendance. But they have certainly been making themselves head since the start of the second half - with a long and loud and slightly remixed rendition of 'When The Saints Go Marching In'.

Southampton have come out the best in this second-half. They've dominated so far.

They are passing the ball around so well.

It's frustrating for Albion and that's why they are giving away free kicks. They can't get the ball back.

Southampton are getting closer.

Flynn Downes drives forward from midfield and sets it to his right for Joe Aribo to shoot at goal.

The shot's blocked away but Albion are having to get through a lot of defensive work this half.

It'll be interesting to see how long it will be until Carlos Corberan starts making changes.

He usually does make three or four changes.

Southampton are playing good possession football. They are making the Albion players run around.

Both these teams stumbled as the finish line beckoned.

The Baggies had been in fifth for months before dropping to sixth after the 45th match day.

They got over the line last week with a comfortable win over Preston.

They're having to be on the mettle to keep the Saints out at the moment.

Joe Aribo tries to waltz into the Albion area but Cedric Kipre stands strong and clears the ball off the Saints man's hand.

I don't feel like the Leeds keeper Illan Meslier had anything to do all game.

When you are at home, that's a shame.

Norwich are going to have to lick their wounds and assess the state of the injuries.

It is a little bit underwhelming today. It was hot out there and Leeds came with a gameplan.

Norwich midfielder Kenny McLean speaking to Sky Sports:

"It was a tough game. I think first legs are a bit cagey.

"It's obviously a big game for both teams and we both want the same prize.

"We will look at what we can do better. We wanted to take an advantage here but it's one we will look forward to."

Earlier this afternoon, Norwich and Leeds finished goalless in the first leg of their play-off semi-final at Carrow Road.

The Championship play-offs 2024 are still to serve up a goal. But I make it 3-1 to Southampton here at the break in terms of decent chances.

In the stands, however, I'd say West Bromwich Albion's fans are about 3-1 up.

Since a spectacularly good rendition of The Liquidator at kick-off time, we've had the full repertoire . . . 'We're The Albion', 'We've Got Carlos Cor-bran' (to the tune of 'Glad All Over'), 'Slap A Dingle'. . . and that's just the ones I can understand the lyrics to!

The travelling Saints have been heard too - but really they will have their turn come Friday night.

You can't keep playing at high intensity all the time. It's died down a bit - the tempo for Albion - and it's just allowed Southampton to come more into it and put pressure on the Albion.

I expected a tight game like this, nothing else. When there is so much at stake, it's going to take a mistake or a miraculous goal.

I must say from Albion's point of view, Adam Armstrong is a good goal scorer and has nearly got away so they've got to watch him.

You've got to be tuned in all the time when you are on the pitch.

An entertaining but frantic first half of the play-off semi final.

The Baggies started the game a team possessed but Southampton warmed up to the task and grew into the game.

Saints will be happy to go in level but it should be 1-0 up after that chance for Flynn Downes, he has to score.

Nothing in it at the break but you do feel like a goal could be coming in this one.

The home side made a high-energy start, roared on by a raucous Hawthorns.

Southampton, by hook and by crook, managed to get through the early storm and then had some chances of their own, Kyle Walker-Peters seeing a shot deflect just wide.

The closest either side have come has been Alex McCarthy's excellent stop from Grady Diangana's towering back post header... Yes, you read that right.

No goals from three halves of play-off football so far today.
