  2. Defeat 'not due to a lack of effort' - Goodwinpublished at 17:55 Greenwich Mean Time

    FT: Celtic 3-0 Dundee United

Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin tells BBC Scotland: "We can analyse the goals against and believe we can do more from our perspective. The shape and structure of the team was good behind the ball.

"It was too easy on the edge of the box, there was no pressure on [Callum McGregor]. And Jota, it was quite similar, really. When he comes inside the 18-yard line, we need to be engaging with him.

"When you go two goals behind here, you know hard it is going to be. We thought if we could get the next goal, we might be able to make things nervy for them. But credit to Celtic and Brendan [Rodgers], they have been very consistent throughout. We need them to be on an off day and that was not the case today.

"This group will always keep going and give their all for the jersey. It certainly was not due to a lack of effort, it was down to quality. Sometimes you need to hold your hands up and admit you are playing the best team in the country."

  3. Docherty bemoans 'self-inflicted' concessionspublished at 17:52 Greenwich Mean Time

    FT: Dundee 1-2 Aberdeen

Dundee manager Tony Docherty tells BBC Scotland: "I'm hugely disappointed. We need to learn lessons and learn them quickly. There are seven games to the split and that's a game we should be taking something from.

"The first goal, there was a tug on [Antonio] Portales' jersey and the fourth official said to us there was a tug on the jersey. My staff saw the same. We didn't think the goal would stand. I don't know what VAR have done with that. We were negligent there, we allowed someone free at the back post. But there was a pull and I don't know why that wasn't picked up.

"Second goal, again, we need to take full responsibility for that. We allow the throw-in to get to the striker's feet, we win possession, then lose it, and we don't get pressure on the ball. These things, we need to take responsibility for. It's a bit self-inflicted.

"We are converting chances, we just need to make sure we need to tighten up at the back. It's just mistakes.

"The league table is so tight. If we can make sure we still carry that goal threat and stop the negligence we will give ourselves a chance of winning these games and making sure our objectives for the season are met."

  4. Rodgers delighted with 'excellent' McGregorpublished at 17:51 Greenwich Mean Time

    FT: Celtic 3-0 Dundee United

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers tells BBC Scotland: "I thought we were excellent today off the back of a tough physical game in the midweek. The level of the game and the quality of the goals was outstanding.

"[Callum McGregor] is such a big tactical reference for the team. He sits in there and controls the game. Overall, he was excellent.

"We want to win every game. If you don't do your work, or you look for an easy game, that's when you come unstuck. United have been fantastic this season. We knew we had to play to a good level to get a result."

  5. Cowie looking up after impressive away winpublished at 17:46 Greenwich Mean Time

    FT: Motherwell 0-3 Ross County

Ross County manager Don Cowie tells BBC Scotland: "I thought it was a really good team performance, we've built on our really good away form, it's four wins out of five away from home.

“It was a real collective effort, so delighted for the boys, an important three points and we move on to Dundee next week.

“I think we've earned, you know, the four victories in the last five [away] games and with the manner of performance that we've put on and when you get the first one it gives real belief and it gives confidence and that's a massive part of football and it's just about trying to maintain that.

“It's what we all know, we know how tight the league is, it's very compact and it's just important that we look after ourselves and try and accumulate as many points as possible up until you know the split comes around.

“We've started in terms of today with three really important points and now it's about building on that next week."

  6. Killie 'stopped St Johnstone enjoying game'published at 17:41 Greenwich Mean Time

    FT: Kilmarnock 3-1 St Johnstone

Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes tells BBC Scotland: "That was the motivation for us all - if we could follow up an important victory against Dundee United here.

"We knew we had our work cut out and had to deliver a big performance. We did exactly that. The intention was to stop St Johnstone enjoying the game.

"We had to be more effective with the ball and turn over possession time and time again. The first goal is an example of that.

"We scored some brilliant goals today and it could have been more. The only negative was the fact we never kept the clean sheet."

  7. St Johnstone 'can't cry about it' - Valakaripublished at 17:39 Greenwich Mean Time

    FT: Kilmarnock 3-1 St Johnstone

St Johnstone boss Simo Valakari tells BBC Scotland: "Of course, disappointing result. Big credit to the opponent, they put us under a lot of pressure.

"We were not good enough in the deciding moments, but we are a good team, we will keep going. Nothing has changed. We recover now.

"We need to be solid, good with the ball, that gives us the backbone to win football matches. Today is a great example. When you concede three goals, it's hard to get back.

