Doncaster continued their impressive early-season form with a slender 1-0 win at Port Vale.

Rovers captain Owen Bailey notched the game's only goal as Grant McCann's side sealed a third win in five Sky Bet League One games.

Vale came into this clash still searching for their first league win of the season and were still reeling after the sale of star striker Lorent Tolaj to Plymouth.

But they showed more intent than their visitors in the first half, with Jaheim Headley seeing a fierce effort tipped over by Thimothee Lo-Tutala before the Rovers goalkeeper was alert to make a quickfire double save to keep out Mo Faal and then Ben Garrity.

The goalkeeper was helpless just prior to that when Cameron Humphreys' header came back off the woodwork.

Those misses came back to haunt the hosts when Rovers took the lead nine minutes after the interval.

Bailey produced a side-footed finish inside the box from Glenn Middleton's centre.

Billy Sharp headed over for Rovers, while the home side's best effort was a header from substitute Ronan Curtis.
