Newcastle boss Eddie Howe on Joelinton not returning from injury: "No, he won't be back. He's had another injection in his knee, which was always on the cards for him.

"He's in a knee brace only as a protection from that injection.

"He's making good progress. We envisage he will be back for pre-season, with no problems."

Newcastle v Everton (Sun, 16:00 BST)

    Newcastle United

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe on facing Everton and aiming to finish in the Champions League places: "By no means is it a given. Everton have been difficult to beat and haven’t conceded a lot of goals.

"They have threats in their team as well. So, we have to be focused and concentrate on what we need to do to win the game.

"I don’t think we can look for any favours of anybody - we can only do our bit. For us, we know what we have to do."

  4. 'Isak has an opportunity' to returnpublished at 10:57 British Summer Time 23 May

    Newcastle United

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe on Alexander Isak's fitness: "He's doing OK. He hasn't trained with us yet, but he's made good progress through the week.

"The next couple of days will be absolutely crucial to his availability on Sunday.

"There's a chance. It is difficult to give anymore than that really.

"Until he trains with us we won't fully know how he responds. At the minute, he has an opportunity."

Next up we have Eddie Howe addressing the press.

Newcastle go into the final day of the season sitting in fourth position, but the race for Champions League football is not over.

If Newcastle fail to beat David Moyes' Everton side they will be relying on the teams below them to also drop points.

Let's hear what Howe's got to say...

    Alexander Isak (Newcastle)

The Sweden striker has spearheaded Newcastle's Champions League challenge and helped them end their 56-year trophy drought by winning the Carabao Cup. He has also become the first Magpies player since Alan Shearer in 2003-04 to score more than 22 league goals.

    Virgil Van Dijk (Liverpool)

While team-mate Mohamed Salah will take the individual awards, defender Van Dijk has also been central to their success. He has made the most touches in the Premier League, the most passes, the fourth most interceptions and is also in the top 10 for clearances.

    Murillo (Nottingham Forest)

The defender has been integral to Nottingham Forest's exceptional season, his partnership with Nikola Milenkovic crucial at the back. He has made the most clearances in the Premier League this season, including three off the line.

    Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford)

The Cameroon international has had a superb campaign for Brentford, netting 19 Premier League goals to keep the Bees in the hunt for a European place next season. Some of the top-flight's 'bigger' clubs may come circling this summer.

    Eberechi Eze (Crystal Palace)

The Crystal Palace winger will go down in Eagles history as the player who scored the winning goal for the club's first major trophy, stunning Manchester City in the FA Cup final.

The brilliant Eze has scored a total of 15 goals this season, timing his run to perfection with seven in his last six games for Oliver Glasner's side.

    Nikola Milenkovic (Nottingham Forest)

The bargain signing of the season. Forest paid just £12m to sign the Serb from Fiorentina and he has marshalled the backline superbly.

Milenkovic's performances in defence guarantee European football for Nuno Espirito Santo's side next season, but will it be the Champions League or Europa League?

  8. 'I could even understand Salah thinking, 'is all of this necessary?''published at 10:38 British Summer Time 23 May

Liverpool v Crystal Palace (Sun, 16:00 BST)

    Dan Roan
    BBC sports editor

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has admitted initially finding Reds boss Slot "quite tough" and recently spoke of the pair having "honest conversations" during pre-season after a lacklustre warm-up in a training session, about doing more and setting a good example to younger players.

Does saying that to a player of that status come with risk?

"I'm not so stupid that I just say this out of the blue, bam," said Slot. "And I think I'm smart enough, and I think the main thing you have to do as a manager, if you want to bring your message across... you have to do this in the right way.

"So it wasn't only that - probably I gave him 15 compliments during that conversation, and then I showed him how he did the warm-up."

Slot acknowledged that at that point of pre-season, Salah was largely training with academy players, and added: "I could even understand him thinking, 'is all of this necessary?'

"The way your message comes across, that is something where I think we as managers can make a difference, not so much maybe in our tactics because everybody has great tactics, but how you bring your tactics across - do the players believe in it?"

  10. Bradley 'ready to step up' for Liverpool - O'Neillpublished at 10:30 British Summer Time 23 May

Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill says Conor Bradley will not be "fazed" by competition at Liverpool next season.

The 21-year-old has featured 28 times for the Anfield club this season and picked up a Premier League medal with Arne Slot's side.

With Trent Alexander-Arnold's departure this summer, Bradley will hope to establish himself as first-choice right-back next season, although the club are expected to make Bayer Leverkusen's Jeremie Frimpong their first summer signing.

"Conor's not stupid," said O'Neill after naming Bradley in his squad for friendlies against Denmark and Iceland next month.

"He's playing, arguably, in one of the top three teams in Europe, they've won the Premier League and won it convincingly. You have to expect competition and Conor knows that, whatever form that comes in.

"When you're at a club like Liverpool, you have to expect that. And as a lad, Conor's not fazed by that. He knows that if he wants to play at that level, he's going to have to play with that competition throughout his career."

