Summary

  1. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 20:14 British Summer Time 20 August 2024

    Cliftonville 0-0 Dungannon Swifts

A bittersweet moment for the Reds as Ryan Markey makes his debut, replacing the injured Rory Donnelly.

The home faithful applaud Donnelly as he limps off, while welcoming Markey to the fray.

Can the young striker seize his opportunity and make an instant impact?

  2. Postpublished at 20:13 British Summer Time 20 August 2024

    Cliftonville 0-0 Dungannon Swifts

Dungannon's promising attack fizzles out as Adam Glenney's ambitious 30-yard effort sails high and wide.

  3. Glenavon 'clinging onto the game'published at 20:12 British Summer Time 20 August 2024

    Glenavon 0-2 Linfield

    Liam Beckett
    Sportsound summariser

At 2-0 down they [Glenavon] are clinging onto the game because if anyone is going to score you feel like it might be Linfield with a third and if that happens, then you fear for them.

  4. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 20:12 British Summer Time 20 August 2024

    Loughgall 1-1 Portadown

The home support think their team has hit the front when Ryan Waide helps a Caolan McAleer effort into the net but he is flagged for offside. The half-hearted cheers perhaps tell their own story as there is little doubt about the decision.

  5. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 20:11 British Summer Time 20 August 2024

    Glenavon 0-2 Linfield

Some more massive penalty appeals as Glenavon feel they should have another spot kick as the ball strikes Scott Whiteside's arm in the area.

It would have been a harsh one on the Blues defender, but Lurgan Blues fans will certainly feel hard done by as their second penalty claim of the night is waves away by referee Mark Dillon.

  6. Postpublished at 20:11 British Summer Time 20 August 2024

    Glentoran 0-0 Coleraine

Lovely footwork from Matthew Shevlin sees the in-form striker skip past the challenges of two defenders on the edge of the Glentoran penalty area.

Unfortunately for him the finish isn't equal to the approach play as he blasts his left foot shot high over the crossbar.

  7. Postpublished at 20:09 British Summer Time 20 August 2024

    Cliftonville 0-0 Dungannon Swifts

Luke Conlan spots an opening from distance and has a crack at goal, but his shot lacks conviction.

It's a tame effort, straight down the throat of Declan Dunne, who gathers the ball with ease.

  8. Cooper and Millar 'deadly duo'published at 20:09 British Summer Time 20 August 2024

    Glenavon 0-2 Linfield

    Liam Beckett
    Sportsound summariser

That is Cooper at his very best. I said earlier he is in a rich vein of form and his confidence is sky high, Millar likewise.

That's the deadly duo. Every time I think of Linfield as an attacking force, I think of those two.

  9. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:08 British Summer Time 20 August 2024

    Glentoran 0-0 Coleraine

A first card of the evening and it's yellow, flashed in the direction of Glentoran skipper Fuad Sule for a challenge on Coleraine midfielder Dylan Boyle.

  11. Postpublished at 20:06 British Summer Time 20 August 2024

    Cliftonville 0-0 Dungannon Swifts

    Luke Conlan to the rescue!

Adam Glenny unleashes a thunderbolt from 12 yards, the ball destined for the back of the net, but Conlan throws himself in front of the shot, making a heroic block.

The Swifts must settle for a corner as Conlan's bravery keeps the Reds on level terms.

  12. Postpublished at 20:06 British Summer Time 20 August 2024

    Glentoran 0-0 Coleraine

Another great opportunity for the hosts following a super team move.

Glentoran midfielder Cammy Palmer breaks the lines brilliantly before sliding an inch perfect pass into the feet of Jordan Jenkins.

The forward reaches the byline before pulling the ball back across goal where covering Coleraine defender Kyle McClelland is relieved to see his sliced clearance go out for a corner - and not into the back of his own net!

Still, promising stuff from Declan Devine's team.

  13. goal

GOAL - Glenavon 0-2 Linfieldpublished at 20:06 British Summer Time 20 August 2024

    Kirk Millar - 19mins

Linfield double their lead and this time its Joel Cooper who turns provider!

Cooper weaves his way through the Glenavon defence down the left hand side before delivering a low cross into the box.

The ball evades everyone and finds it's way to Kirk Millar at the back post, who hits it first time and finds the top left corner of the net with power and precision to give the Blues their second of the evening.

Stephen McDonnell is not a happy man in the dugout right now...

  14. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:05 British Summer Time 20 August 2024

    Ballymena United 0-1 Crusaders

The first yellow card of the evening goes to Crusaders' Robbie Weir who misjudges a through ball and then brings down Ben Kennedy five yards outside the penalty area.

The resultant free kick is deflected over the crossbar for a fruitless corner.

  15. Offord header edges Crues in frontpublished at 20:05 British Summer Time 20 August 2024

    Ballymena United 0-1 Crusaders

  16. Postpublished at 20:04 British Summer Time 20 August 2024

    Cliftonville 0-0 Dungannon Swifts

After the visitors' early dominance, the game has settled into a rather lacklustre affair.

Both sides are struggling to string passes together, with the ball being played out of play all too frequently.

The initial intensity has fizzled out, leaving fans yearning for a moment of inspiration to reignite this contest. Can either team find that spark?

  17. Postpublished at 20:03 British Summer Time 20 August 2024

    Glenavon 0-1 Linfield

    Liam Beckett
    Sportsound summariser

A fit Euan East for Linfield is like signing a new player. They certainly missed him when he was away.

  18. Cooper strikes early for Bluespublished at 20:03 British Summer Time 20 August 2024

    Glenavon 1-0 Linfield

Joel Cooper scores within two minutes for Linfield with a clinical left-foot finish.

  19. Postpublished at 20:02 British Summer Time 20 August 2024

    Glenavon 0-1 Linfield

Kyle McClean hangs a cross to the back post from the left hand side where Matthew Fitzpatrick meets the cross with his head, but he can't quite get any real purchase on it and Gareth Deane easily gathers.

That was Linfield's first meaningful attack since they went a goal ahead. Glenavon have certainly responded well since going a goal behind.

  20. Watch: A little magic from Maysepublished at 20:02 British Summer Time 20 August 2024

    Loughgall 1-1 Portadown

Here is how Ryan Mayse gave Portadown the lead against Loughgall with a fine first-time finish.
