Rangers have lost three of their last five matches in all competitions, all of which have been at Ibrox.

Back-to-back home defeats to St Mirren - which led to the sacking of Philippe Clement as manager - and Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership have come since the defeat to Scottish Championship side Queen's Park in the Scottish Cup last month.

Rangers' last away game in Europe was a 2-0 defeat at Manchester United, but they have beaten Nice and Malmo on the road this term.

New manager Barry Ferguson's side are second in the Premiership table, but 16 points behind leaders Celtic.

Chris: What Arne Slot is doing at Liverpool is great, but even as a Liverpool fan I'd have to go with David Moyes for Premier League manager of the month. To immediately turn that club around in the manner he has, with no resources beyond his coaching skills... remarkable.

    On the whole, very good.

Jose Mourinho's side enter tonight's meeting with Rangers currently on an 18-match unbeaten run in all competitions.

That run consits of 11 wins and seven draws since losing 2-0 at home to Athletic Club in the Europa League on 11 December.

They currently sit second in the Turkish Super Lig table, four points behind leaders Galatasaray.

Dan Atherton, GK for Warrington Town in the National League North. He came up for set pieces in two separate games to score equalisers in stoppage time last season.

Favourite goalkeeping performance - Carlisle's Jimmy Glass. Played a blinder and scored in the last seconds to keep Carlisle in the league. Was an on-loan keeper as well.

Nigel Spink when the Villa won the European Cup. Came on when Jimmy Rimmer got injured and played like he was a veteran. His first save the ball was behind him when he clawed it back. One of the best saves ever in a final, surely.

Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho says he is the "opposite" of racist following the racism allegations made against him by Galatasaray.

Galatasaray said they would "initiate criminal proceedings" against Mourinho after claiming he made "racist statements" following the teams' 0-0 draw on 24 February.

"They [Galatasaray] were not clever in the way they attacked me, because they didn't know my past," Mourinho told Sky Sports., external

"They didn't know my connections with Africa, with African people and African players and African charities.

"So instead of going against me, I think it boomeranged and went against them."

Following the Istanbul derby, Mourinho said the home bench had been "jumping like monkeys" during the game, with Fenerbahce subsequently saying Mourinho's comments had been taken "completely taken out of context".

Mourinho, 64, has also filed a lawsuit against Galatasaray seeking damages worth 1,907,000 Turkish Lira (£41,000).

    Newcastle United

Sticking with Newcastle United briefly, left-back Lewis Hall has been speaking to the club's website after being ruled out for the season through injury, less than two weeks before their EFL Cup final against Liverpool:

"I feel like my season's gone well and it's come at probably the worst time. I would want to continue playing but we had to look at my career and agree on what was best. If I was to play through the pain, things could have got worse which would have a negative impact on my career long-term.

"Honestly, I would play through anything if I could. Obviously the cup final is a massive game; I'd played in all the games leading up to it and I'd like to think I've played a big part in us getting to this stage.

"And with the internationals coming up as well, it's disappointing that I'm not available to be selected for that - and that I can't play in the end of season games which ultimately will determine the competitions we play in (next season), whether we get in the Champions League.

"It's quite hard to accept at the minute but I'm still young and there are many opportunities ahead, I'm very confident in that."

On whether Myles Lewis-Skelly was fortunate to avoid being sent off after escaping a second yellow card against PSV:

I think so. I think the first one is unlucky. I don’t really think it’s a foul, let alone a yellow card, but the referee has been quite forceful and decided that is what it is.

When you’re on a yellow card, you’ve got to be careful and it is good to be a young player and try and want to be out there and make a difference.

But, you’ve got to stay on your feet and the way he gets up looks as if he’s expecting a long walk down the tunnel, but he gets away with it is massive for him and it’s a great learning opportunity. Smile for now because these days don’t come around very often.

I don't remember who Newcastle were playing a few years back, all I remember is Tim Krul being an absolute octopus of a keeper and denying shot after shot after shot. Can't remember the details of the game, but absolutely remember his performance.

  12. 'Why not consider Lewis-Skelly and Nwaneri for England?'published at 13:21 Greenwich Mean Time 6 March

    PSV Eindhoven 1-7 Arsenal

    Nedum Onuoha
Former Manchester City defender on MOTD: Uefa Champions League

On whether Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri should be in the next England squad?: You’d like to think so. Obviously they are young and they’ve got many, many years ahead of them, but if they are good enough now then why not consider them?

On Nwaneri: "He’s such a star, I’d be very surprised if he spends a lot of time on the bench after (Bukayo) Saka comes back. Every chance he will find to be in that team and make a big difference."

There are no Arsenal players on that list, but it seems only a matter of time before rising stars Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri start to garner nominations following a string of standout displays.

Both teenagers made their mark in the Gunners' stunning display at PSV on Tuesday.

BBC pundit Nedum Onuoha was asked whether the Arsenal teenagers might be under consideration for England call-ups...

Will William Jaaskelainen (Woking) saved 3 penalties and then scored the winner in last weekend's FA Trophy quarter-final. Does that count?

We don't see why not. Will certainly comes from good goalkeeping stock, but we don't remember his dad Jussi scoring too many goals for Bolton or West Ham...

  18. Most successful Liverpool seasons in historypublished at 12:59 Greenwich Mean Time 6 March

Liverpool squad lift Champions League trophy in 1984Image source, Getty Images

Liverpool are on course for a very good season - if you believe the bookmakers.

They are favourites for every single competition they remain in (Premier League, EFL Cup and Champions League) and should they complete that holy treble - it would be the first time they have done so since 1983-84, arguably tying as their greatest season ever.

With that said, they haven't won anything yet - and they still have a long way to go if they are to match some of their best ever campaigns.

    • 1983-84 treble (European Cup, League Cup & League title)
    • 1985-86 double (FA Cup & League title)
    • 2001-01 treble (FA Cup, League Cup & Uefa Cup)
    • 2021-22 (FA Cup, League Cup, PL runners-up with 92 points)

Wednesday's win at Paris was certainly one Alisson will remember for a long time, but it was just another glorious night in a long list for Liverpool, as the Premier League leaders continued their love affair with European competition...

The question is, will this go down as a season for the ages in Liverpool's proud history?

And Andrew in Leicester had to dredge up these painful memories...

Re 10:38, Portugal keeper Ricardo saved Darius Vassell's penalty (gloveless!) in the Euro 2004 shootout vs England, then promptly stepped up to score the winning penalty himself, does that count?!
