Morton struck late through Michael Garrity

Greenock Morton came out on top against Raith Rovers in a five-goal Scottish Championship thriller at Stark's Park.

Filip Stuperevic was on hand to fire home from just a few yards out after Aaron Lyall's effort had been blocked and the Morton striker netted again on 25 minutes, glancing a header beyond goalkeeper Kevin Dabrowski.

Raith started brightly in the second period and pulled one back just before the hour. A free-kick was played in from the left with Morton’s Zak Delaney and Raith defender Paul Hanlon challenging, Delaney ultimately named scorer of an own goal.

The hosts were awarded a spot-kick after Lewis Gibson was brought down by keeper Ryan Mullen and Dylan Easton coolly sent Mullen the wrong way.

However, slack defending by the home side allowed Jordan Woods time to force the ball across goal where fellow substitute Michael Garrity was all alone to tap home what proved to be the winner.

Morton remain two points above Dunfermline Athletic and are nine in front of bottom side Airdrieonians while Raith Rovers, in sixth, trail Queen's Park by seven points.
