It's a busy time for the big man, but even he can't miss out on catching a game in the ever entertaining Championship.

Bagged himself a decent parking space at the Falkirk Stadium, too. His sleigh is plonked right at the front door.

Few bairns ransacking it in search of gifts as I was walking in.

Getting back to winning ways and picking up three points today would be a decent present for John McGlynn's league leaders.

  2. Four seasons in one daypublished at 14:39 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December

    Airdrieonians v Partick Thistle (15:00)

    Kenny Crawford
    BBC Sport Scotland in Airdrie

In the build-up to kick-off here in North Lanarkshire, we’ve already experienced sun, rain, wind and sheets of hailstones.

Definitely not too envious of the Diamonds and Jags players this afternoon.

Airdrieonians are searching for some much-needed Christmas cheer - Rhys McCabe’s men haven’t won a league match for 140 days now.

As for Partick Thistle, Kris Doolan’s side are eager to apply more pressure on the top three in the Championship.

After days of heavy criticism for officials, it was nice to start the weekend without any controversy, wasn't it?

    Wasn't it? Wasn't it?

    Hmm, okay. Maybe not.

  5. Cowie on enforced changes & difficult weatherpublished at 14:32 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December

Ross County v St Mirren (15:00)

Ross County manager Don Cowie tells BBC Scotland: "I'm disappointed for Alex [Samuel]. He's been really patient to get his opportunity, he's done really well the last two games, so to not get the chance to build on it is frustrating.

"Eli [Campbell] has done really well, he's really versatile. We're hoping he's only going to be a couple of weeks out, but for Alex - it's up to us to rally round him and help him through another tough period coming up.

"St Mirren ask a lot of questions of you, make you defend. They're missing Toyosi Olusanya today, who's been a real threat but they have lots of other threats.

"Today is about standing strong and dealing with the conditions the best. Don't be spooked by it, whatever weather comes. It's about making good decisions, playing for territory."

Rangers could overtake Aberdeen in second, but the Ibrox club have to beat Dundee and the Dons would need to drop points at home to a Hibs side who are looking to edge closer to the top half.

Meanwhile, St Mirren can move level on points with fifth-placed Dundee United with a victory up at Ross County, who will be looking to drag themselves further clear of the bottom two.

  7. A Christmas cracker at Pittodrie?published at 14:28 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December

    Aberdeen v Hibernian (15:00)

    Tyrone Smith
    BBC Sport Scotland at Pittodrie

It was honours even when Aberdeen and Hibernian contested a pulsating six-goal thriller at Easter Road at the end of the last month.

Would it be asking too much for them to serve up a Christmas cracker at Pittodrie this afternoon?

Aberdeen are returning to action after having a weekend off.

From the outside looking in, the break came at a good time for the Dons - they may still be second in the table, but they are now five games without a win and Jimmy Thelin’s side have looked jaded at times of late.

You can make a case that draw with Aberdeen at Easter Road was the catalyst for a change in fortunes for Hibs.

They have won two of the three league games they have played since then - they lost the other but that was at Celtic, an encounter which saw the capital club ask the hosts plenty of questions.

However, their predicament remains perilous. Yes, their performances have improved, but ninth-placed Hibs remain just two points off the bottom.

Another three points today really would suggest that David Gray’s side are riding the crest of a wave of upward momentum.

  8. Thelin hopes break benefits Donspublished at 14:26 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December

    Aberdeen v Hibernian (15:00)

Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin tells BBC Scotland: "It was good to have a weekend off. We've had some tough results, not much rhythm in the game, hopefully the break will help us get that back.

"I think it's going to be quite an open game, hopefully we can be more compact between our lines."

  9. Hale in for County; Saints change twopublished at 14:23 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December

Ross County v St Mirren (15:00)

Ross County pair Alex Samuel and Eli Campbell are out with the injuries they sustained against Hibs last weekend, while James Brown also misses out.

Jordan White and Ronan Hale come into attack, with the Michee Efete brought into defence.

Stephen Robinson is forced into two changes from the side that triumphed at St Johnstone last weekend.

Skipper Mark O'Hara and Conor McMenamin miss out through injury, with Oisin Smyth and Roland Idowu brought into the starting XI.

Alex Gogic returns from suspension for a place on the bench, while Toyosi Olusanya is banned after going through the disciplinary points threshold.

  10. Time for Rangers to move on - Clementpublished at 14:21 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December

    Rangers v Dundee (15:00)

Rangers manager Phillipe Clement tells BBC Scotland:"We have a new game now and our minds need to be clear on that. If we focus on Sunday we cannot perform. That was the message to the team and that's what I want to see on the pitch.

"It's about breaking open the [Dundee] wall, it's a challenge against Dundee for every team. They use every trick in the book - and sometimes outside the book - to stop you.

"It's about focussing on our tempo and our play. Dujon Sterling is at centre-back because we're going to lose John Souttar for several weeks. With Leon Balogun and Robin Propper, they can't play 90 minutes every three days.

"Danilo comes back into the team, that's more rotation. Nedim Bajrami played a really good game against Celtic, Danilo came in well and is getting fitter and fitter."

    Aberdeen v Hibernian (15:00)

Jimmy Thelin makes four changes from the side that drew 1-1 with St Johnstone.

James McGarry, Shayden Morris and Kevin Nisbet drop to the bench while Jack Milne is out of the squad as he recovers from an ankle operation.

Nicky Devlin, Jack MacKenzie, Ester Sokler and Topi Keskinen are in from the start.

David Gray makes two changes to his Hibs side from last week's victory over Ross County.

Junior Hoilett and Dwight Gayle are replaced in the starting XI by Martin Boyle and Josh Campbell.

    Rangers v Dundee (15:00)

Oscar Cortes is among the substitutes, having been out since September.

Trevor Carson replaces Jon McCracken in goal again for Dundee, who had last week off.

The other change from the defeat at Tynecastle is Scott Tiffoney for Oluwaseun Adewumi, who is injured.
