I think it is a bad decision by Nicolas Jackson. And his agents and advisors should have known and advised better, but they are only out for their cut of the money, screw what is in the best interest of the player. Chelsea will sign a recognised number 9 in the next year or so and he will be out on the scrapheap, constantly going out on season long loans. He made his bed and he has to now lie in it - for a long time it seems!

  2. 'We will find solutions' with Chilwellpublished at 13:16 British Summer Time 13 September

Bournemouth v Chelsea (Sat, 20:00 BST)

    Chelsea

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca on Ben Chilwell:

"We will sit with him and find solutions. He is probably going to be back with us [training]. We will see. At the moment, he is not training with us. The reason why he [was] training apart, is because the idea was for him to leave."

  3. James and Gusto still out but Lavia close to returnpublished at 13:13 British Summer Time 13 September

Bournemouth v Chelsea (Sat, 20:00 BST)

    Chelsea

  4. Spending energy thinking about ownership 'not worth it'published at 13:11 British Summer Time 13 September

Bournemouth v Chelsea (Sat, 20:00 BST)

    Chelsea

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca on reports of problems between co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali and Clearlake Capital:

"We need to know a bit each other. I try to be as honest as possible. If I spent my energy about something different [the ownership situation] I think it's not worth it. My focus is just about tomorrow's game. Focus in the way we want to prepare for the game in the best way.

"The other things are things I cannot control.

"I spoke with Todd when we played City, I spoke with Beghdad a few days ago. There are no problems at all. I just focus on what is on the pitch because that is all I can control."

  5. Sancho 'exactly the player we knew'published at 13:09 British Summer Time 13 September

Bournemouth v Chelsea (Sat, 20:00 BST)

    Chelsea

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca on new signing Jadon Sancho: "I said many times I decide the first XI depending on training. Jadon is one of our wingers. I see him how I expect him. Very good player, good quality in one-versus-one. He is exactly the player we knew.

"It is finding the right opportunities for him."

  8. Brentford 'always difficult' to playpublished at 12:57 British Summer Time 13 September

Man City v Brentford (Sat, 15:00 BST)

    Manchester City

And finally, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola spoke highly of opponents Brentford, who are the only team to beat City at home in the last two years: "I admire Thomas Frank unbelievably. Always has been tough [to play them] here and there and this is no exception.

"They’ve changed their shape a little bit. They have fast and strong players up front and have a really good process in the build-up. So aggressive, man-to-man and defend well so it is a complete team.

"They have always been so difficult and I have a feeling tomorrow will be no exception."

Man City v Brentford (Sat, 15:00 BST)

    Manchester City

Back to Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola on playing Arsenal, Watford and Newcastle within six days: "It is going to happen many times when teams play in all competitions. We prioritised having more rest for Newcastle [and a quicker turnaround from Arsenal to Watford].

"We will do our job anyway because we love to do it. I’m not a specialist about the calendar. We follow it. The meetings are useless. Everyone knows the schedule will be tight this season so you just have to accept it."

Tottenham v Arsenal (Sun, 14:00 BST)

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has provided a team news update before his news conference. Here is what he has to say:

"It’s fairly positive, Micky's [van de Ven] good, he's trained all the way through the international break and it was good for him to stay with us to build him back up so he's ready to go.

"Dom's [Dominic Solanke] improved as well and trained the back half of this week. We still have two days to go with those guys, so hopefully they get through training ok and are available.

"We had the last of the boys in late yesterday so we'll have a look at them today and everyone's reporting all well except for Yves Bissouma. He's got a bit of an issue, but we'll have a look at him over the next couple of days and see how it settles.”

Guardiola did, however, confirm that Phil Foden and Rodri have been in training and "look really good". Foden has been suffering with an illness and Rodri picked up a small knock on international duty.

As mentioned earlier, Nathan Ake is injured and not expected to return until after the next international break.

More from Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola on the upcoming hearing: "It starts soon and then finished soon. An independent panel will decide and I am looking forward to the decision."

On whether he and the players have spoken about it: "I am not a lawyer. Erling is not a lawyer, no. There are many lawyers in this country and in Spain, but I will wait and see.

"We will accept the sentence. I know there will be more rumours and more about the [possible] sentences but we will see. I know what people are expecting as it’s what I’ve read for many years. Everyone is innocent until proven guilty."

“I think I'm in the right place, with the right manager, with the right fans. I think we created something special and I think this was the only one decision I could make to extend the contract and stay here.”

  16. 'Brentford have been a bogey team for Man City'published at 12:31 British Summer Time 13 September

Manchester City v Brentford (Sat, 15:00 BST)

    Chris Sutton
    Former Premier League striker

Brentford have been a bogey team for Manchester City in the past and Bees boss Thomas Frank knows how to beat them, that's for sure - he did the double over them in 2022-23.

That's not going to happen this time, though. I refuse to put Erling Haaland in my Fantasy team on principle, because the whole nation has picked him, but he is just unstoppable at the moment and City should win this one comfortably.

City don't usually hit their stride so early in a season. If this is them just warming up, then god help the rest of the Premier League.

    Sutton's prediction: 3-1

Erling Haaland's hat-tricks, injuries to Nathan Ake, Phil Foden and Rodri, being top of the Premier League, having to play two games in three days.

There is lots for Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola to talk about today.

But I am guessing there will be a different starting point.