"We scored one beautiful goal, a good combination through the middle, but we need to be solid and play our way. That gives us a chance to win.

"There are so many games left. We can't lose and waste these opportunities. Today we did, we can't cry about it."

  8. Like somebody popped a balloon - Frail on Well losspublished at 17:35 Greenwich Mean Time

    FT: Motherwell 0-3 Ross County

Motherwell interim manager Stephen Frail tells BBC Scotland: "[I am] extremely disappointed, angry is an emotion as well.

"It was just a poor performance. The sessions have been good, the players have been alive, they've been bright, they've been desperate to get back on the pitch.

"We start the game reasonably well, we concede a cheap goal and you can just see the confidence getting drained from them.

"I'm stressing at half-time, we're fifth in the league for a reason for the start of the season that we've made, collectively as a group of players and a coaching team.

"But to lose that goal and then, I'm not using the word capitulate, but we don't show enough urgency to get back in the game.

"Second half, again, we're probably more on the front foot but we concede a second goal and, as I say, the whole energy from the players, in the stadium, it's just like somebody just popped a balloon and it just goes so flat and, as I say, it's an incredibly disappointing result."

  9. Aberdeen 'put smiles on faces'published at 17:32 Greenwich Mean Time

    FT: Dundee 1-2 Aberdeen

Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin tells BBC Radio Scotland: "I can see the faces of the players, the happy faces of the fans who supported us in struggling times and good times.

"We put a smile on their faces with how the team competed and helped each other on the pitch. We had some difficult situations but the players defended together and sacrificed themselves.

"It's important for us to re-focus now on the next game but take some good points from this game and the cup game. We are playing better together."

On Topi Keskinen's wonder strike, the Aberdeen boss says: "It was a really nice goal. Topi is a really nice guy and I like when he shows some emotion when he scores goals and celebrates with the supporters."

  14. Celtic convincing with gears left to findpublished at 17:04 Greenwich Mean Time

    FT: Celtic 3-0 Dundee United

    Martin Dowden
    BBC Scotland at Celtic Park

This was another convincing win as Celtic's march to the title shows no sign of relenting.

The worry for competitors is it felt like Brendan Rodgers' side had a few gears left at times.

They left key men on the bench from the start and it made little difference.

Dundee United stuck to their task but were always struggling to land a blow to give them something tangible as reward.

With 12 games to go for the champions, another Premiership crown looks a certainty.

  18. FULL-TIME Kilmarnock 3-1 St Johnstonepublished at 16:57 Greenwich Mean Time

Kilmarnock cruise to victory over St Johnstone to move into the Scottish Premiership top six for the first time this season and end the visitors' fine run of form.

The visitors came unstuck trying to play out from the back early on. Elliot Watt lost the ball on the edge of his area and Liam Polworth sent a dainty chip over goalkeeper Andy Fisher when one-on-one.

St Johnstone started to come back into the match towards the end of the first half, but found themselves two down shortly after the interval when Fraser Murray curled in a free-kick from 30 yards.

Four minutes later, Bobby Wales made it three when he plucked a long ball forward out of the sky with an exquisite first touch, before showing unbelievable composure to stroke the ball past Fisher.

Graham Carey netted a late consolation but St Johnstone are now six points adrift at the bottom, while Kilmarnock rise from 10th to sixth.

Ross County ultimately cruise past the struggling hosts, who drop out of the top six for the first time since August.

County, who were impressive throughout, are now out of the relegation play-off spot.

Ronan Hale netted either side of the break with Connor Randall's late low, driving strike putting the game beyond the struggling hosts, who remain without a manager.

  20. FULL-TIME Dundee 1-2 Aberdeenpublished at 16:55 Greenwich Mean Time

At last, Aberdeen's brutal wait for a Scottish Premiership win is over. At the 15th time of asking, Jimmy Thelin's men bag three points in the league and reclaim third spot from Dundee United.

Kevin Nisbet converted the opener after Topi Keskinen's back-post effort was saved, before the Finn rasped in a truly wonderful long-range howitzer to double the Dons' lead on 52 minutes.

Within a minute, though, Dundee pulled one back through substitute Seb Palmer-Houlden, and given the chances they spurned in either half through Simon Murray, Josh Mulligan and Jordan McGhee, will be desperately frustrated to leave empty handed.

Defeat leaves Tony Docherty's men second bottom.

A game of unrelentingly high tempo was a compelling watch, even if the quality on show was not top tier.
