  6. Rapid Bucharest sack Lennon after six matchespublished at 20:44 British Summer Time 20 August 2024

Former Celtic and Hibernian manager Neil Lennon has been sacked by Rapid Bucharest after just six matches.

The 53-year-old ex-Northern Ireland midfielder, who also had spells in charge at Bolton Wanderers and Omonia Nicosia, was appointed in May.

A run of five draws and a defeat has Rapid sitting 12th in the 16-team SuperLiga.

A club statement on Lennon's departure read: "We thank him for all his dedication and energy on the Rapidu bench, especially since he has been through difficult times lately, and we wish him much success in the future!"

Lennon, who also captained Celtic, had been at home in Northern Ireland earlier this month following the death of his mother.

    HT: Glenavon 0-3 Linfield

I can't see where the goals would come in regards to Glenavon.

It might be one of those nights when you see the likes of [Joel] Cooper and [Kirk] Millar taken off fairly early in the second half.

  10. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:38 British Summer Time 20 August 2024

    Cliftonville 0-0 Dungannon Swifts

The whistle blows, bringing an end to the first half at Solitude.

Neither the hosts nor Dungannon Swifts have managed to find their stride in a match starved of quality.

Both managers will be demanding more from their players as they head into the dressing rooms. Let's hope for an improved second half in north Belfast.

  11. Linfield look 'very solid'published at 20:37 British Summer Time 20 August 2024

    HT: Glenavon 0-3 Linfield

    Liam Beckett
    Sportsound summariser

I think Linfield have looked very solid all over the pitch.

Defensively and in midfield they are industrious and doing all the work they need to on a night like that.

  12. CLOSE!published at 20:35 British Summer Time 20 August 2024

    Cliftonville 0-0 Dungannon Swifts

Jonny Addis nearly snatches a half-time lead for Cliftonville!

Ronan Doherty's free-kick finds the defender at the far post, but Addis can't direct his header on target from close range.

  13. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:35 British Summer Time 20 August 2024

    Glentoran 0-0 Coleraine

Daniel Gyollai with a terrific save to deny Matthew Shevlin with the last action of an absorbing first half.

There have been chances for both teams but, as yet, no goals.

The aforementioned Shevlin has had the best of Coleraine's chances, at the start and end of the half, while Cammy Palmer had the hosts' best chance with a curling effort that went narrowly wide in the early stages.

A decent watch for a large crowd enjoying a dry evening in the east of the city but hopefully with goals after the break.

  14. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:34 British Summer Time 20 August 2024

    Ballymena United 0-1 Crusaders

Kieran Offord's early diving header in the difference between the sides at a blustery Ballymena Showgrounds.

The home side has shown plenty of endeavour in their search for an equaliser but the visitors have looked relatively comfortable to date with that brilliant Jonny Tuffey save late in the half their only real anxious moment.

  15. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:34 British Summer Time 20 August 2024

    Loughgall 1-1 Portadown

That's the half-time whistle and the teams head in at the break level.

After a wild start where Portadown took the lead from Ryan Mayse's chip and the hosts hit back through Nathaniel Ferris, this game has settled down.

Loughgall manager Dean Smith will be the happier in the dressing room as his side has been on the front foot but just haven't managed to get ahead.

  16. Postpublished at 20:33 British Summer Time 20 August 2024

    Cliftonville 0-0 Dungannon Swifts

The half looks to be ending with a whimper as Leo Alves' free-kick is tamely struck straight into the arms of David Odumosu.

It mirrors an opening 45 minutes that has been sorely lacking in quality.

  17. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:33 British Summer Time 20 August 2024

    Glenavon 0-3 Linfield

A delightful first half for David Healy's Linfield and a dismal half for Stephen McDonnell's Glenavon as the visitors lead 3-0 at the break.

Joel Cooper has two goals on the night, as well as assisting Kirk Millar for his.

The hosts have a lot of work to do in the second half if they are to find any way back into this game now.

  18. 'Glenavon need to waken up'published at 20:32 British Summer Time 20 August 2024

    Glenavon 0-3 Linfield

    Liam Beckett
    Sportsound summariser

Glenavon need to waken up and get tighter defensively because there are too many free players for Linfield around the edge of the penalty area and if they get on it, they're talented players, the chances are they will score.

  19. Postpublished at 20:31 British Summer Time 20 August 2024
