  2. 'To say we expected to win the title would be a bit too much'published at 13:44 British Summer Time

Liverpool v Crystal Palace (Sun, 16:00 BST)

    Liverpool

In his interview with BBC sports editor Dan Roan, Liverpool boss Arne Slot said that winning the Premier League title in his first season in charge was "an achievement that we hoped for".

"We worked really hard, but to say we expected it, I expected it, would be a bit too much," he added.

Nevertheless, the season will end with Monday's bus parade to mark Liverpool's record-equalling 20th English league title.

"I think these moments will be some of the most special moments in your life, professional-wise, maybe the most special moment," Slot said.

Celebrating Feyenoord's title success with 100,000 people had been "very special", he said, but "to do it with a multiple of that will probably be a once-in-a-lifetime experience".

"Although, we are planning to win a few things more at this club, so let's hope it's not going to be the last time," he added.

  3. 'Man City will be title challengers next season'published at 13:37 British Summer Time

    Liverpool

Although Liverpool and Manchester City are separated by 15 points, Arne Slot said Pep Guardiola's side have been "better in the second part of the season".

Speaking to BBC sports editor, Dan Roan, Slot praised City's form after they won the past four Premier League titles.

"Four or five years - it is such an incredible accomplishment to be at the top for so many years," said Slot.

"With this manager (Guardiola) and the players they’ve got, Man City will always be part of the competition that we will face next season."

  4. Slot 'didn't have to repair any confidence' when succeeding Klopppublished at 13:29 British Summer Time

Liverpool v Crystal Palace (Sun, 16:00 BST)

    Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp will be attending Liverpool's final game of the season on Sunday, when the Reds will be presented with the Premier League trophy

When Klopp announced he would be leaving Liverpool on 26 January 2024 - Liverpool were five points clear of Manchester City and were on track for Klopp's second Premier league title.

That didn't come to fruition and the Reds ended the 2023-24 season nine points behind City in third. But Klopp's predecessor Arne Slot said in an interview with BBC sports editor Dan Roan that he "didn't have to repair any confidence".

He said: "A few of them had already won the league, a few of them had won the Champions League and one of them is a World Cup winner (Alexis Mac Allister).

"The players that play at this level know they can win trophies. It wasn't like I had to do anything about our confidence. What we needed to do was a few things better, which is normal."

"They (Leicester's board) know what I think and how I see things - it is up to them to respond to that. We will all find out, hopefully sooner rather than later."

He added: "Those six weeks we have been working on a certain development and preparation for next season.

"I think filling in that position with another striker won't require a lot of difference in the type [of striker].

"It depends on who fills it in. Patson Daka is a type who also makes the deep runs. He is also quick in transitions."

"Six weeks ago, I came into this room and changed the narrative on the season - shaping the future, bringing in academy players. We had to because of the relegation.

"Those six weeks have been development and results. That's something I want to continue with the players.

"We wanted to break some cycles which we also achieved, bring some positives towards the end of the season and take it into the new season. Now it's the last game on Sunday and we're focused on that."
