    Strong thoughts from Gordon.

    Let's do a poll.

Thumbs up if you think Man City can win the league this season. Thumbs down if not.

Man City women have been racking up the wins but they have been unconvincing with their performances, especially v West Ham. To be taken seriously as title challengers, they need to comfortably win games like today's, against struggling Everton. Doubts about them from two years ago remain.

Manchester City’s Khadija Shaw has been directly involved in 10 goals in six WSL appearances against Everton (8 goals, 2 assists), only managing more in the competition against Tottenham (13).

Shaw could be the first player in WSL history to score or assist in each of her first seven appearances against a specific opponent.

    Manchester City

Manchester City head coach Andree Jeglertz, speaking on BBC Two: "It's a little bit about keeping doing what we're doing. It's also about respecting our opponent. Everton are a great team. They have a lot of things going on in their games. We have to be very quick in adapting to what they're doing.

"At the same time we know when we are keeping the ball and when we are doing the things we are supposed to do we are also a very good team. We have been able to create scoring chances from different area. If they are closing one area we have to be adaptable and open another space. It should be a good game."

Everton boss Brian Sorensen, speaking on BBC Two: "I think the last couple of weeks we are having people back and we can see the progression in the team.

"I think against [Aston] Villa we made a very good offensive performance. In defence we know today we have to be at our very best like last year. That's the confidence we'll take in, we did it before and we know we have to be at our best."

Aoba Fujino, for me, has been such an exciting breath of fresh air for Manchester City.

I had question marks about how she could adapt in this league. The manager has trust in what she can do and she's adapted. She's only 21 years of age, very versatile, she's a bit of an auxiliary play maker, can play across the front three and even played as a right back.

She connects so much of the attack.

Everton's first and only win of the league season so far came against Merseyside rivals Liverpool at Anfield in their opening game.

Since then, they have picked up just two points and only winless Liverpool and West Ham are behind them in the table.

Everton have lost each of their last three home matches in the WSL and are seeking to avoid suffering four successive defeats on home soil for just the second ever time in the competition, after September 2014 - October 2017 (a run which included a 2-3 loss to Manchester City).

Toffees boss Brian Sorensen signed a new two-year deal with the club in April.

Andree Jeglertz was appointed Manchester City Head Coach ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, taking the reins following the conclusion of Euro 2025.

The Dane is just the fourth manager to pick up 18+ points from their first seven matches in the competition after Sonia Bompastor (P7 W7), Jonas Eidevall and Renee Slegers (both P7 W6).

Jeglertz's side have won six of their opening seven WSL matches this season (L1), with the Citizens only recording more victories in one of their 12 previous campaigns in the competition (7 in 2017-18).

London City Lionesses' Freya Godfrey, speaking to the Barclays WSL YouTube channel: "It was tough, it was a fight. I think it was more of a fighting game than a tactical game. Sometimes you have those games in football and we had to be ready to adapt to it.

On playing with Nikita Parris: "Especially for me as a young player, I grew up watching her. It's incredible to be on a team with her. Assisting her on her 200th appearance is a career highlight in itself for me. She's a legend of the game. I think it's very positive for me and the other young players to be able to be in and around her."

On how she feels London City could do this season: "I know we didn't get the result we wanted last week, but against the champions we showed what we're capable of. We want to keep going further. The sky is the limit and we can keep pushing and showing the league what we're capable of. For a promoted team, nobody expected us to do what we have."

A 1-1 draw between London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea yesterday left Manchester City with a golden opportunity to go top of the league.

City will move a point above defending champions Chelsea if they can beat Everton at Goodison Park.

The good news for them is that as a WSL club, Manchester City have won 26 of their 28 matches against Everton in all competitions, more than against any other opponent in that time (D1 L1).
