Another chance missed by Khadija Shaw.

In fairness, it was difficult to finish on the turn and her shot goes wide instead.

City women remain unconvincing. For all their possession, they have created less chances in this game than Everton. Shaw has missed two sitters. The crossing from fullbacks Casparij and Ouahabi has been poor. Something lackadaisical about the whole set-up.

    On Kelly Gago's goal:

That is sublime. To have that in your brain to be able to flick with your heel is so impressive. And the confidence she's showing, three goals in two games, the confidence is high and that's what she can do.

    Anita Asante
Former Arsenal defender on BBC Two

I have been impressed with Everton because they rode some pressure early on from Manchester City who were generating a lot of attacks. Then they found their composure and recognised the moments they could spring attacks forward and find space in behind.

  8. 'Sometimes football is just cruel'published at 15:34 GMT

    FT: Liverpool 1-1 Brighton

    Liverpool

Liverpool defender Jenna Clark speaking to Sky Sports: "I think we probably just showed more spells of what we have already been doing. We showed it throughout the game for a bit longer. We kept possession well, we created chances, we got forward, we defended well. It's frustrating to lose a goal right at the end there."

On Brighton's late equaliser: "Honestly I don't really know what you can pin it down to. Sometimes football is just cruel. I felt like all of the girls left their all on the pitch today, so we couldn't really ask for more on the day."

On showing signs of finding their feet under Taylor: "We have shown it in spells in every game that we have played so far, it just hasn't clicked for us. Today was maybe the start of that happening. There's more to come from us.

"It's been a really difficult start to the season so hopefully we can take the positives and push on. It is still a step in the right direction. We did want to take all three points today but it's the first one on the board so it's still really important."

  9. 'Frustratred'published at 15:32 GMT

    FT: Liverpool 1-1 Brighton

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton manager Dario Vidosic, speaking to BBC Radio Sussex: "We're a little bit frustrated. We wanted to come here to get the three points, created probably enough. On a different day we maybe go 1-0 up and after that you never know. I think there was probably too long of a period where we couldn't find our rhythm, especially in the first half and a little bit of the start of the second half. We just need to find how we can get out a little quicker and not lose momentum. Just the details were probably lacking a little bit. We made it a little difficult for ourselves unfortunately."

On a point away from home being important given Brighton's away record: "I don't think we've ever really lost belief being away from home. I think if we reflect on the games we've been a little bit unlucky.

"At Tottenham we had a massive call go against us where a penalty and a red card changes everything and leading into that week we had three injuries and Fran [Kirby] getting sick.

"At Arsenal we gave a terrific account of ourselves with a very thin squad, a very fatigued squad.

"Manchester City was very early and we were 1-0 up and I think it was lack of experience of winning 1-0 at Man City which has not happened very often for Brighton.

"We can look at the results only and say the form hasn't been good, but when we reflect on it parts have been good. If we can try to tidy up then we give ourselves a better chance of coming away with three points away from home."

  10. 'Take the positives and keep moving'published at 15:30 GMT

    FT: Liverpool 1-1 Brighton

    Liverpool

Liverpool keeper and player of the match Faye Kirby speaking to Sky Sports: "We are gutted to concede in the last minute We played really well and it has been coming for quite a while. But we just have to take the positives and keep moving because we are going in the right direction.

On confidence and brilliance shown: "It's something we have spoken about previously, giving the fight, especially in the one v ones, and we have seen a lot of that today, which has probably helped us to play the way we did."

On her own performance: "It didn't feel like five [saves]. I'm the last defence and I tried to do everything I can for the team, but I can't do it without the girls."

  11. 'Team needs help' with squad depthpublished at 15:28 GMT

    FT: Liverpool 1-1 Brighton

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Gareth Taylor, speaking to Sky Sports: "Frustrated we can't see it out but I'm happy to give credit to the players, I thought they played to the maximum today. If you can't see from that performance that we're not taking forward steps, I think that's really hard to see. Players are giving the maximum. We try to influence it from the sidelines, we wanted to press because we felt they can really hurt you with the overloads in midfield. There will come a point in the game where we need reinforcements but it's been tough."

On where they have improved: "The way we played, the football we played in the first half, I thought we were great. Fuka Nagano controlled a lot of the player, Jenna Clark was good on the front foot. We're making compromises and certain players are maybe playing in unfamiliar positions. We pressed really well, limited them to very little in the first half. Gradually we struggled to sustain that so we take a bit of step backwards at the first time. That's natural."

On what needs to change to get three points: "We've just got to see the game out. That can happen. It's a cruel game. It would've been nice to reinforce the good work with three points. For us it's a first point on the board, it's a step forward. I think when the dust settles we'll look back and go 'players played to their maximum, gave everything they've got'. It can be tough to take when it's late on."

On whether more squad depth would have made the difference: "It's a certainty. It's something which has been fed back in an appropriate way. This team needs help, we lost players from last season and we've not replaced those players. We need to be really active in the January market to help the team as best as we can."

  12. 'We should get a response against Arsenal'published at 15:25 GMT

    FT: London City 4-2 Tottenham

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Martin Ho: "For large parts, we had better control and we were the better team on the ball. If we attack like that this season, we will win games. But we can't defend like that because we will lose the games.

"They had four or five moments and we defended those moments poorly. When you do that against good players, they will punish you.

"We came back to the game twice and showed great spirit. I am proud of that. There are moments where we got to be better so that we don't give away chances easily."

On facing Arsenal next: "I told the players if we do that with the ball, we will dominate the games. If we perform like that off the ball and are not aggressive in our duels, we will be punished. Going into a London derby, I have to ask for a response and we should get one."

  13. 'It's up to players to decide what our limits are'published at 15:23 GMT

    FT: London City 4-2 Tottenham

    London City Lionesses

London City Lionesses manager Jocelyn Precheur: One of the biggest satisfactions from today was that we closed the space defensively. Another good step against a very, very good team. I want to underline the fact that Tottenham played really, really well today. A good performance that will give us the confidence and the energy to keep improving even more.

On two-goal Freya Godfrey: "Happy because when she arrived in January last year, I saw her potential but she really lacked the confidence. As I told her many times, it's normal to have a lack of confidence because you are a young player. She has started to experience it herself now. I am happy for her but I just told her it's just a beginning for her.

On objectives for the season: "It was an important game for us today to decide which part of the table we can stay. I prefer to go game after game. I don't like to talk about vision and where we can be in the table at the end of the season. It's really important to keep this dynamics. Despite the fact that we are improving, I think we are yet to achieve our full potential. It's about how we can keep improving again. This will give the players the energy to keep developing.

"Where are our limits this season? It's up to the players to answer this question."