  11. 'I hope I can influence fans on Trent'published at 10:25 British Summer Time 23 May

Liverpool v Crystal Palace (Sun, 16:00 BST)

England defender Trent Alexander-Arnold will end a 20-year association with Liverpool after Sunday's match against Crystal Palace.

The 26-year-old Liverpudlian opted to not renew his contract and is expected to join Real Madrid.

His appearances since announcing he would leave have been against a backdrop of some booing.

When asked what reception he hopes Alexander-Arnold receives when he is presented with his title winner's medal on Sunday, Red boss Arne Slot said: "I hope the same for every other player that contributed to us winning the league, that they will get the reception every player deserves.

"All have worked so hard, not only this season, but throughout their careers to achieve something like this. They did this for themselves, but partly also driven by our fans.

"It would be fantastic, if it's only going to be a positive moment for everyone at the club, and Trent is part of that.

"I hope I can influence them, but they have their own opinion as well."

  12. Improving the champions - Liverpool's transfer targetspublished at 10:20 British Summer Time 23 May

Liverpool v Crystal Palace (Sun, 16:00 BST)

    Liverpool

Both Arsenal and Manchester City will be expected to be among Liverpool's rivals for next season's Premier League title - with both clubs also expected to spend big in the summer.

After little transfer outlay in the past year, BBC sports editor Dan Roan asked Reds boss Arne Slot if he needed to do likewise - and, if so, on which positions.

He said: "I think another question is: 'Does a player that doesn't play that much want to stay at a club where he's not playing that much?'

"I always say that to be on the bench for one season is already difficult - to not play a lot two seasons in a row is almost impossible, so it's not only what I want, it's also what the player wants."

He knows Liverpool will have to buy new players to compete - though accepts it may not be possible to bring in the targets he wants.

"City will probably strengthen the squad again. If the rumours are correct, Arsenal is planning the same, so it would be stupid if we are not looking at trying to strengthen the squad as well," he said.

"Again, I've said it many times, it's not that easy because this team has already won the league. So to find players that can strengthen us - that might not be that difficult - because there are certain players in the world where I think, 'if they would come, it would be nice'.

"But they're also playing at clubs where they don't want to leave. So there are not many that can strengthen us, but the few that are out there, we will try to get them. At this moment of time we're not sure if that's possible."

    Shots fired by Arne!!

Should we now do a story linking Liverpool with a move for Lamine Yamal and Raphinha this summer?!

I suspect they might be out of their budget - and every other club on the planet, for that matter.

Liverpool boss Arne Slot on Barcelona sporting director Deco saying he "likes" Luis Diaz: "Yes, every club has its own way of doing things.

"You are used to the fact I don't talk about other players we haven't signed. I understand he is a big admirer of Luis Diaz, so am I!

Well that's something I've learned today... 'true Scousers' are those who live in the area where the council provides purple wheelie bins for household waste.

Apparently it's an urban myth that the council chose purple to avoid showing favour to either Liverpool (red) or Everton (blue).

I wonder how soon Arne Slot learned about the significance of purple bins!

  16. 'In pre-season Alexander-Arnold was in my office quite a lot'published at 10:09 British Summer Time 23 May

Liverpool v Crystal Palace (Sun, 16:00 BST)

    Liverpool

Before we hear from Newcastle boss Eddie Howe, here's more from Liverpool boss Arne Slot on Trent Alexander-Arnold: "I have been speaking to him more recently and I think that is the biggest difference between me and all those who have a purple bin (live in Liverpool city centre).

"I speak to the human being. I speak to Trent every day. That combined with winning something creates a different bond to maybe what the fans have with him.

"In pre-season he was in my office quite a lot - for other reasons - and now he is in my office. I can say why as a first gift to Xabi Alonso (who is set to be the new Real Madrid manager) but I wasn't completely happy with every single minute in how he was in training.

"He could have done a bit more. That is what we talked about. And I told him he was a much better defender than people say, but you don't show it all the time."

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca on team news for Sunday's game:

"Yes, he (Christopher Nkunku) is working with us in the last days and Marc Guiu. Both can be available for the next game against Forest."

  19. 'The minute you join Chelsea you feel the pressure'published at 09:58 British Summer Time 23 May

Nottingham Forest v Chelsea (Sun, 16:00 BST)

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca on whether he is feeling any pressure to achieve Champions League qualification:

"The minute you join Chelsea you feel the pressure. You don't need to play these kind of games to feel more pressure. I've felt pressure since I've joined the club because it is a club where you have to win games. We won many games this season but we need one more."

  20. 'Good things throughout the past three games'published at 09:56 British Summer Time 23 May

Liverpool v Crystal Palace (Sun, 16:00 BST)

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Arne Slot on his side failing to win their past three games: "We won't be the first or last team to lose at Chelsea or Brighton away. I have seen many good things throughout the past three games.

"But conceding eight goals in three games is not at our standards the whole season.

"That desire to block a shot or throw yourself in front of a tackle is maybe one or two percent off. This league hurts you if that is the case.

"There is no luck in the fact we built up a margin earlier in the season."
