Once beat my older brother Tony at tennis on the sea front at Weymouth whilst on holiday during our teen years. He had been mouthing off for weeks before the contest. Not much love lost....

  2. No injured players back for Spurspublished at 11:12 Greenwich Mean Time

Aston Villa v Tottenham (Sun, 17:35 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou is speaking to the media around 13 hours after his side's painful Carabao Cup semi-final loss to Liverpool.

He says the squad got home at about 2am this morning and most of the players are still sleeping.

It's a trip to Aston Villa next for them on Sunday, with the FA Cup representing one of their two remaining trophy opportunities this season.

Postecoglou says he won't have any injured players back in time for that one.

Plymouth Argyle v Liverpool (Sun, 15:00 GMT)

    Liverpool

A final word from Liverpool manager Arne Slot for now, on whether his side can push for an unprecedented Quadruple this season: "It's difficult for me to judge because I wasn't here last season, so I don't know. I can only tell you that at this moment in time we are in a very good place. I'm not just talking about the results, but the players are fit and ready.

"We are in a good place but we also know how long the season still is and how many difficult challenges there will still be for us.

"I'm not expecting us to win every game like we did yesterday [4-0 against Tottenham], but that is also not what I ask of them. We just try to do everything to win every single football match."

My big brother used to pit my twin brother and I against each other in what he dubbed “The Twin Olympics” Events ranged from penalty shoot outs and mini golf to boxing with our hands wrapped in tea towels! Regardless of the results, I think we can all agree my big brother was the only winner there.

Discussing the quality of centre-back Virgil van Dijk, Arne Slot said: "Virgil deserves every compliment he gets.

"He's been outstanding for the club since he's been here and outstanding for me since I've been at the club.

"He showed that again yesterday. Virgil, like many others, has had a good season, but he will want to make it a great season."

  7. Slot to use players 'that haven't played so much'published at 10:57 Greenwich Mean Time

Plymouth Argyle v Liverpool (Sun, 15:00 GMT)

    Liverpool

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Liverpool manager Arne Slot says he will look to rotate his squad this weekend as the Reds, still fighting on four fronts, take on Plymouth Argyle.

"It is always a tricky tie, no matter what team you play, because it is an away game and it is probably their 'final', as is often the case when Liverpool goes anywhere," Slot said.

"I think it is important in these moments for players that don't get much playing time to have that playing time, so that if we ever need them then they are ready. If you never play them, it is so difficult for them to be ready if we do get some injuries or suspensions.

"We will definitely use some players that haven't played so much."

My twin brother was a goalkeeper, me a striker. We faced each other just once. My team were awarded a penalty. Bizarrely our captain who was a centre half insisted on taking it. My brother made a great save, but like all good strikers I was following in and hit the rebound towards the top corner. Somehow he got up and tipped it over the bar. Still bugs me 30 years later.

Here's what Liverpool manager Arne Slot had to say on the quality in his squad, after asked being asked about whether Conor Bradley is ready to be Liverpool's first choice right-back.

"For many positions, we have two [players]. [Two] good right-backs, two good left-backs, more than two good centre-backs, and I could go on.

"Right-back is just an example of that."

  12. FA Cup tie 'too early' for Alexander-Arnold returnpublished at 10:44 Greenwich Mean Time

Plymouth Argyle v Liverpool (Sun, 15:00 GMT)

    Liverpool

Here's Liverpool manager Arne Slot discussing Trent Alexander-Arnold's injury situation: "No, I don't think he is ready yet. This game [against Plymouth] is going to be too early for him.

"It is difficult to say if he will be back [for the Merseyside derby]. It's not going to take months or even weeks, but that game is only three days after the Plymouth Argyle one. Let's wait and see if he is available.

"We also want to look at it long-term because we don't want to take any risks with so many games coming up afterwards. If he is fit, then we will use him."

  13. Bradley stars in Alexander-Arnold's absencepublished at 10:39 Greenwich Mean Time

Trent Alexander-Arnold would be a big miss in most teams - but, in Conor Bradley, Liverpool appear to have themselves a more than adequate successor.

Bradley impressed in last night's semi-final second leg, which Alexander-Arnold missed after sustaining an injury during last weekend's 2-0 victory over Bournemouth.

He had more touches than any Liverpool player on Thursday night and repeatedly got up and down the pitch, as shown by his touch map below.

The Northern Ireland international completed 51 passes, one of which was the inch-perfect assist for Dominik Szoboszlai to slot home goal number three of the evening.

Discussing the 21-year-old's performance after the game, former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp said "he is fearless and has the world at his feet" before adding that he "loves the way he plays."

Liverpool manger Arne Slot confirms Trent Alexander-Arnold will not be fit to take part in Liverpool's FA Cup fourth round tie at Plymouth Argyle on Sunday.

But he added the right-back could return for next Wednesday's Merseyside derby at Everton.

    .

I've been to Wigan to speak to Steven Sessegnon as the defender prepares for an FA Cup fourth round tie which could see him face his twin brother Ryan.

Steven and Ryan played alongside one another for 10 years as they rose through Fulham's academy before playing for the first team together.

Ryan left Fulham for Tottenham in 2019 before returning last summer - by which time Steven had left the Cottagers for League One Wigan.

Now the 24-year-old brothers are set to be reunited on the same pitch on opposite sides when Wigan host Premier League Fulham on Saturday.

Steven says it will be a "once-in-a-lifetime" moment if he does get to play against his twin, adding: "We know one another inside out. Ryan is my twin and the game is against my former club. It's going to be exciting for all the family."

  19. Amorim not surprised Van Nistelrooy did better at Man Utdpublished at 10:18 Greenwich Mean Time

Man Utd v Leicester (20:00 GMT)

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport's chief football news reporter

Ruben Amorim was his usual honest self when he spoke to the media yesterday ahead of Manchester United's FA Cup fourth round tie with Leicester.

It means a meeting with Ruud van Nistelrooy, who stood in as United boss for four games after Erik ten Hag had been sacked. They were all at home - two against Leicester. United won three and drew one, which is better than Amorim, who has lost five at Old Trafford.

The former Sporting boss does not feel that record is a surprise.

"It’s not awkward," he said. "I think it’s normal.

"He knew the team, he worked with the team. I made some decisions that are really hard, to sometimes create problems and friction in the team.

"I’m a really proud guy, but I take this normally. They were better than me in training this team, so I’m trying to help them see the game the way I see, to improve the performance, and also the results."

  20. 'We are always going to try and go to the next round'published at 10:12 Greenwich Mean Time

Everton v Bournemouth (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

    Bournemouth

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola on the FA Cup: "For me, I don’t relate the competitions, it’s not like in the league you need more or you need less.

"I think whatever is your position in the league, we are always going to try and go to the next round and be successful in the cup, but we have a very difficult opponent in front.

"At the end there is no guarantee if you rest players that you are going to win the next game so we will try to go there and win the game, no win, that is going to be difficult."
