When Willum Willumson got their he buried it. It was a terrific goal. Dykes had a major role to play in that goal, holding up the ball.

It's one of the training ground but you still have to put it into the practice under pressure against good opposition.

    This is quiet...very quiet.

    Neither goalkeeper has been extended.

    What a start for Blues...

A nice move down the left ends with Keshi Anderson playing a low ball back across the area for Willum Willumsson to stroke home via the inside of the post from near the penalty spot.

No chance for Christy Pym in the Stags goal.

"We're going to win the league", the travelling fans chant... maybe we do need to believe them.

  4. goal

GOAL: Morecambe 1-1 Chesterfieldpublished at 12:40 British Summer Time

    Ben Tollitt (10 mins)

Mind you, the equaliser didn't take long either!

Ben Tollitt wins a free-kick for Morecambe on the edge of the Chesterfield area.

Adam Lewis crosses and Tollitt nods it in - what a start!

  5. Postpublished at 12:40 British Summer Time

    Reading 0-0 Bristol Rovers

Possession stands at 50-50 but it's Reading that are posing the biggest threat.

The Royals win themselves a free kick after Andre Garcia is brought down a few metres outside the box. Lewis Wing takes but it meets the foot of a Rovers player and the attack is ended before it begins. Danger dispelled... for now.

  6. goal

GOAL: Morecambe 0-1 Chesterfieldpublished at 12:38 British Summer Time

    Dilan Markanday (8 mins)

    That didn't take long!

Dilan Markanday has his fifth goal in a Chesterfield shirt.

The on-loan Blackburn striker has space on the edge of the box and his deflected effort loops over Stuart Moore.

  7. Postpublished at 12:38 British Summer Time

    Mansfield 0-0 Birmingham

Blues are in their third kit for the first time today, an unfamiliar black and red number, like baddies in a Hollywood sports film.

Quiet start. An early corner for the Stags comes to nought while fit-again Jay Stansfield has a long-range blast charged down at the other end.

  8. Postpublished at 12:36 British Summer Time

    Colchester 0-0 Salford

Some neat build-up play from Salford ends with a couple of crosses headed away by the Colchester defence but the visitors are seeing a lot more of the ball.

  9. Postpublished at 12:34 British Summer Time

    Reading 0-0 Bristol Rovers

Reading are perfecting the art of the good start.

Forward Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan takes the first shot of the day after weaving his way through from the right but his shot is sent too far north.

No first minute goal this time for the Royals.

  10. Postpublished at 12:34 British Summer Time

    Colchester 0-0 Salford

Colchester skipper Tom Hopper puts pressure on his opposite number Curtis Tilt in the Salford area but it's too much according to our American referee Alex Chilowicz and the visitors can clear with a free-kick.

Sunshine's out, spectators in seats, whistles in referee's mouths.

Can Morecambe drag themselves off the bottom of the League Two table? Will Birmingham drift even further afield at the top of League One? Can boss Matt Taylor earn some extra love from Bristol Rovers fans at Reading?

Time for our early kick-off's to get started.

  13. Dykes 'has a proven goal scoring record'published at 12:29 British Summer Time

    Mansfield v Birmingham (12:30 BST)

    Ian Clarkson
Ex-Birmingham captain on BBC Radio WM

Alfie May doesn't look like he needs a rest, but you have got to factor in that Lyndon Dykes has barely played this season. He's had a couple of starts, he's come in as a Scottish international and dropped down from the Championship.

Dykes has got a record of one goal in five, so he probably needs a bit of game time. It's not like he's untried and untested. We are bringing in an international player who has got a proven goal scoring record.

Despite a 2-1 win at Wigan on Tuesday, Nigel Clough has made four changes to his Stags side for the visit of Birmingham.

Lee Gregory, George Maris, Stephen McLaughlin and Elliot Hewitt come in while influential skipper Louis Reed is absent and Lucas Akins, Frazer Blake-Tracy and Ben Waine drop to the bench. McLaughlin will take the captain's armband.

Chris Davies makes two changes to the Blues XI which beat Bolton on Tuesday, with Jay Stansfield and Lyndon Dykes coming in up top for Alfie May, who drops to the bench, and Emil Hansson who was forced off with injury early on against Wanderers.

  15. Reading 'enjoying their football'published at 12:27 British Summer Time

Reading v Bristol Rovers (12:30 BST)

    Mick Gooding
Ex-Reading player/manager on BBC Radio Berkshire

It should be a good attendance today, and that's what we want. The fans know that when they come to the home games, more often than not, they are going to see Reading win, and long may that continue - more and more fans are coming back.

The other night [against Exeter] they all looked like they were really enjoying their football, especially Jayden Wareham who will be a little bit disappointed he is not in the line-up.

Jayden Wareham impressed with his first-minute goal against Exeter in the week but he sees himself warming up the bench as part of Reading's three changes in today's early kick-off.

Chem Campbell and Charlie Savage join him as potential substitutes while Ben Elliot and Mamadi Camara come into the starting XI.

Sam Smith is in to lead the line.

    Two changes for the Gas.

Tuesday's goal scorer Jamie Lindsay finds himself among the substitutes with the indication being he's having his minutes monitored rather than being dropped. Grant Ward starts in his place.

Meanwhile, Clinton Mola is in the starting XI to face his former club over a missing Lino Sousa, who does not even make the bench.

    Birmingham City

Birmingham City manager Chris Davies claps Blues fansImage source, Rex Features

Birmingham City boss Chris Davies admitted that their fixture away from home against Mansfield will be a 'real challenge':

"I think they are similar to Wrexham in the sense they are a promoted team, they know how to win.

"They've got experienced players that know what it takes to win a game of football. They are quite a well-rounded team: They can play, they can pass the ball, they can go direct - get crosses into the box. They are always a threat on set pieces because they are physical, they are resolute. They are not a team that are easy to score against.

"Mansfield are up there for a reason, they are fourth in the league because they deserve to be, and going away from home its going to be a real challenge for us."

Reading head coach Ruben Selles gesticulates on the touchlineImage source, Rex Features

Reading manager Ruben Selles on how the support of the home fans helps bring 'another level of confidence' for the Royals:

"Being back at home, it brings another level of confidence, and makes us strive to want to put in a good performance, and get another three points and build towards our season objectives.

"But we know it won’t be an easy game, like us, Bristol [Rovers] had a good result during the week so will be coming to our place in a positive mood.

"Last week, we had a huge support behind us, and we know as fans you always want to have a team on the pitch that is performing, has character, and is going to give everything for the club.

"The boys are really feeling the support."
